TOPIC: GOD CHASERS

BIBLE TEXT: ACTS 13:22

Well, let somebody shout Hallelujah – Hallelujah!

Oh, come on! I need all the Youths and Young Adults, individuals of RCCG; if you know that you know that you know that you are a GOD CHASER; I need you to jump up on your feet and shout the loudest Hallelujah – HALLELUJAH!!!!

Glory to God!

Come on, Let us Pray!

OPENING PRAYER

Spirit of the Living God, I Thank You now, for what I sense you are going to do.

You have called us together for such a time as this: To be Empowered, to be Impacted, to be Inspired – to carry out an Assignment.

And so, I speak into the atmosphere, concerning every Person that is viewing this all over the world, or reading on the Label of DMC; that today, Destinies will Change – Today, Destinies will Change for the better!

And from everything that has been locked down, the Gate is springing open, and you are going to be going forth with INTENSE POWER.

In Jesus’ Name, I decree it so!

Amen and Amen. Glory to God!

I am so excited about the opportunity to come in to Minister to you and to share with you what the Almighty God has Placed on my heart concerning the Season that we are in now.

And for you specifically, as Youth and Young Adult; in other words, this Generation!

I want to look at the Passage of Scriptures that kind of that serves as our Foundation.

And we are going to spring from there and cover as many things as we can, in the time that is allotted to me.

Acts 13:22 in the New King James Translation; It reads this way:

And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave Testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do ALL MY Will”.

Once again, the last Part of verse 22 says:

‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My Will.’

And that little Clause: ‘A man AFTER My Own heart.’

From there, I want to deal with the Topic that I have been given today, and that is: TO BE A GOD CHASER.

Do me a favour, turn to someone that is near you. Shout to them (if you have to).

If you are watching this Virtually somewhere or reading on the Label of DMC; Tell somebody that is in your house, in your environment: ‘You are looking at a GOD CHASER!’

Say to yourself, say – Hey, hey, hey! Self: ‘I AM A GOD CHASER!’

With the given opportunity, if you look at the very last Chapter (Chapter No. 22) of the very last Book of the Bible – the Book of Revelation. When you go down to verse No. 16 – Revelation 22: 16.

You are going to hear the Lord Jesus Christ identify Himself for the LAST time. And calls Himself: ‘THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR”.

Revelation 22:16, here is the Lord Jesus Christ saying: “… I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star”.

This is a traded Passage of Scripture that has a lot of implications.

Let me just read out three (3) very quickly before I move on. It is Implying that:

1. Because He is in the last Book and it is the last way that He identifies Himself – He wants this to leave a LASTING IMPRESSION.

He does not want you to forget what He calls Himself; if you forget anything else, He says: I Am the Bright and Morning Star.’

2. The second (2nd) thing this implies is that; This is something He wants to STICK with you.

Because He is in the LAST BOOK, and the Last Chapter. And it is the LAST Way that He identifies Himself:

He says: I want you to HOLD ON TO THIS NAME that I am calling Myself.

If you forget any other name, Remember this that: I AM THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR.

3. And then thirdly, it implies that: He is given HOPE of a BRIGHTER TOMORROW.

Come on, say it to your of own self. Say: My Tomorrow is going to be ALRIGHT!

Now, you are wondering: Pastor Bamidele, why did you even link that?

Because, that is your OVERALL THEME for this Conference – The THEME of this Virtual Youth and Young Adult Convention is: “THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR.”

And so, the Lord Jesus Christ wants to make sure that you are aware that He is saying this; before He then made the statement, saying: ‘I Am coming quickly.’

In other words, He is identifying Himself before there is an Advent or a Return, or a Break or a Shift from what has been, to what is now, to take place!

You will remember that a Dark Season of the world’s history: Some years gone by; that Wise Men uprooted from where they were and they went looking for the One that was going to be BORN the KING!

And they said they were looking for Him as a result of a BRIGHT STAR that they had seen.

You will see that in Matthew 2:2, when you are going to see where they said that they came to ask of King Herod:

“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?”

WHY? – “For we have seen His STAR in the East and have come to worship Him.

Which means that whenever the Bright and Morning Star is about to make an Advent or is about to do something; it is because there is about to be a Shift in the world

A SHIFT on how everything is SEEN and how everything is done.

Please, let me tell you that these Astronomers these Astrologers, these Wealthy Scientists that we call ‘THE WISE MEN;’ they uprooted from where they were in an effort to connect with a New move;

And that SHIFT that had been Prophesied, that had been Preordained, that had been Predestined.

And they said: We want to be a Part; and so we are willing to leave where we are!

… Watch this!

And go after, CHASE after, go looking for what we have been hearing about.

Let me Please announce to everyone of you that are here at this Conference or reading on the Label of DMC: For those of you that are watching this from you homes; for those of you that are sitting in some of your Churches and you are doing this virtually as a Group setting; for those of that are sitting in the Camp Ground – Can I please, tell you that it is not by coincidence, it is not by accident that you are here right now – reading on the Label of DMC.

It is not by coincidence that, the Almighty God as you are listening, as we are speak or reading on the Label of DMC.

Neither the Conference nor the Theme of the Conference, nor my TALK for today, is something that is just coming from out of the air.

It is something that has been Predestined, Preordained and Prophesied because, there is a SHIFT that is taking Place!

And you, this current Generation; in the Culture that we are in right now, what the Almighty God is doing is: He is Raising you up, He is Empowering you.

He is now saying to you that you are the ones that are going to carry the SHIFT.

You are the ones He is going to use at this Season, to be the ones that REIGNITE the Flame.

