OPENING PRAYER
Our Father and our Maker, the Righteous Redeemer. Our Faithful God, the One who keeps us!
The One who never sleeps nor slumbers; the Lifter Up of our head. the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and the Morning Star, the Rose of Sharon, the Lion and the Lamb, the Consuming Fire!
We have come to Magnify Your Name tonight: receive our Praise and Worship, in the Name of Jesus.
As we appear before You in Zion tonight, we ask Oh GOD that everyone of us in this Auditorium, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC, will grow from Strength to Strength.
We ask tonight that everyone of us in this Auditorium, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC, will begin to experience a Transformational Shift in our lives in the Name of Jesus.
Thank You Ancient of Days.
For in Jesus’ Mighty Name we have given Thanks – Amen.
Can you join me to Celebrate the King of kings and the Lord of lords; the Alpha and Omega – Amen!
Also, I want you to celebrate our father and mother in the Lord – Daddy and Mummy GO.

I also want to celebrate all our fathers and mothers of Faith – The Governing Council, all our Senior Pastors who are here tonight, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC.
The Grace of God upon your lives will never run dry, in the Name of Jesus.
I want to extend my appreciation also to all Pastors in the South East Region – Especially Region 47. All our Regional Youth Pastors. God Bless You, in the Name of Jesus.
Exodus 3:1-2; 7-9
1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
One of the the things I see from this Scriptures tonight, is that whenever God wants to bring Deliverance to His People, one of the things He does is to look for a man who has a Rod in his hand.
This shows us carefully the importance of a Rod.
So, let’s quickly look at:
WHAT IS A ROD?
My Brother who Preached before me has given us several analysis – So I just want to ride on that tonight.
A Rod, in the Israelites Culture is a Natural Symbol of Authority; a Tool used by Shepherds to correct and guide their flock.
POINTS TO NOTE ABOUT THE ROD.
- A Rod (just as my Brother who came first said) is a Symbol of Authority.
When I saw this Theme, one of the things that came to my Mind was that; tonight, God is about to hand over Authority to someone here, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC – Amen.
It is Possible that you might have lose the Authority – But by the reason of this Theme (The Rod of Fire): you are regaining Authority, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
- The Rod grants you Access to Rulership.
One thing I noticed when God was communicating with Moses in Exodus 4:1-2, the Bible says: And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
One thing I observed here is that Moses who had the Rod did not even realised that he was holding a Symbol of Authority.
So, one of the things that God did was to bring Moses’ attention to the fact that He is about to hand over Authority and Rulership to him.
When God wants to grant a man access to Rulership, one of the things He does is to give the man the realization that he had a Rod in his hand.
In Psalm 110:1-2, the Bible says, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
There are some of us, we are too comfortable ruling outside our enemies.
But tonight God is saying, I Am sending you a Rod because you are going to start ruling in the midst of your enemies – Amen.
Your case is going to be like Psalm 23:5 which says: Thou Preparest a table before me in the Presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
You are ruling in their midst from tonight, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
- The Rod is also meant for Correction.
Whenever you want to correct a child, of course the rod is the effective tool for such.
Proverbs 22:15 says, Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
The Rod of Correction for a child of God does not kill him; but brings him to Righteousness.
Proverbs 13:24 also tells us that, He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
When you love a child, one of the effective Tools for correction is the Rod.
- The Rod brings Comfort and Protection.
Psalm 23:4 says, Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy Rod and thy Staff they comfort me.
If you read this Passage of the Bible in Amplified Version, it adds ‘Protection’ to the Comfort.
There is Somebody here, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC: No matter the Challenges you are currently going through; the Rod of God is sending you Comfort, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
I normally joke with my People in Anambra State (South East Nigeria) that so many Believers are still scared of the demons, because they have not realised that they have a Rod in their hands.
I’ll give you an example the Holy Spirit gave me – A Man with a rod is running from a dog. Then suddenly he realises, “I have a Rod in my hand, why am I running from the dog?” And he stands, shows the dog the Rod. The next thing you’ll observe is that the dog begins to run!
The man is the one running from the dog before; but the moment he realises he has a Rod and he starts making use of it; the dog will begin to reverse, and run away.
In Exodus 4:1-2 which we read earlier, God asked Moses, “what is in your hand?”
Tonight, we are going to do a little Practical – Please, if you can, stand on your feet.
I am going to ask you the same Question tonight – And your response would be, “A Rod.”
And the next thing you will do as the Action Point is that you will begin to wave the (imaginary) Rod.
And as you Symbolically wave the Rod tonight, your enemies will begin to run, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
Are you ready? “What is in your hand?” A Rod!
Now, begin to wave the imaginary Rod in your hand.
As you wave the Rod, your enemies are running tonight, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
Thank you very much! Please, take your seat.
It is one thing to have a Rod, and it is another thing to discover that the Rod that you have is connected to Fire.
When Fire is attached to anything, you know that it is a serious business.
ATTRIBUTES OF FIRE.
