OPENING PRAYER

King of Kings and the Lord of Lords; the One who Promise that I will never leave you, I will never forsake you – Emmanuel Himself; we worship You.

We Thank You for Your Faithfulness, Thank You for Your Love, Thank You Your Support, Thank You for everything that You have done for us in the Past, Thank You for what You will yet do in Future – Father, accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.

Today, my Father and my God; in Your Own Miraculous Way, visit everyone of Your Children in Jesus Name.

Let everyone of us have a “Very Special Divine Encounter” with You in Jesus Name.

At the end of it all; let Your Name alone be Glorified; even as we Pray in Jesus Mighty Name – Amen.

Well, let someone shout Hallelujah – Hallelujah!

We are continuing with our Series on: “GOING HIGHER” as we move to Part 14.

Then we will be taking our Bible Text today from: 1 Kings 17: 8-16.

8 And the Word of the LORD came unto him (Elijah), saying,

9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the City, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I Pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I Pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of Meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the Earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of Meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the Word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

And this Section of the Story that we just read (Bible Text) is full of “Serious Lessons” – Some of which we can’t expend too much time on.

For example, you can find here that definitely God has a Great sense of Humour.

He told Elijah: I’m sending you to a Widow who is going to sustain you.

… And the Widow had only one Meal left – Who is going to sustain who now?

When He said that I’m sending you to a Widow to sustain you; one would have thought that He is sending him to a very rich Woman, who had Abundance of food.

But then, God works in Mysterious Ways, Wonders to Perform.

But because our time is limited; we will continue from the Point of view of Elijah himself as we go along and we will link him up with the Widow as the Story continues.

1. The first thing that you need to know because we are talking of you “Going Higher” is that you will know that you are rising when you begin to “Help Others”.

You will know that I am on my “Way Up”, when all of a sudden instead of just being Blessed, you become a Blessing.

According to Hebrews 7:7; the Bible says that: The Less is blessed of the Better.

When you get to the Stage where you become a Blessing; then at least you know that I am Higher than some People. I am no longer at the bottom. At least I have someone that I can say I am Higher than.

A Child begins to grow – You see a Sign of Growth in a Child when it moves from being carried to becoming someone we could say carry your Sister, carry your Brothers; Go and bring that cup.

… But you know that your Child is no longer what in Yorubaland we call “Gbenjo” (Carry him or her to dance).

A “Gbenjo” (Carry him or her to dance) is a baby who has everything done for him or her!

And if anytime, nobody is attending to him or her; he or she cries – That’s why we call them “Gbenjo” (Carry him or her to dance).

So, you rush, Pick him or her up and begin to dance to quietened him or her. You have to feed him or her, you cloth him or her, bath him or her – You have to do everything for her.

So, it doesn’t matter how long that you have been in the Church, if you are not “Helping Others” in any way; then you are a “Gbenjo” (Carry him or her to dance).

And if by the time a Child should be “Helping Others”; a Child is still sitting down helplessly doing nothing to help anybody; then that Child is retarded!

The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:2; it says: As New Born Babes, you should be drinking the Milk of the Word of God.

But in Hebrews 5:12-14; it says: If at the time you should be Teaching Others, you are still sitting down there to be taught the basics; then something is wrong with you!

You have been in the Church all these Years – You are not a Worker, you are not an Usher, you are not a Member of the Choir, you are not Teaching in the Sunday School; then you need to check to ask yourself today Point Blank: Am I a “Retarded Child of God” or what?

… The Sign now that you are rising is that you have now become a Help to somebody else.

Elijah gets up! There is somebody who needs Help.

You see: Anointing comes with responsibilities!

Matthew 20: 25-27; the Lord made it clear: To lead is to Serve.

The one who wants to be the Greatest must be the Servant to all – To lead is to Serve.

In Matthew 20:28; it says that you are calling Me Your Lord; He said that I am here to Minister and turn it to something Glorious.

The word “Minister” is a Latin word: “Ministri”.

It is a Servant – Househelp. That is the meaning of the word “Minister”.

It is the world who took it now and Put Glamour to it so that when the Minister is coming; everybody is shaking.

No! – The Minister is that fellow who will take the Chamber Pot out.

In those days, they don’t have Water Closet. And so in the bedroom, there is a Pot where the Master will do whatever he needs to do at night when be wants to ease himself.

The Minister is the one who will come and Pick that thing out in the morning, to come and clean it up.