That REIGNITE the Fire of God that will announce the Arrival or the Return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

There is a SHIFT! – It is like the leg of a race; where one (1) Person runs the leg of the Race.

When they have run their leg, they pass the baton to the next one.

I will never forget that the last time that I was sitting down with my friend and my brother – Dr. Myles Munroe (Blessed Memory of that great Man of God).

We were eating together, and he said something to me. He said: James, I want to tell you about a dream that I had.

And when he told me the dream, he said that in the dream, he said he gone to a Funeral of a Great Man of God.

He said that when he got close to looking into the Casket of the Great Man of God at the Funeral; he said this – He said when he got close to him, he was in the Casket with his hands crossed. But he was holding on to a baton.

He said: When I tried to grab the baton from his hand, he held a death grip on it and was holding on to the baton.

He then said that he woke up from the dream!

He then looked over at me, Placed his hands on me and he said: James, DON’T DIE with the baton in your hand!

I am saying that because, I believed that the Almighty God – If you have been watching and you have been listening over the Past few Months with everything that has been happening with the Pandemic.

You have been hearing about Great Leaders that have been dying.

You have been hearing of Great People of Great, Renowned and Authority – Even in our Country, many Great Pastors, one Organization; in the midst of this whole Pandemic, have tidy up their Leaders, to die within a three (3) Month Period.

Why am I saying that to you?

It is because there is an Old Regime that is moving off the scene and there is a New Regime that is supposed to be waiting – Running in Place with their hands outstretched, waiting for the BATON to be PASSED!

It is no longer time for you to be able to say that: ‘We are the Church of Tomorrow or, ‘I have got time to do this thing so!’

No! – It is the Almighty God calling to you right now!

And you are an Aggressive Community, you are an Aggressive Society – You are the ones who are now going after the Kingdom VIOLENTLY.

That is why the Bible says in Matthew 11:12, it says:

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth Violence, and the Violent take it by force.”

It was because John the Baptist was:

• One whose hair was uncombed;
• One who did not dress in fine linen;
• One who spoke TRUTH to Power.
• He was one that was not INTIMIDATED.

And because he was not intimidated, the Spirit of that same John the Baptister has been released, and unleashed on your Generation.

And you, I Prophesy – are going to be the one that takes up the Mantle – Amen.

And will still be saying in the Workplace, you will still be saying in the Industry of Hollywood, you will still be saying while you are moving in the Fashion Industry.

And while you are setting up your own Businesses, you will be saying: Look at me, but the Kingdom of God IS AT HAND!

If you know that you are that Generation, right where you are, just throw your head back and shout Hallelujah – HALLELUJAH!

So then Beloved, I share with you that there is a link!

What did I now just say? – That THERE IS A LINK!

There is a CONNECTION between the THEME of this Conference – THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR and the TALK that I am supposed to be doing. And that is: BEING A GOD CHASER.

The Bright and Morning Star, and a GOD CHASER. – Hmmm!

What are we saying now?

We are saying that there is something that is Connecting with that Theme and the Topic of this Talk.

What do we mean when we say ‘A GOD CHASER?’

A GOD CHASER is made up of two (2) words – GOD and CHASER.

… That is all it is – GOD and CHASER.

When you talk about GOD, you are talking about something that is Divinity.

You are talking about the One who is not MOVED by the order of the Laws of Nature but He MOVES the Laws of Nature to His ORDER.

He is the One that controls EVERYTHING.

It means that He is the OBJECT of your Pursuit.

If it is GOD CHASERS, then it means that God is the OBJECT of the ones who are doing the Chasing.

He is is what you are after!

Now, when I was in Seminary, working on one of my Degrees – When I was taking Systematic Theology, the question was asked: WHO IS GOD?

And here is what the response was:

“God is Perfect and Infinite Spirit in whom ALL things have their Source, their Support and their Earning.”

Here is the way that Acts 17:28 will capsulize that statement. It says it this way:

For it is IN HIM that we live, it is IN HIM that we move and it is IN HIM we have our Being.

In other words, if you have been the one who is a CHASER OF GOD; you are chasing the One that has your LIFE in Him!

1. You are Chasing the One that controls your very EXISTENCE.
2. You are Chasing the One that as He MOVES, He gives you the ability to MOVE!

So, that is what we are talking about when we say, GOD.

But what do we mean when we say CHASER?

I had to go on and Study up – Looking up the word CHASE.

What does the CHASE mean?

It means that there is someone who is a PURSUER of something!

So, if you a GOD CHASER, that means that you are in Pursuit of Divinity; you are in Pursuit of the One who holds your LIFE, your TIMES in His hands.

That your existence is not going to mean anything, if you don’t have Him!

So, you are running after the One in whom there is LIFE; and that Life was the the Light of men.

So you are CHASING the One who has the BRIGHTNESS in Him to get you out of the darkness that you are in!

Oh, I am talking to someone right now: That the Almighty God has called you forth, at a time like this because He knew that you are in a Season of darkness and He is calling you to His Marvelous Light.

So now, what does it mean TO CHASE?

… I am glad that you asked!

I am not going to talk about the ten (10) different definitions that I saw for CHASING; but there are three (3) that I want to Link – Just for the sake of this TALK. And then we are going to Pray.

What does CHASE mean?

1. CHASE means to follow RAPIDLY or INTENTLY, to CEASE it or to EMBRACE it.

So right away, you know that if you are a GOD CHASER, you can’t be LAZY!

If you are a GOD CHASER, you cannot be SLOTHFUL in your work or your duties.

It means to follow rapidly or intently; to cease it or to embrace it.

… This speaks to desire!

Say that one with me: It speaks to DESIRE!