- Fire Consumes:
In 1 Kings 18:29-39; it is the Story of Elijah and the Prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel.
I read carefully how Elijah told them to keep pouring water on the sacrifice.
And it took less than two (2) Minutes Prayer as our father-in-the-Lord told us yesterday (DMC NOTES: During The RCCG June 2024 Sermon on Thursday, 6th June 2024) for the Fire to consume the Sacrifice.
The Fire burnt the wood and licked up the water:
Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
There is Someone here tonight, and inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC, the Fire of God is consuming your enemies, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
Hebrews 12:29 days, For our God is a Consuming Fire.
This means that God can begin to fight your battles and consume all your enemies.
- Fire brings Instant Judgement.
In 2 Kings 1:1-15, we read the Story of Elijah and the Fifty (50) Soldiers and their Captain.
Then the king sent unto him a Captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down. And Elijah answered and said to the Captain of fifty, If I be a Man of God, then let fire come down from Heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from Heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
… Instant judgement! He was not joking.
The second time they came, and it happened the same way – instant Fire.
Oh! There is Someone here tonight, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC, the Fire of God is bringing Instant Judgement to your enemies, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
- Fire causes a Separation:
In 2 Kings 2:9-11 Elijah was Pleading with Elisha, stop here let me proceed. Elisha said, No Sir! I will go with you.
But when you read carefully, the moment the Fire of God and the Chariot came, they were parted asunder.
It was no longer Elijah begging now; but the Fire of God parted them asunder.
There is Somebody here, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC, whatever has held you down for a long time now; the Fire of God is causing a separation, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
- Fire Purifies (for a Child of God).
You can read Malachi 3:2-3, But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
When we talk about the Rod of Fire, we are talking about an Authority that carries Fire.
AUTHORITY TO DO WHAT?
- It means when you Speak, your words carry Fire.
The first time we are introduced to Elijah in 1 Kings 17:1, the Bible says, And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
The first time he was introduced in the Bible was when he made a decree: “it will not rain until I (Elijah) say so.”
Who was he? This is a Man that knows that has words carry Fire.
If you read 1 Kings 17:7-8; the Bible says, And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah? And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
“Go and tell Ahab that Elijah is here.”
What Elijah was saying here is, go and tell Ahab, “the Man whose words carry Authority is here.”
There is Somebody here, inclusive those reading now on the Label of DMC, when you appear, you will boldly tell them that the Man with Authority is here – Amen.
Hallelujah!
A Man may carry the Symbol of Authority and may not be fully respected.
The Symbol of Authority for a Police Officer is the Uniform carrying the Badge.
But the Police Officer can still be disobeyed.
But the moment that Police Officer has a little weapon called a gun; no matter the Vehicle – Whether a trailer or truck, it would stop.
As you receive the Rod of Fire tonight, your words will begin to carry Fire – Amen.
Every Mountain Standing on your way; as you receive the Rod of Fire tonight, those Mountains will begin to crumble, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
Because, according to Hebrews 12:29, our God is a Consuming Fire!
So, when we say, the Rod of Fire, we mean the Rod of God.
- The Rod of Fire can also mean an Authority that brings Instant Judgement:
An Authority that brings separation from anything that is not from God.
Because, when you carry the Fire of God everywhere you go, your words will carry Fire.
Whenever you utter a word, Fire comes out because you are now a Man or a Woman that carries the Fire of God.
Let me conclude;
HOW TO ACTIVATE THE ROD OF FIRE.
You must be Born Again:
The Rod of Elisha in 2 Kings 4:17-31 was not active in the hand of Gehazi, because he had no relationship with God – His lifestyle before God was not right.
And the Holy Spirit spoke a word to me, “It is not just about the Rod; it is also about the Man who is carrying the Rod.”
If you carry the Rod of Fire and you are not Born Again, the Fire can consume you.
So, when our father-in-the-Lord comes up tonight and gives the Altar Call, do not hesitate.
If you love your Life, run out and surrender your Life to Jesus Christ.
Because, for as many as have given their lives to Jesus Christ; from tonight onward, your words would begin to carry Fire, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
SPECIAL PRAYER
I want us to rise up on our feet and take this Prayer.
Hold Somebody next to you and say: Father; from tonight let me be a Carrier of the Rod of Fire.
- That when I Speak, I’ll speak Fire;
- That when I Pray, I’ll pray Fire;
- That when I Sing, I’ll sing Fire;
- That when I Drum, I’ll drum fire.
- That when I Speak in Tongues, it will be Tongues of Fire.
Lift your voice and and Pray that Prayer tonight.
So shall it be!
In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
CLOSING PRAYER
Father, we Thank You tonight.
Thank You for Your Word.
Our eyes have been opened to understand that we have the Rod of Authority already, in the Name of Jesus.
Our eyes have been opened that in the midst of our enemies, we all will begin to rule, in the Name of Jesus.
Thank You Abba Father!
Let Your Name alone be Glorified.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