… That is the word “Minister”.

So, when you hear: “Minister of God”; you are there to Minister, you are Servant to the People!

In John 13: 13-15; Jesus Christ said: I am Your Master but I am the one washing your feet – Giving you as an example.

You the Minister; you are to be the one to Minister, to serve.

Anointing is for Service!

Thank God that you are a Great Man of God, full of the Holy Spirit, there is no one like you (Mighty Man of God) – Congratulations!

1. Philip

In Acts 6: 1-6 – When they wanted to select those who will be serving food; the People we now call “Deacon” are nothing but Waiters – People who serve at the Table.

One of the conditions they asked for is that the Person must be full of the Holy Spirit.

… Anointing is for Service.

In Acts 8: 5-8; the Bible tells us that Philip went to Samaria to go and help the Needy there, help the sick, help those Demon Possessed – That was why he brought Joy to the whole City.

You are rising when you become a Help to the Needy – Take Note of that!

Because the moment you Proved to be a Good Servant; God will begin to Promote you.

Philip was a successful Preacher in the City of Samaria – In the City the Jews will not want to go to. That is where he went to.

From there, God Promoted him from Acts 8: 26-40.

We found out that as this boy has been Faithful in small thing, now let’s move him higher – Then He sent him to that Eunuch of Ethiopia: Go and meet him in the desert, talk to him, get him saved, get him Baptised and then let him take the Gospel to Africa.

You know what? – It is a Deacon that became what we will call “Continental Evangelist”.

… He was successful in a City and then God now link him up with a Man who will take the Gospel to Ethiopia in Africa.

And then when that fellow left; God moved him to a City called Caesarea (Acts 8:40). And when he got there; he continued to Minister so that by the time we got to Acts 21:8; he is no longer called a Deacon; he is now called an Evangelist.

… Philip, The Evangelist!

How did he get there? – He Ministered, he Served!

So, you want to be Promoted; you want to go Higher – Are you ready to serve?

… That is very crucial!

The moment you have an hunger to Help and even if all you want to do is to clean the Chairs before other People will come and sit on it; you then begin to rise!

2. Let’s take another Example – Let’s take this Young Man called Elisha.

Elisha was a very successful farmer – So, Successful that if we are to use today’s language; the father’s farm was very large that he needed twelve (12) Tractors to work on them.

But he was brought up that he was one of the People with the twelve (12) – He had eleven (11) workers working for his father and as a result of that you will think that he will sit down at home and continue to eat and drink.

… No, he was busy on the field.

When Elijah came to throw his Mantle on him; that boy according to the Scriptures became a Servant to Elijah – He began to Minister to him.

According to 2 Kings 3: 11-12; he was not even ordinarily serving Elijah; the Bible says that he was Pouring water on his hands. He forgot his “Big Mannism” and he became a Servant.

You will begin to rise when you begin to serve.

What followed?

Promotion came and he started going on from there Higher and Higher.

By the time you get to 2 Kings 2: 9-15 – He who started as one of the sons of the Prophet because he learnt to serve; went on from being Promoted to becoming the father of the Prophet.

He became the Servant of Nation – For example, in 2 Kings 2: 19-22; the first thing that confronted him as soon as he got the Promotion was that a whole City coming to him and saying: Hey, use your New Anointing, use your New Position; destroy the curse upon our City.

… When you begin to rise, you will begin to serve.

There are some of you listening to me or reading now on the Label of DMC; who are Elders in the Church now but you know the way by the Grace of God that you are brought up.

In those days, years ago (More than forty (40) Years ago; I had a Young Group of Young boys and girls (They are not Young now) and I call them: “Bible Study Leaders”.

They are what you will call “My Disciples”. And I will take them aside and I will teach them to serve so that when we have Conventions or any Major Program; they will be the one who will fetch the firewood, wash the Plates, do the cookings.

Today, many of them are either Assistant General Overseers (AGO’s) or Elders and et cetera, et cetera because if you will want to rise, you must learn to serve.

3. Consider the Apostles – They are Good Examples for us.

In John 6: 5-13; the Bible said that People were hungry and People came to Jesus Christ and said: Send them away as there is no money to buy for them here.

The Lord said: Don’t send them away. What do you have?

They got a boy who surrendered his Lunch – Five (5) loaves of bread and two (2) little fishes.

When the Lord blessed this food and He started breaking it; He handed it over to the Apostles – Go and Distribute!