The Bible talks about this, and you will see it in Philippians 3:12 – Where Paul says this about going rapidly or intently to cease or to embrace.

Here is what Paul said:

“Not that I have already attained, or am already Perfected; but I Press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.”

… That I may lay HOLD OF: that I may cease, that I may embrace.

He says, I am wanting to grab a hold of whatever it was, that God saw in me, that made Him grab a hold of me.

I am now CHASING AFTER HIM to try to see:

• Why did He want me?
• What made Him want me out of everybody else?
• What did He see in me, that made Him say: I CAN’T MAKE IT WITHOUT YOU?

Oh! That is why He is calling on someone that is listening to me right now or reading on the Label of DMC – He is now saying: I want you to want me as desperately as I want you.

He says, I saw something in you! I don’t care if you have thoughts of darkness, thoughts of suicide, thoughts of giving up, thoughts of throwing in towel.

He says: No, No, No! He says: I want you to come after me, because I got something that I saw in you – That if you CHASE after Me, you will be able to know why I keep giving you chance after chance, opportunity, after opportunity.

Oh, if you have an opportunity to even look at it!

David said it, Yes, that is what DESIRE is – You will see it in Psalms 27:4. David said:

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: (will I CHASE after)

So when you hear the word CHASERS:

The first definition is: It means to follow rapidly or intensely, to cease or to embrace.

… And that speaks to your DESIRE.

The second (2nd) Definition – when you hear about CHASERS:

2. It means to FOLLOW or to devote one’s ATTENTION to a thing with the hope of ATTRACTING it or WINNING.

Come on, somebody by the way say: I AM A WINNER!

The Bible says: If that is what the devil needs to hear, that means:

To devote my ATTENTION to it, and to go after it with the intense Purpose of WINNING.

We see this as Paul wrote to us in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.

He says this:

24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

25 And everyone who competes for the Prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a Perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.

27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

He says that everyone runs in a Race, but only one (1) receives the Prize!

I told you that the first (1st) Definition spoke about DESIRE!

This one talks about DISCIPLINE.

He (Paul) says, so what I do is that I BEAT my body and I treat it roughly to make it do what it is supposed to do and not what it wants to do.

So, that after I have enlisted others, I don’t want to be told that ‘I am DISQUALIFIED.’

So he says, if I am going to be a GOD CHASER:

• I have to Line up my DESIRE;
• I have to Line up for the sake of my DISCIPLINE.

You will see that in Philippians 3:12-14.

Here is what Paul says:

12 Not that I have already attained, or am already Perfected; but I Press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

14 I Press toward the Goal for the Prize of the upward Call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Remember, the second definition of CHASE is that: We go after a thing with the hope of attracting it or WINNING.

… have to DISCIPLINE myself!

Come on:

1. You don’t want to be just another average Person;
2. You don’t want to be another Person that fits in to every other Person else.

I have heard so many Young People that I talk to, and they say: Oh, Pastor Bamidele: Why can’t I just be normal?

Pastor Bamidele: Why can’t I get away with what everybody gets away with?

Pastor Bamidele: Why does it seems like God is so strict?

It is because He has CALLED you Out. And there is something SPECIAL that you are asking for.

And if you are asking for something SPECIAL; you have got to have DESIRE – Yes, I want it!

But you have got to have DISCIPLINE to say I will do whatever I have to do:

• I will TRAIN myself;
• I will keep my body UNDER;
• I will CONTROL the thoughts that I have!

… I will like JOB SAID!

Job said: I have made a Covenant with my eyes, so that I won’t look on a Young Woman.

You have got to have the ability to make a contract with your body, and know that your flesh is your enemy.

You have got to deal with the enemy that is within you, so that the enemies that is outside of you cannot stop you!

So, we say that if you want to be a GOD CHASER, to CHASE means that:

No. 1 – It speaks to DESIRE

No. 2 – It speaks to DISCIPLINE

But if you are going to be a GOD CHASER, here is what it says:

3. The third (3) Definition that was there. It says: To FOLLOW and PURSUE GOD.

The First (1st) Definition says that: We follow INTENTLY.

The Second (2nd) Definition says that: We Follow with the objective to Attract or to WIN!

The Third (3rd) Definition says that: We Follow and PURSUE GOD.

In other words, this is just speaking to DEDICATION.

The First (1st) Definition spoke to DESIRE;

The Second (2nd) Definition spoke to DISCIPLINE;

The Third (3rd) Definition Speaks to DEDICATION!

HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?

How WILLING are you?

I am in PURSUIT of something!

That is why the Bible reads in that Passage of Scriptures that I read as our Text – Acts 13:22.

I want to read it again in Amplified Version of the Bible:

‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart [conforming to My Will and Purposes], who will do all My Will”.

Chasing, Pursuing, going ardently with a Desire to Embrace and to Cease and to WIN My heart!

… That is what I was looking for!

All of David’s brothers just wanted the Throne;

All of David’s brothers just wanted the notoriety;

But all I was looking for is somebody who is willing to carry out My Assignment.

I gave My People King Saul – And all Saul wanted was the Notoriety. He built a monument yo himself!

He did not even carry out the Assignment of killing all of the Amalekites and killing the King Agag. And he kept all of the good stuffs for himself.

And he lied to Me, saying that he was going to give it as a Sacrifice.

And I am talking to some Young People right now: Please, don’t let the aura of Prestige, don’t let the aura of Money; don’t let something keep speaking into your hear:

Telling you how wonderful you are; how great you are – Make you forget where you were before God found you.

And that it was God that gave you this opportunity.

You have got to be like David, that his heart PURSUED!

