Praise the Name of the Lord!
We Bless the Name of the Lord for the rendition of The Choir: May the Almighty God anoint you are fresh to the Glory of His Name – Amen.
And I want to thank my father-in-the-Lord once again, for the Privilege you have given to us to do this over and over again. God will bless you and Mummy – Amen!

OPENING PRAYER
Father, this is our heart cry. It is the Melody of our hearts that You will be honoured every day in our lives.
Thank You Jehovah God, Thank You our Loving Father, Thank You our Glorious Father. We worship and we adore You today again!
Thank You for bringing us into this Particular Platform once again to Study. To You be Glory. Accept our Thanks in the Name of Jesus!
Our Father and our God, Thank You for the Privilege and for the People who have been sending Mails and Comments; may their blessings never come to an end!
Lord, let the Grace of God be released into their lives.
And for our father, who has given us the Privilege, daddy E.A Adeboye, to do this; let Your Blessings be upon him.
For everyone who has requested for Prayer, answer them!
Today, I surrender my heart, my head, my mouth; a few things that You have imparted into my heart to say, that the Holy Spirit will help me to say it in a way that will bring Blessings to Your People.
Lord, even by the time You are using my mouth to say it, I will also be blessed.
Thank You Eternal Father. We worship You O God!
In Jesus’ Mighty Name we Pray – Amen!
Praise the Name of the Lord – Hallelujah!
We want to look at: “CULTIVATING A SOUND MIND.”
Or Developing A Sound Mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 is where we want to read:
“For God hath not given us the Spirit of Fear; but of Power, and of Love, and of a Sound Mind.”
The Lord bless the reading and hearing of His Words, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
“A Sound Mind is very crucial in the Christian Living because “Right Thinking” leads to “Right Living”.”
The Heart refers to our emotions and feelings; whereas the Mind refers to our thoughts, thinking, imagination, comprehension and logical reasoning.
Having a Sound Mind is very important because we move, make decisions and act according to the Perceptions and the comprehension of the Mind.
What you think you are, what and who you are; and your time – It depends on what you think you are in Christ.
So the Believers should cultivate and earnestly Pray for a Sound Mind.
NOW WHAT IS A SOUND MIND?
I will represent them with five (5) P’s:
- A Sound Mind is a PRUDENT MIND
- It is a Mind of Good Conduct and Behaviour;
- It is a Mind of Moderation and Temperance.
- It is a Mind of Purity and Honesty – Philippians 4:8.
These are dispositions and qualities given to us arising, from being Born Again.
… So the first P is a Prudent Mind!
- A Sound Mind is a PURE MIND.
2 Peter 3:1 says: “This Second Epistle, Beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your Pure Minds by way of remembrance:”
So, a Sound Mind is Washed and Purged by the Blood of Christ.
Hebrews 9:14: “How much more shall the Blood of Christ, who through the Eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, Purge your conscience from dead works to serve the Living God?”
- A Pure Mind is a Renewed Mind – Romans 12:2;
- A Pure Mind is found on the Pure Doctrines of God and Christian Virtues – 2 Peter 1:5-10.
- A Sound Mind is a PATTERNED MIND.
- Patterned after Righteousness;
- Patterned after Christ.
Philippians 2:5 says: “Let this Mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
- It is an Humbled Mind, Patterned after the Humility of Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 6:17 says: “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain Riches, but in the Living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;”
And this Patterned Mind is focused on Christ and things above.
Colosians 3: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the Right Hand of God.”
- A Sound Mind is a POWERFUL MIND.
I. A Powerful Mind is able to the discern and distinguish between evil and Good; between better and the best.
Hebrews 5:14 says: “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both Good and evil.”
Romans 12:2 says: Because the Mind is renewed, it is able to discern.
II. A Powerful Mind is able to discern the Will of God and Spiritual things.
There are People today who cannot separate between Spiritual and Physical Things.
Ephesians 5:17 says: “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the Will of the Lord is.”
III. Now, because it is a Powerful Mind, it is able to discern the Wiles of Satan.
2 Corinthians 2:11 says: “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
- A Sound Mind is a POSITIVE MIND.
… A Mind that is Optimistic and Hopeful.
2 Timothy 1:12 says: “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am Persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.”
Romans 8:28 says: “And we know that all things work together for Good to them that Love God, to them who are the Called according to His Purpose.”
Psalms 30:5 says: “For His anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is Life: weeping may endure for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning.”
… It takes an Optimistic and Hopeful Mind to wait!
I. When you have a Positive Mindset, you are able to feed on Christian Virtues.
Philippians 4:8 says … Think on those things.
II. And because it is a Positive Mind, you are able to meditate on the Word of God.
Psalms 1:2 says … His delight is in the Law of the Lord.
THE MIND IS A BATTLEFIELD.
… We are talking about CULTIVATING A SOUND MIND.
You need to cultivate a Sound Mind because the Mind is a Battlefield.
Though we have Sound Mind (for those who are Born Again); but that Mind is a battlefield. We fight against many enemies that desire to control our Mind.
In 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (The Kings James Version will be very, very Good):
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but Mighty through God to the Pulling down of Strong Holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every High thing that exalteth itself against the Knowledge of God, and bringing into Captivity every thoughts to the obedience of Christ;”
The implications here is that Christian warfare is in the Mind. The greatest battle ground that the world has ever known is in the heart.