But do you noticed one thing in that Story if you read it with Understanding – The Apostles are last.

They collected the food; they went to the People, they served them. It was after they finished serving them that they ate – When everybody was already full.

Ask these People that I call my “Bible Study Leaders” of those days – They learnt that whenever we have Conventions or any Special Program; we will be the one who will cook, we will be the one who will serve, we were always the last to eat.

How many atimes we have to Pray to the Almighty God to Perform a Miracle of Multiplication because many atimes the crowd is larger than the food we Provided.

So, if the People don’t get food; it means that we don’t get.

And if you ask them; they will tell you that after everybody has eaten; we gathered the Plates and we begin to wash the Plates.

I joined them to wash the Plates.

… To lead is to serve – You lead by example!

4. And then consider Apostle Paul – The Special one among them.

In Acts 28: 1-10; in the Island of Malta or Melita as the Bible called it.

When the People who were shipwrecked with Apostle Paul were on the Island and then somebody started a fire for them; it was Apostle Paul who went to fetch firewood to make the fire bigger.

And it was in the Process of Putting the firewood in the fire that a Serpent came out and fastened its head upon his hands – You know the Story.

And he shook the Serpent into the fire and the Serpent Poison had no effect on him – Take Note of that one.

If you are serving, you will get Special Protection.

If you serve, if you use your Anointing to do menial works; you will get Special Protection from God

The Bible went on further that when the People there saw that this Man didn’t die from the snake bite; they said that this Man is not an “Ordinary Man”. They even thought that he must be a “god”.

And so they brought him to the house of the Chief of the Island who was sick and he healed that Man.

And then they brought everybody else on the Island who needed Healings to him and he healed them.

I told you at the School of Disciples (SOD) – Those of you who had attended that: If you cannot do “Menial Labour” then you cannot heal.

The hands that are too important to wash Plates, to iron clothes, to shine shoes; if they lay such hands on you, they may just take off your hairs as nothing will flow.

The Almighty God recognises those People who are willing to be Servant and He gives them Special Anointing.

Now, there is something very interesting in this Story of Elijah coming to the Widow and saying: This your food will never finished – Just keep on Providing.

… Talking about the Section that just give me my own food first. Maybe we will look at that one sometimes in the Future.

Do you know that Elijah didn’t know that he has the Power to Perform that Miracle? – He couldn’t believed that he had it in him until it began to happen.

Oh, you say: No, No, No – A Man who could say let there be no rain and there was no rain; surely knows that he has some serious Powers.

Elijah was relying on Deuteronomy 28: 15, 23 and 24 where God Himself had already Promised that if the People will not obey Him, if they go away from Him, He said that He will shut the Heavens, He will turn their rains to Powder.

Elijah knew what he was doing.

Remember what he said in 1 Kings 17:1 at the beginning – He said as the Lord God of Israel liveth before whom I Stand, there will be no rain.

Because the People were worshipping Baal; so he was merely confirming what God has said when he shut the Heavens.

But there is no where in the Bible where he could have read where it is written – If a Widow will surrender her “Last Meal”; the Meal will keep on multiplying. He didn’t read about that in any Scriptures.

… He never knew that he could do such a Miracle.

And there are many of you listening to me now or reading now on the Label of DMC that you don’t even know that you are already Loaded.

I just want to encourage you – There is something in you already that can do Mighty Things!

And I’m Praying that in the Name that is above every other names; you will even begin to do those Mighty Things from today in Jesus Name – Amen.

Because for everyone of you true Child of God; there is always a first time to Perform a Miracle!

Exodus 14: 1-28; it was the first time anybody divided the Red Sea – Moses didn’t know that he has it in him to raise his hands and get the Sea Part.

Many atimes, it is in crises that will Pull out of you something that is there – The Power that had been Latent will jump into Action when you come face to face with a crisis.

For example in Judges 14: 5-6; it is when the Lion roared at Samson that suddenly he realised that there is something in me that can take a Lion and tear it into two (2) – There is no Precedent. He has never read about it that it was done before.

And you know what? – If you are a True Child of God, you are not Empty!

As a matter of fact; 1 John 4:4 says: Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

You are fuller than you know if you are a True Child of God – Particularly if you have been baptised in the Holy Spirit, you are fuller than you know.

I’m going to tell you two (2) Stories quickly before I close:

1. I was in Ilorin (Kwara State Nigeria) in 1979/1980 – It was at the University there and I was managing our “Little Church” that was in Ilorin (Kwara State Nigeria) in those days.