And here is the last Part of that Scriptures – It says: ‘And he will conform to My Will and My Purposes, who will do all My Will.’

That is why King Saul got crossed on the carpet; for getting out of the line.

He lied and said: The People made me do this, and the People made me do that!

Yet, when David fell into Adultery, and messed up and got the husband of the woman he was going to take killed;

When he was confronted by the Man of God, David said: I am the man! And he repented and accepted what was being administered to him as Judgement.

I am telling you right now, that what God will do (if you are honest with Him):

And because David had admitted that he was an Adulterer; admitted that he had messed up; the Bible says that when God said: I Am going to build the Temple, David said: Lord, can I build it?

And God said No, you can’t build it – You have got too much blood on your hands!

But I tell you what; I Am going to let it stay in your family!

David said, but can I Please, at least buy all the material. Can I buy all of the stuff? Can I buy all of the things that are necessary to build the Temple?

David said: I just want to make sure that it stays in my family!

And I am talking to someone right now or reading on the Label of DMC: That the reason why you are where you are is not that you are a wonderful individual; not because you cross every ‘T’s’ or Dot every ‘I’s’.

But you have some mothers, some fathers, some grandmothers, some grandfathers, some Ancestors who made a Covenant with GOD!

And you are the one, even though they did not get a chance to see certain things; didn’t get a chance to have certain things; you are getting it now, because of the foundation that they have laid.

So then, if I am going to be the one:

• That has the DESIRE;
• That has the DISCIPLINE;
• And had the DEDICATION.

The question is: WHAT TYPE OF CHARACTER CAN BE A GOD CHASER?

As I come to the conclusion of this:

The Character of the individual that is going to be a GOD CHASER is that:

1. It has to be an individual that is PURE!

Come on, say that right where you are!

… I hope you are taking note?

It has to be a question of PURITY.

Why does it have to be a question of PURITY?

Because the Bible says in 1 Peter 1:16. It says: “Be Holy, for I Am Holy.”

So listen: if you are CHASING GOD, and God is HOLY – If you expect to ever catch Him, you have to have the Character of HOLINESS.

Why is that? It has got to be the Character of PURITY – that is No 1

2. Because you want to PARTNER with Him.

What do you mean, ‘I want to PARTNER with Him?’

I. The Bible says in Amos 3:3; “Can two (2) walk together except they be agree?”

So a GOD CHASER must be PURITY, because the object of their CHASE is PURE!

II. Secondly, they must be ready to PARTNER with Him.

Because, before you PARTNER with Him, you must AGREE.

3. The third (3rd) Character of People who want to be GOD CHASERS is that: “They must be PASSIONATE for Him.

Why must they be PASSIONATE for Him?

David taught us this way – He said in Psalms 42:1:

“As the hart Pants after the water brooks, so Pants my Soul after thee, O God.”

… Oh GOD!

In other words, God, I want You so desperately. I want You so much, until I will walk away from everyone else.

I will leave everything!

You are more desirable (like Job said) than my Pleasant food.

I want You, like the deer needs water!

He says, it must be the characteristics of PURITY;

Because you want to PARTNER with Him.

And you must be PASSIONATE about Him.

Well, that will be enough for me to start rounding up right now.

And we could go on and conclude with Prayer.

But there is one last thing I want to tell you, about the Characteristics of one that is going to be a GOD CHASER;

… And David told us that, as well.

See, the individual that is going to be a GOD CHASER, if we follow David’s Characteristics;

• He has got to be one, not just PURE;
• Not just one that is PASSIONATE;
• Not just one that wants to PARTNER;

1. But he has got to be one who is a PRAISER.

Oh, why must it be a PRAISER?

Because here is the beautiful thing about the entire Concept of a GOD CHASER.

… Are you ready for this?

The Bible days this in Psalms 22:3:

But You are Holy (here is the PURITY), You are Enthroned (there is the PARTNERSHIP) in the PRAISES of Your people.

In other words, here is the Good News that:

• When you become one who is PURE
• One who has PARTNERED
• One who is PASSIONATE
• And one who is PRAISER

Get ready for this: You won’t have to be CHASING GOD;

… I am so excited!

GOD will be CHASING you! – He is looking for you.

Here is what the Bible says – It says it this way in John 4:24.

It says: God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship (HOW?) in Spirit and Truth.

Why? – Because the Father SEEKETH such.

In other words, God is looking for somebody that would PRAISE HIM

He is looking for someone that would Worship the Lord.

That means, as our father in the Lord, Pastor E.A Adeboye (our Daddy G.O) says: “Two (2) Captains cannot sit in the Ship at the same time”.

Therefore, if you are sitting in the Ship of LONELINESS – if you start PRAISING God; the One that says, I will never leave you nor forsake you will COME, sit right where you are and will have to run LONELINESS out of your Ship – Amen!

If you are sitting in a Vessel of POVERTY; the One who says that the Silver is Mine and the Gold is Mine – When you start PRAISING that One, He will COME and sit with you in Your Vessel, and the POVERTY will leave you – Amen!

If you the one who is sitting down and you are saying: I have got sickness on me; if you can just give Him GLORY, shout HALLELUJAH to Him; then the One who said: If you will be Obedient to Me, and harken to Me, I won’t put any of these sicknesses upon you (that was on the Egyptians) – the SICKNESS would have leave you – Amen!

I don’t know who I am talking to right now; but I do know, that God has sent me to tell you that if you catch on Fire for Him, and you Run AFTER Him:

Then this day – No matter how many more days to go in this Conference, no matter who else is coming after me, or who came before; that this Particular Message, this Particular day, is your Turning Point – Amen!

And everything will turn around for you, for the BETTER, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ – Amen!

