OPENING PRAYER

Almighty God, we worship You, we bow before You.

King of Glory, the All Sufficient God; blessed be Your Holy Name.

Please, accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.

Today, my Father and my God; I Pray that You will show Mercy to everyone of us; that in Your Own Marvelous Way; You will single us out for Divine Favour in Jesus Name.

Thank You Almighty God.

In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.

Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!

We are continuing our Study – The Series on: “GOINH HIGHER” and we are moving on to Part 13.

Our Bible Text will still be: 1 Kings 17: 7-9:

7. And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
8. And the word of the LORD came unto him (Elijah), saying,
9. Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

We have talked about the Brook drying up but now we want to focus our attention on: “The Widow of Zarephath”.

And we are jumping a little bit because there are quite a few other things that we could have talked about:

1. We could have talked about Zarephath.
2. We could have talked about Zidon.
3. We could have talked about the word: “Dwell There” – Go and dwell there.

There is a Place called “There” – A Place God has chosen for you!

If you are “There”; then certain things will happen; if you are “Not There”; then you will miss certain things.

And if God asked you to be in a Particular Place and you move out of the Place; you will get into trouble!

There are Young People that the Almighty God has blessed in a Particular Mission and that is where God wants them to be but they feel that because they can Preach, they can do this, they can do that; they believed that they can “Branch Out” and become their own General Overseer.

If you leave “There” for somewhere else; you will be on your own.

Initially, things might be going rosy but very soon, you will know that there is a Place called “There”.

But that is not the Topic for today – We want to focus on: “The Widow”. I have commanded a Widow there to sustain thee.

So, we will be talking about: “The Widow of Zarephath” for quite a few Sundays from now on.

The first (1st) thing we want to note about this Widow of Zarephath is that she was one out of many.

Luke 4: 25-26; Jesus Christ said: There were many Widows in the time of Elijah; only one was selected for Divine Attention.

I am Praying for somebody listening to me today or reading now on the Label of DMC that God will Single you out for Favour – Amen.

The first (1st) thing we want to note about the Widow of Zarephath; why was she the only one selected for this Divine Favour because whether you believed it or not; it was not Elijah that needed Help, it was the Widow of Zarephath.

Oh, you said: The Brook had dried up; when you go further on, when you get to 1 Kings 19: 4-8; you will discovered that when Elijah needed food and water; an Angel brought them.

So, if the Brook dried up; God is able to say to Elijah: Stay here, food will keep coming, don’t worry yourself about the Brook that dried up as an Angel will bring you water.

But there was somebody in Need; somebody who was about to die – A Widow who was about to die with her son. She needed Help desperately.

But why was she (The Widow) the one chosen for Help

1. Psalms 115:3 tells us that our God is Sovereign – Our God is in Heaven, He does as He Pleases.

Psalms 24: 7-10 tells us that our God is the Commander In Chief of all the Host.

Nobody commands the Commander In Chief, He does what He wants to do.

If a Soldier wants to talk to his Commander, he must even obtain Permission – Permission to speak sir.

And if the Commander says Permission denied; that is the end of the Story.

2. But the Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:4 – It says that God is rich in Mercy.

… His wealth is measured by the amount of Mercy this he has.

And Romans 9: 15-16; the Bible tells us that God says: I will have Mercy on whom I will have Mercy; I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

I Pray for all you my children: May the Almighty God Single you out for Mercy – Amen.

3. Yes, He says I’m rich in Mercy, yes He says I will have Mercy on whom I will have Mercy on but the Bible says that: God could even choose who will obtain Mercy before the fellow was born.

Romans 9: 10-13; the Bible says before Esau and Jacob were born, God had already said: I love Jacob, I hate Esau.

The Bible says that they were not even born yet, they have not done either Good or Bad but God had said this is the way I will do it.

You read that Bible Passage further – In my own translation, the Writer of the Book of Romans says: If you don’t like it, sue God. You want to query God – God ahead.

Let’s find out who is going to be your Lawyer, who will be your Judge; let’s find out which clay is going to say to the Porter – This is the way I want you to form me.

Aren’t you grateful to God that He has been Merciful unto you?

Even though God is Sovereign; He is not Arbitrary!

Acts 15:18 says: Known unto God are all His works.

Before the Foundation of the Earth, He knows the End from the Beginning!

For example: In Genesis 25: 29-34; God knew in advance what Esau will do – That he will sell his birthright just for a Plate of food.

… God knew that! He knew the End from the Beginning.

So, we come to these Questions or Series of Questions:

1. Who will God choose for Mercy?

Matthew 5:7 gives the Answer – Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall obtain Mercy!