And as I was Praying one night, crying to God: Father, give me Power, I need Power to do Miracles, Signs and Wonders.

All of a sudden, I heard God saying: Shut Up. And I was glad because if He asked me to Shut Up, that means He has heard me.

… May you hear from Him today – Amen.

Give me Power, give me Power – The one I have given you, what have you done with it?

I said: Power! – If I have it, I won’t be asking for it.

He said: What is in Acts 1:8 – You shall receive Power when the Holy Ghost is come upon you.

He asked me to repeat the Verse the 2nd and then 3rd time.

I said: Ha, Ha – Thank You. Next Time that I see somebody in Need; I will use that Power.

The following morning as I woke up; there was this woman in my Sitting Room – The child has been sick, unable to sleep for two (2) weeks and they have told her at the Hospital: Take your child home; there is nothing anybody can do for her as she is going to die.

And she came and said: Pastor, I have brought my child for Prayers. The Hospital said the child can’t survive but now, she brought her to me.

… And I’m telling you that I was afraid.

But then I heard clearly in my ear: But yesterday night, you said Next Time you see somebody in Need you are going to deliver her.

But the woman didn’t wait, Push the baby to me and I had no choice; carried the baby and had to Pray.

Of course, as I was Praying with my eyes closed; suddenly the child went limp and I said that she is dead.

And when I finished Prayer quickly; I found out that the child had fallen asleep and that was the end of the Problem.

I Pray for someone here today or reading now on the Label of DMC: Before this day is out; you will Perform your first Miracle for God – Amen!

2. This one was in 1981 during my first Year as General Overseer.

And I was visiting all our Churches one by one and I got to Ilesha in Osun State Nigeria.

And because I had Plenty of time on my hands; after I ministered in the Evening, People will come for Counseling and Prayers the following morning.

And this woman brought her child – This child was born dumb, can’t speak (Deaf and Dumb).

I wanted to Pray the kind of Prayer that we Pastors love to Pray – We will Pray, believe now and go!

As I said: In the Name of Jesus Christ; the girl said Amen.

Ha, you see – God knows how to meet you at the Point of your Need. He knows very well that my Faith was very small – He didn’t even allow me to finish the Prayer.

I nearly jumped out of the window and the mother fell on the floor and began to roll – The one who they said can’t hear, heard; they said she can’t speak, she spoke.

There is something in you – Much Bigger than you know and the whole world is waiting for you to release this Power to them!

And in the Name that is above every other names that manifestation of the Children of God; that God has been expecting will begin with you today – Amen!

ALTAR CALL

And so, those of you who has not given your Life to Jesus Christ; you don’t even know what you are missing.

You see, because when you said you give your Life to Jesus Christ; it means God will come and dwell in you. And when God is dwelling in you; then Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

And so when you love that kind of situation when you too can begin to exercise the Power of the Almighty God; the first Step is to surrender your Life to Jesus Christ.

So, I’m asking you now: If you want to give your Life to Jesus Christ, wherever you are, bow your head in Prayer, cry unto Him and say: Lord Jesus Christ save my Soul, come and dwell in me.

The Bible says: Christ in me, the Hope of Glory.

Come and take over my Life, come and make Your Throne in my heart – I want to be Vessel unto Honour, save my Soul Oh Lord.

And those of you who has been saved; Please Pray for these your New Brothers and Sisters: Cry unto God for them that the Almighty God will save their Souls and that He will come and dwell in them so that they too can become Vessels unto Honour.

And for yourself; you now ask: From today onwards, the evidence that I’m already growing; let it begin to manifest.

… And the Almighty God that I know will answer your Prayers – Amen.

In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.

PRAYER FOR SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER

My Father and my God, I want to bless Your Name for Your Words and I want to Thank You especially for those who are surrendering their lives to You now.

Please, remember Your Promise that whosoever will come unto You, You will no wise cast out.

They have come to You now Father; Please receive them, save their Souls, wash away their sins and come and dwell in them so that they too very soon will become Vessels unto Honour.

From now on, whenever they cry to You; Please answer them by Fire.

And all Your Children – Particularly those who has been Baptised in the Holy Spirit; from today onwards let them begin to manifest Your Glory by doing Mighty Things for you.

In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.

Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!

And those of you who has given your Life to Jesus Christ; Please contact me as soon as Possible so that I can continue to Pray for you.