So now, I need for you, right where you are, I want you to get your pen, get your iPad. Get everything together, because I want to give you some Prayer Arrows.

And we are going to write them down; we are going to Pray these Prayers Arrows together.

And then you can Pray them in your own time, after I am done, and when you are at home (alone); you can Pray them with your loved ones together,

You can get a circle of some of your Peers, and all of you who are walking Purposely; who are going to be GOD CHASERS.

And you are going to Pray these Prayer Arrows together.

PRAYER ARROWS

I told you that David said in Psalms 42:1. He said: “As the deer Pants after the water brooks, so Pants my Soul after thee, O God.”

So my Soul – Mind, Emotions, Desire, Intellect;

My Soul – A Part of me within my Spirit Man and my Physical Man;

… My Soul Pants after You!

1. Here is the first (1st) Prayer Arrow.

You are going to lift your voice and say: FATHER; GIVE ME AN INSATIABLE APATITE FOR MORE OF YOU.

… Right where you are, come on, begin to Pray that Prayer Arrow.

Thank You LORD! In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!

… So shall it be for you.

2. The second (2nd) Prayer Arrow you are going to Pray right now is this:

Watch this! Because we found out that David said in Psalms 27:4. David said: ” One (1) thing have I desired of the LORD,

You are going to lift your voice to the Almighty God, and you will say Father: LET ME NEVER BE DISTRACTED WHILE I AM CHASING AFTER YOU.

… Come on, you can write that down but we want to Pray now!.

Thank You my Father and my God! In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!

Come on, shout a bigger Amen than that – AMEN!

… So shall it be for you, in Jesus’ Name – Ame !

3. I want to understand that the Bible says something about the Church of Laodicea in the Book of Revelation.

It says that the Problem with the Church of Laodicea was that they neither HOT nor COLD.

… But they were LUKEWARM.

We are going to Pray tonight. Write this Prayer Arrow down.

And that Prayer Arrow is going to be: FATHER; GIVE ME THE GRACE TO STAY QUITE HOT FOR YOU, IN A WORLD THAT HAS GONE COLD.

… Grant that to me, Lord!

Come one, Pray that Prayer Arrow right now!

Thank You LORD! In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed -Amen!

4. Finally, your last Prayer Arrow is this; you are going to Pray to the Almighty God.

Because the Bible says in Luke 9:62. It says:

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the Plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

You have read the story; the Bible says that Lot’s wife has been DELIVERED out of Sodom and Gomorrah. But yet, she LOOKED BACK and turned into a Pillar of Salt.

You are going to Pray now: FATHER THE GRACE TO KEEP GOING FORWARD, GRANT THAT TO ME NOW.

Go ahead and Pray that now!

Thank You LORD! In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!

… And so shall it be for you in Jesus’ Name – Amen!

Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!

I welcome us this wonderful time in the Presence of God or as you read this Message on the Label of DMC.

Day Two (2) of the Virtual Annual Youth Convention, tagged: “THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR”.

It is my Prayer that God will raise wonderful Stars amongst us, in the Mighty Name of Jesus – Amen!

Let us Pray!

OPENING PRAYER

Our Eternal Father, we Thank You for You are Faithful.

We Bless Your Holy Name for this Great time in Your Presence.

Thank You Father because in You we Live, in You we Move, in You we have our Being!

As we go into Your Words, Please Holy Spirit, speak Your Words to our hearts.

Thank You Precious Father; in Jesus’ Name we have Prayed – Amen!

Let someone shout Hallelujah – Hallelujah!

I sincerely want to Thank God for the life of our father in the Lord (Pastor E.A Adeboye), the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

And our beloved Mummy, Pastor Folu Adeboye. May the Lord Bless you, in Jesus’ Name – Amen.

Thank You for showing us the Way, and ensuring that we follow suite. The Lord will increase you, in Jesus’ Name – Amen!

Now, quickly, the Topic before us is: “THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR.”

Our Bible Reading is taken from the Book of Revelation 22:16:

“I Jesus have sent mine Angel to testify unto you these things in the Churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star.”

Children of God, you understand that Jesus is also called: ‘The Bright and Morning Star”.

He said: He is the Root of David, and also the Bright and Morning Star.

That means the other Name of Jesus is ‘the Bright and Morning Star”.

… Not just the ‘Bright Star’ but the ‘Bright and MORNING Star.’

In the Book of Numbers 24, before Jesus Christ was born, there was a Prophecy said about Him.

Numbers 24:17 – “I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a STAR out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.”

Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star; and the Scripture gives a vivid illustration about Him.

• What He is Supposed to do.
• And How He is supposed to RUN His life here on Earth.

We have a long list of People who have done so marvellously well in their chosen careers.

We have Stars in the Football Field, we have Stars here and there. You know, in the Lawn Tennis or whatever!

Everyone who has separated themselves become one Star or the other; that we are talking about today!

But there is something about the Person of Jesus Christ: He is not just a Star, He is THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR.

Today, we are going to be looking at some Outlines:

1. WHY IS JESUS CALLED THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR?
2. THE CONNECTION BETWEEN JESUS AND US.
3. THE ATTRIBUTES/CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR.
4. AND WE ARE STARS!

The Bible says He has chosen us to BE LIKE HIM – He said: “As He is, so are we in this world.”

So He expects us to RISE and to SHINE in all areas of our life’s endeavour.

We are told by Scholars that: ‘On a LONG night, the appearance of the morning star means DAY BREAK is imminent.

This explains why John 10:10 says:

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:

He says: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The moment you see the Morning Star, it shows that DAY BREAK is about evolving.