Ask yourself: Do I qualify for Mercy? How Merciful are you?

How do you treat your neighbours?

You know very well that if they die in their sins, they will go to Hell and you know the way out – That if they give their Lives to Jesus Christ, He will save their Souls and open the doors of Heaven for them.

… Have you Preached to them?

How hard have you tried to even bring every Members of your family to Salvation?

If they want to go, let them go – Is that not what you have been saying?

What efforts have you made to bring the Gospel to your Village or to your Town?

Oh, you are saved, you are rejoicing, you are on your way to Heaven – Glory be to God. But you don’t care what happens to others

… Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall obtain Mercy!

2. Who will God choose for Tremendous Prosperity?

… Because I knew that some of us has been Praying: God, what is going on? I see some other People Prospering; what about me?

Isaiah 1:19 says: If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the Good of the Land.

Don’t let anybody tells us that there is no money in this Land or whichever Land that you are listening to me now or reading now on the Label of DMC.

Inspite of everything that is happening; some People are still building houses; some People are even making Billions out of the Present National Crises.

Some People are rejoicing that there is a Second (2nd) Wave of Coronavirus while some of them may even be Praying that there will be a Third (3rd) Wave.

But God says: Son, Daughter; if you will obey me; you will eat the Good of the Land.

How is He going to do it? – That is none of your business. Leave that to Him.

3. Who is going to be Singled Out for a Miracle that will be known throughout History?

Luke 1: 26-38 – Mary got a “Unique Miracle” – A Miracle that had never been duplicated!

Why? – She was a Virgin.

Alright; Holiness Pays but she wasn’t the “Only Virgin” in the Land, why was she “Singled Out” for that Great Incredible, Never to be Forgotten Miracle?

Because she said: God let it be unto me according to Your Words – Just let Your Will be done in my Life!

I know that I will get into trouble because of this Miracle.

I know that my husband will say: What kind of story are you telling me? That the Holy Spirit Put you into a Family Way?

I know that there will be shame, there will be embarrassment.

… But Lord, let Your Will be done in my Life!

… God knew the End from the Beginning!

4. Who is going to be Chosen for Uncommon Promotion?

Afterall, we all know that in Psalms 75: 5-6; the Bible made it clear: Promotion comes from God (The Sovereign God).

Who according to 1 Samuel 2: 7-8 – The same God who lifts up one, Pulls down another; the same God who can Pick somebody from the dunghill and lifts him up until he begins to sit on the Thrones.

But who will He choose? – Well, maybe we can learn a Lesson from David in 1 Samuel 16: 1-13.

The Bible tells us that God sent His Man to Jesse’s house: Go and anoint Me there a King.

He got there (You know the Story); Jesse Presented those he thought could be King and hid David in the field.

God says: Go and bring him. We are not sitting down until you bring him. They brought him and he was anointed as King.

Why? – Acts of Apostle 13: 21-22 – God said that I have found a Man (David) who will do all my Will.

Who will He choose for Promotion?

And we are not talking of Promotion that will just be the kind that will last for some time.

Up till today; Jesus Christ is called: The Son of David.

… You can’t forget David. It is not Possible!

5. Who will God choose to become a Blessing to the whole world?

Genesis 12: 1-3 – All of a sudden, God just Picked one fellow called Abraham.

And Abraham had not done anything – There was no record that he has done anything. He was even one of the Idol Worshippers of the Land.

… Abraham, I am going to bless you, I am going to make your name Great, you are going to be a Blessing. Through thy Seeds the whole world will be blessed

And up till today; according to Galatians 3: 8-14; whether Jews or Gentiles; there are conditions when you can claim the Blessings of Abraham – He is still a Blessing, long after his death.

Why did God choose him?

Genesis 22: 2-18; the God who knows the End from the Beginning gave him a Test – You will get a son in your “Old Age” – The son Isaac that you loved, I mean him. Go and sacrifice him to me. I will show you where.

After Abraham obeyed and God had to stop him from killing his son; God said: You Proved it that you truly loved me.

Now, I swear: In Blessings, I will bless you and through thy Seeds the whole Earth will be blessed.

Who will He choose to be a Blessing to the whole world?

The one who will Put God first; the one who is ready to make a “First Fruit” Sacrifice to the Almighty God; the one who is not too Clever to surrender All to God!

6. But you see; there is one aspect of this thing.

I came to a question: Suppose that there are two (2) or three (3) People who are very Good, who are qualified to be Chosen and God had to choose only one out of them, who will He choose?