The moment you see the Morning Star, it shows that something is opening up to the NEW DAY.

1. SO, WHY IS JESUS CALLED THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR?

I. HE GIVES HOPE.

Jesus is the One who gives Hope to the hopeless.

In the Book of Matthew 11:28; He says:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST.”

Maybe you are in the Season of darkness and things are not actually moving well; the Purpose of the Bright and Morning Star is to give Light; His Purpose is to lighten your darkness.

You cannot have the Bright and Morning Star in your life and still be experiencing DARKNESS.

… Why is Jesus called the Bright and Morning Star?

II. HE GIVES DIRECTION.

In the Book of Matthew 2:2, it talks about the Wise men that came, looking for the Star of JESUS.

Let’s look at what they said in that Matthew 2:2:

“Saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the East, and are come to worship Him.”

… They located the Star of JESUS.

They were looking for DIRECTION; and the Star was able to direct them.

There are some People, especially among the Youths and Young Adults – Some of us have LOST direction; you don’t know where to GO, or the next STEP to take!

The Bright and Morning Star gives DIRECTION!

And that is one (1) striking function why He is called the Bright and Morning Star.

Apart from giving HOPE, He gives DIRECTION!

The Bible says in the Book of Psalms 32:8; “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

When the Bright and Morning Star comes into your life; there is DIRECTION.

… And that is what Jesus has come to do!

Now, the Scriptures talking about it in the Book of 1 John 4:17, it says:

“Herein is our love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as HE IS, so are we in this world.”

The Scriptures did not say: ‘As He WAS’. It says: ‘As He IS.

Who is the Scriptures talking about here?

The Person of JESUS – Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star.

So it says: As Jesus IS, so are WE in this world:

We are to give Direction; we are to give Clarity of Purpose to People that are groping in darkness.

The Bible says in the Book of 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a New Creature: Old things are Passed away; behold, all things are become New.”

When you come in contact with the Bright and Morning Star, you become a STAR yourself!

And that is why the Scripture is saying: As Jesus IS, so are WE in this world:

Every child of God is supposed to be a STAR.

Every child of God is supposed to STAND OUT in the midst of darkness.

The Bible says “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” – John 1:5

… And darkness does not understand it!

2. WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR AND US – The Children of GOD?

I. *We are created in the IMAGE and LIKENESS of GOD – To begin to give Clarity of Purpose and Direction to People’s life!

The moment you are a Child of God; the ability to illuminate your world has come upon you.

So, the CONNECTION between the Bright and Morning Star and us (as Children of God):

II. The Bible says in the Book of Revelation 1:6 (Paraphrased): “He has raised us as Kings and Priests UNTO HIS GOD.”

Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star, and He has RAISED so many STARS to begin to live wonderfully in this world.

… We are meant to be Problem Solvers!

As STARS that we are, we are not supposed to HIDE under Bushels.

The Bibles says: The Light SHINETH in darkness – And we are the Light of the world.

III. So, the connection between us and the Bright and Morning Star is that: Jesus has IMPACTED that life in us.

As the Bright and Morning Star, He has birthed little Stars:

A. People that will begin to command Influence in all areas of their lives.

B. People that will begin to command Exploits in whatever they lay their hands upon.

The Bible talks about two (2) men – Peter and John in the Book of Acts of the Apostles 4:13 – Let us see what it says quickly:

It talks about two (2) wonderful guys, who were not SCHOOLED. They were NOT LEARNED – But there was something about them.

It says: “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and Perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”

“… They took knowledge of them, that they had been with JESUS.”

They got Associated with Jesus, and because of that, they began to SHINE because they were CONNECTED to Jesus!

There is what we call THE LAW OF ASSOCIATION – By the Law of Association, you BECOME who you STAY WITH overtime.

Peter and John dwelt with Jesus during His years on Earth and they began to Shine. They began to command Exploit because they were created as Star also.

That is the Attribute about us been connected to Jesus – He is the Bright and Morning Star and by the Law of Association; we are meant to SHINE in our world.

We are meant to means to be Problem Solvers (as He said). We are meant to give Solution to men.

The Bible also talks about two (2) brothers, Paul and Silas in the same Acts of the Apostles 17:6 – Let us see what it says:

“And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain Brethren unto the Rulers of the City, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;”

… These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also.

Jesus, when He walked on this Earth, He could not be IGNORED.

When Jesus walked on this Earth, People NOTICED Him – They knew something DIFFERENT had happened to them.

Also, when He left the world, He gave POWER unto men to begin to function in the Grace that was given unto Him.

… He gave POWER to men.

Paul and Silas were Commandeers of EXPLOITS; and that is what we saw here.

3. NOW, THE ATTRIBUTES OF JESUS AS THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR.

We have so much to learn of Him.

There were certain things that made Him to stand out and one of such:

1. Jesus, when He walked on this Earth was HUMBLE.

And when you look at the man called Lucifer, in the Book of Isaiah 14:14 – The Bible even referred to Lucifer as ‘Morning Star”.

But there was something that distinguished Jesus from Lucifer – JESUS WAS HUMBLE.

In the Book of Philippians 2:6 (Paraphrased) – It says: “He did not count it robbery to be equal with God.”

He ABASED Himself; He was HUMBLE to a fault.

But Lucifer eyed the Throne of God. He wanted to be like God; he wanted to be like JESUS; he wanted to take the Throne from GOD.

And the Bible says that when God saw that in his heart; the Scriptures says: He (God) DROVE him (Lucifer) out of Heaven, and some Angels with him!

One (1) striking character of Jesus Christ, as the Bright and Morning Star is the fact that He is HUMBLE.

And ad Children of God, that is something that we should learn from – HUMILITY of heart!

The devil became so Proud, the devil became so envious of God’s Throne.

And that was a DISTINCTIVE DIFFERENCE between Jesus and the devil.

… Jesus was HUMBLE; devil was PROUD!

2. Another ATTRIBUTE of the Bright and Morning Star is the fact that: He was FILLED with the HOLY GHOST.

In the Book of Acts of the Apostles 10:38, the Bible says:

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with Power: who went about doing Good, and Healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

You cannot function without the Holy Spirit.

The Bright and Morning Star was HEAVILY ANOINTED of the Holy Spirit.

3. Another ATTRIBUTE of the Bright and Morning Star; the Bible says in the Book of Luke 6:12 – Talking about when Jesus left the other Disciples to look for a Place to Pray: He was PRAYERFUL.

Luke 6:12 says: “And it came to Pass in those days, that he went out into a Mountain to Pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”

You hear People talk about: “Jesus started with PRAYER, and He ended with PRAYER.”

The Bright and Morning Star, the Man JESUS that we should REFLECT; was a man given to PRAYER.

4. Another ATTRIBUTE of the Bright and Morning Star: He LIVED a PURPOSEFUL Life.

I was telling some People; at the age of twelve (12) Jesus KNEW Purpose!

A Wise man (of Blessed Memory) said: “Where Purpose is not known, ABUSE is inevitable.”

Jesus KNEW from the world go, what He was meant to do.

The Bible says that His (Earthly) Parents were looking for Him and they found Him in the Temple.

He said: Why are you looking for me? Are you not aware that I should be in my Father’s Business?

At the world go, Jesus knew why He was here – He LIVED a life of PURPOSE.

In the Book of John 9:4; He said: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

The Attribute of the Bright and Morning Star: A Man that LIVED a Purposeful Life.

Youths and Young Adults, those watching us across the Globe or reading now on the Label of DMC:

• Why are you LIVING?
• What is your PURPOSE; what are you supposed to be doing?
• Do you know WHY you were BORN?

And that is one (1) thing: The moment you Associate with JESUS, you start living a Purposeful Life as a Bright and Morning Star!

Now, Jesus has RAISED us to be Stars. Like I did said in the Book of 1 John 4:17; He said: “As He IS, so are we in this world.”

4. WE ARE STARS!

In the world of Sports, you have lots of Stars (without mentioning names); there are some People that have distinguished themselves as Stars;

• They DON’T LIVE the same life like every other Person;
• They WATCH what they EAT;
• They WATCH what they DRINK;
• They WATCH when they WAKE UP;
• They WATCH when they SLEEP;

… I mean, their life is not like every other Person.

And that is what God also wants us to do – as LIGHT.

When we look at the life of JESUS; as the Bright and Morning Star;

• A Man that was HUMBLE;
• A Man that was PRAYERFUL;
• A Man that was FILLED with the HOLY SPIRIT.

WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO?

As Youths and Young Adults, I am trusting the Lord that after this Convention – As a matter of fact, before this Convention is over or you finished reading this Message on the Label of DMC: God is Raising up STARS, in the Mighty Name of Jesus – Amen!

1. You are supposed to WATCH the COMPANY YOU KEEP.

In the Book of Proverbs 13:20, it says: “He that walketh with Wise men shall be wise: but a companion of Fools shall be destroyed.”

For those Youths and Young Adults that are watching out there or reading this now on the Label of DMC – You want to be a STAR? Then WATCH the Company you keep.

It is written in 2 Corinthians 6:14: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what Fellowship hath Righteousness with Unrighteousness? and what Communion hath light with darkness?”

You cannot desire to be a STAR, and not WATCH the kind of People that you HANG OUT WITH.

I said, by Law of Relationship: “You become who you stay with, over time!”

There is this story in the Book of 2 Samuel 13:3.

We read about two (2) men called Jonadab and Amnon. The Bible says:

“But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.”

… and Jonadab was a very SUBTIL man!

Amnon wanted to sleep with his sister, Tamar but he did not know how to go about it. And so, he had a friend called Jonadab;

So Jonadab asked him: As a son of a King, why are you like this?

He said, I love my sister Tamar!

Then Jonadab gave him an advice; and he (Amnon) carried out the instruction.

No wonder, in the Book of Proverbs 1:10, the Bible says: “My son, if sinners entice thee, CONSENT THOU NOT”.

Do you want to be a STAR? – Then WATCH your Company!

It was the Counsel that Jonadab gave to Amnon that cut his life short because he was KILLED by Absalom (his brother).

Jonadab was a very SUBTIL man!

His Association with Amnon caused the latter’s untimely death.

As a matter of fact, in the Book of 2 Samuel 13:32-33, the Bible says that it was even Jonadab that announced the death of Amnon.

Beloved, who are your friends?

How can you be a STAR? – Because of your Association with the Bright and Morning Star as Youths and Young Adults.

2. We need to Live a SANCTIFIED Life.

A life that is SET APART for God! A life that is DEDICATED to God.

In the Book of John 14:30 (Paraphrased) Jesus speaking, He said: “For the Prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”

As the Bright and Morning Star, He was STAINLESS – There was no STAIN in Him.

So, if we want to pattern our life in Him, as Youths and Young Adults that we are;

Then we need to live a SANCTIFIED Life.

There was this man that lived like Jesus in the Book of Daniel 6:4 – Talking about the man called Daniel.

All the Princes of that land wanted to nail Daniel – So they tried if they could get a fault in him.

But the Bible says, there was NONE!

They couldn’t find any fault against Daniel.