I mean you know the Story in Daniel 6: 1-3 – The Bible said that the King has one hundred and twenty (120) Provinces; out of these He choose three (3) Presidents and then he wanted to choose one (1) out of the three (3).

Here are three (3) Presidents – People who has already Proven themselves and he wanted to select one (1).

And the Bible said he choose Daniel.

Why? – An Excellent Spirit was found in him.

I said: Okay, I understand Daniel. But suppose, there are only two (2) – Like in Caleb and Joshua.

How come God choose Joshua?

You see because when you read Numbers 13: 25-33; when the Spies came and told Moses: Hey, we have gone through the Land et cetera et cetera – The Land is Good but there are Giants in the Land. It was Caleb who spoke first and not Joshua.

Caleb said: Hey, shut up; let’s go up at once as we can take the Land.

… Joshua was quiet!

He was quiet because he had reason to be quiet. He knew that when there is war; Moses will go and stay on the Mountain and ask him to be fighting in the Valley.

… He knows the trouble that will be involved.

It was only later on in Joshua 14: 1-10 that Joshua said: Yes, I support Caleb.

And yet, when God wanted to choose a Successor for Moses in Joshua 1: 1-8; it was Joshua that God choose.

And as a matter of fact, by the time you get to Joshua 14: 6-14; Caleb has to come to Joshua to beg for his own Portion.

And he had to remind him: My friend, remember that we were Partners o, but now you are my Boss. May I Please ask for Permission that you can at least give me a Mountain?

And occasionally, when I have a little Problem like finding out the ways of God in matters like this; when God wants to choose the best out of the best; and I don’t get an answer; my brain is too small – Then I turn to God and I got answer in Joshua 24: 15.

That is where Joshua said: As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

… God knows the End from the Beginning!

Are you going to be the one that God will choose? What is your determination? Will you say to God today that: As for me and my house; will you say to the Almighty God that whatever is going to cost me, not a Single Member of my family will go to Hell?

… You see because God knows the End from the Beginning!

ALTAR CALL

As for those of you who are not yet Born Again – Even you that is not Born Again, talkless of your house and yet the Almighty God is willing to choose you to be the first to be saved in your family so that you can become the Instrument that He will use to bring about the Salvation of your entire family.

That is what He did for me – He gave me a Problem I couldn’t solve. I gave my Life to Jesus Christ and the moment I was saved, that hunger came – Every Members of my family must be a True Child of God.

If you are not yet saved, come to Jesus Christ today and He will turn you unto a Vessel unto Honour.

So, if you want to give your Life to Jesus Christ, Wherever you are: If you will Stand on your feet, you will bow your head in Prayer.

If you are in a Church Settings, move towards the Altar and cry unto the Almighty God and say: Save my Soul and through me save my family also. Let me be the “Chosen Vessel” in your Hands but Please save my Soul first.

Cry unto Him now!

And the rest of us who are already saved; cry unto the Almighty God for all these People.

Ask that God will save their Souls and cry unto Him too that you too will become a Vessel unto Honour that will bring Salvation to every Members of your family.

Let us Pray!

PRAYER OF SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER

Ancient of Days, I want to Thank You again for Your Words.

Thank You because You are Sovereign; Thank You because You said that You will be Merciful to whom You will be Merciful; Thank You for those People who are Stepping Forward to receive You as their Lord and Saviour; Thank You for extending Your Mercy to them.

Father, accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.

Please Lord, save their Souls, let Your Blood wash away their sins, write their names in the Book of Life and let them become a Vessel unto Honour that will bring Salvation to every Members of their families in Jesus Name.

As for those of us who are already Your Children; Lord God Almighty; that Grace to be Vessels unto Honour in your Hands, that will bring Salvation to every Members of our families so that when you have to choose the best out of the best; we will qualify – Give us that Grace today in Jesus Name.

Thank You Father.

Now, those of you who has just given your Life to Jesus Christ; I rejoice with you and I want you to contact me as soon as Possible so that I can continue to Pray with you.

And as soon as you are saved now; begin to talk to other Members of your family so that they too can surrender their lives to Jesus Christ.

And locate a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) near you.

Tell the Pastor there that I sent you and he will tell you what to do next.

And the Almighty God will continue to use you for His Glory in Jesus Name – Amen.

PERSONAL PRAYER

As for those of us already Born Again; cry to the Almighty God: Please God, let me be the one you are going to choose even if you are going to choose one (1) out of two (2).

Let me be a Great Vessel of Honour; bringing Salvation to every Members of my family.

… And God will grant your request in Jesus Name – Amen!!!