Beloved Youths, to be a Star – in Association with the Bright and Morning Star, you have to live a SANCTIFIED LIFE.

3. The other attribute that will make you a Star is: To Live a Life that LOVES SOUL WINNING.

In the Book of Daniel 12:3, the Bible says: “And they that be Wise shall Shine as the Brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”

… And they that turn many to Righteousness as the STARS for ever and ever.

Jesus was given to SOUL WINNING.

He said in John 9:4:

“I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

As the Bright and Morning Star, the moment He comes into your life: The ability to WIN SOULS; the hunger for Souls will come upon you.

And that is what the Scripture says in Daniel 12:3B – It says those that win souls will SHINE forever!

The devil was full of Pride, and the Bible calls him: A FALLEN STAR – fallen from Heaven.

Beloved Youth and Young Adult, there is a story of a man called Samson.

Samson was heavily Anointed of God:

• He was supposed to be a STAR in his Generation;
• He was supposed to Pattern his life according to the dictates of God.

But Samson was CARELESS with his life, that he LOST Purpose.

The Spirit of God would come upon Samson, He will lift a gate and command Exploits!

In another Chapter, you will see Samson go and do something that will annoy the Holy Spirit.

He kept on doing it, until a time came that the Holy Spirit could not condone that any more!

.. And what happened?

In Judges 16:20, the Bible says: “And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.”

The Bible says: He not know that the Spirit of the LORD had departed from him.

Beloved Youth and Young Adult, to get to the Point where God has created you to be a Star:

There are certain Qualities you must Possess.

There are certain Prices that you have to Pay.

… And these are the Prices that we have talked about.

• You must be Holy;
• You must live a Sanctified life;
• And a life that is given to Soul Winning.

Jesus is a man who lived a life of Purpose.

Jesus is the man who lived His life from the world go, He knew what He was supposed to do.

• Why are you LIVING?
• Why are you HERE?

Youths and Young Adults, are Stars meant to SHINE; wherever we are: In our Career, anywhere we find ourselves.

… We are supposed to REPRESENT JESUS.

Romans 8:19 says: “For the Earnest Expectation of the Creature waiteth for the Manifestation of the sons of God.”

God is expecting us to TAKE CHARGE;

God is expecting us to RULE in our world as stars that we are.

Stars are appreciated in the DARK.

I heard one (1) of the Speakers talking about the RELEVANCE of SALT: Salt is meant to PRESERVE.

And so, as Stars; we are supposed to SHINE in the midst of darkness.

And that is what the Lord is saying; Stars are appreciated in DARKNESS.

In Places where Light is not appreciated, when we see a Child of God that is functioning in that regard; you begin to Command Exploits.

Nigeria and the world at large need You! Nigeria and the world at large need STARS

People that will Pattern their lives according to the dictates of God.

In the Book of John 1:5, the Bible says: “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

What are you supposed to RUN AWAY FROM, as Stars?

… That is YOUTHFUL LUST!

The Bible enjoins us to run away from Youthful Lust.

The Bible enjoins us to live a life of Purity, a life of holiness, a lift that will give God Praise.

A life that is a Reference Point; that when People looks at us, they will know that: Yes; just like they said concerning Peter and John: These ones have been with Jesus Christ.

In case there is someone there or reading this Message on the Label of DMC, you have searched your life; and your life is Purposeless, there is no Clarity of Purpose, there is Nothing that speaks about Direction in your life.

When the Bright and Morning Star comes into your life, everything will begin to take Shape.

In the Book of Genesis 1:2-3, the Bible says:

“And the Earth was without Form, and Void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

When that LIGHT enters a man’s life, everything will begin to take Shape.

When that LIGHT enters a man’s life, darkness will be Dispelled.

And everything that does not have meaning will begin to have meaning.

The Bible talks about Jesus in the Book of Matthew 2:2.

It says: The People looked at His Star and they said; we have SEEN His Star!

… That is DIRECTION!

For those People that have lost Purpose; you have lost Direction; you don’t know where to turn to – Whether to the right or to the left – When the Bright and Morning Star enters into your life, everything will take SHAPE!

I encourage us – As many as are watching all over the Globe or reading now on the Label of DMC: Jesus cannot come into your life and your life is LESS THAN A STAR.

Jesus cannot come into your life and your life will not have MEANING.

Wherever you are, you are saying – Man of God, I have looked into my life; I need Clarity of Purpose, I need Direction.

I like you to Please, say this PRAYER after me (with the whole of your heart). You can put your hand on your chest and say:

LORD JESUS, I come unto You just as I am. Forgive me all my sins; and come into my life and change me. Write my name in the “Book of Life”. I am born Again, my sins are forgiven.

… In JESUS’ Name – Amen!

In conclusion:

1. God expects us to RULE our world;
2. God expects us to be that LIGHT.

The Bible says in Isaiah 60:1: “Arise, Shine; for thy light is come, and the Glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”

I am believing God so strongly that, before the end of this Virtual Convention; God will RAISE Wonderful Stars that will begin to command exploit in ALL their life’s endeavour, in the Mighty Name of Jesus – Amen!

Eternal Father, we Thank You!

We Love You because You have loved us!

We Thank You for the Gift that Lord, You have given unto us – in Person of JESUS!

Thank You for the Spirit that is in the life of Jesus; that is found in our lives by extension.

Lord, we Pray; Grace to begin to MANIFEST that Light, we receive in Jesus’ Name!

Help us to be LIGHT; help us to be STARS; to begin to COMMAND Exploits, in the Name of JESUS.

Thank You Holy Spirit; in Jesus’ Name we have Prayed – Amen!

If you know God has Blessed you, shout Hallelujah – HALLELUJAH!