Our day-to-day Victory in this battle would be determined by the type of Mind we have. It determines our Personal Peace and Joy as Christians.
Our effectiveness, Christian Testimony and Services to the Lord would be determined by the Soundness of our Mind.
It is therefore, imperative that we as God’s People will strive for Victory over the Power of the enemy of our hearts.
And one of the focuses of this Particular discussion or Study is:
I. To assist God’s People to be able to Master the Battle of their Mind.
II. To be able to Stand tall and declare that we are More Than Conquerors.
III. To be able to say ‘Christ dwells in me – and nothing can come against me.’
And I Pray that God Himself will take over the Battle of our lives and give us Victory on a daily basis, in Jesus’ Name – Amen.
WHAT ARE THE ENEMIES OF OUR MIND?
Quite a lot: Depression, Discouragement, Defeated Attitude, Discontentment, etc.
… All these are very displeasing to the Lord.
Murmuring and Complaining, Lustful or Sinful Thoughts, Doubt, Fear, Guilt (due to Personal Failure) and Sin – Whether Past or Present.
Falling into Temptations, Anxiety and Worries, Bitterness, Hatred, Anger, Jealous, Laziness, Cunning Craftiness.
Any of these enemies of our mind can ruin our Joy and Christian Testimony forever.
All these enemies of our Mind can be brought under control, because in 2 Corinthians 10:5; the Bible says:
“Casting down Imaginations, and every High Thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into Captivity every thoughts to the obedience of Christ.”
None of these enemies is too difficult to be conquered by any Child of God.
HOW DO I WIN THE BATTLE OVER MY MIND?
… I will mention Five (5) Things:
- HAVING YOUR MIND STAYED ON THE LORD
Isaiah 26:3 says: “Thou wilt keep him in Perfect Peace, whose Mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
… I love that Scriptures so much!
You have the responsibility of letting your Mind “Stay” on Him; while He has the responsibility of giving you “Perfect Peace” on one condition – And that is because you trust in Him.
“The Lord will keep us in Perfect Peace” – That is Peace from the attack of our enemies; giving us Perpetual Victory.
Notice also that this Victory and Peace (by the Power of God) is the key to Winning all Life’s Battles.
Also, you have this Power because your Mind is Stayed on God.
To have one’s Mind Stayed on the Lord is:
I. To have one’s Mind filled and focused on the Lord.
II. To concentrate, meditate, remunerate; and bring it out again continually all day long.
As David said: “Continually I meditate upon Your Word.”
III. Now to have one’s Mind Stayed on the Lord is to Place our “Absolute Trust” in the Lord.
Psalms 125:1 says:
“They that trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.”
IV. To have our Mind Stayed on the Lord is to believe all His Works of Old and to trust His Promises for now and in the future.
This of course, will involve reading and studying God’s Promises; learning about all His former works and about all His Promises.
V. To have our Mind Stayed on the Lord is to hide the Word of God in our heart.
Psalms 119:9-11 says:
“Wherewithal shall a Young Man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy Word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
Hide the Word of God in your heart so that the Holy Spirit will call it to your mind whenever you are under attack.
When Satan tempts you, you can bring out the Word of God that is hidden in your heart.
In Matthew 4:4; Jesus defeated Satan by the Word of God.
VI. To have our Mind Stayed on the Lord is to be Devoted and Committed to the Lord with all our Heart and Possessions.
For we didn’t bring anything to the Earth, and we won’t take anything away!
Everytime – Day and Night, we must remain Faithful and Obedient to His Words.
- REJOICING IN THE LORD.
… Rejoicing in the Lord is Present continuous.
Philippians 4 4 says: “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”
Nehehiah 8:10 says: “… For this day is Holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the Joy of the LORD is your Strength.”
When you rejoice, the devil is confused! And it will amaze you what rejoicing can do to your Mind.
If you are genuinely Born Again, you have the Joy of Salvation because the Spirit of God dwells in Your heart; by the finished work of Christ on the Cross.
- PRAYING TO THE LORD
Philippians 4 6-7 says: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by Prayer and Supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the Peace of God, which Passeth all Understanding, shall keep your Hearts and Minds through Christ Jesus.”
Instead of worrying, Pray! Stop wasting your energy on Worries.
And when you Pray, you actually draw Strength from the Lord.
Somebody says, Pastor, what should I include in my Prayer?
According to Philippians 4 6-7 – Our Prayers should include the following:
I. Supplication – That is: Ask God for what you Need.
The Lord wants us to ask for what we Need. We are to come boldly to the throne of Grace – Hebrews 4:16.
Sometimes we bear the whole burden, to our own detriment because we don’t want to bother the Lord with them.
But hear what 1Peter 5:7 says: “Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.”
… So, it must include Supplication!
II. Thanksgiving.
Many of our enemies will be defeated by the Power of Thanksgiving alone – If only we will exercise the Grace often.
The Wall of Jericho collapsed at the shouts of Thanksgiving – Joshua 6:1-20.
The battle against Jehoshaphat was conquered by Praises – 2 Chronicles 20:20-26.
So, when you Praise God, according to Philippians 4:7 – “And the Peace of God, which Passeth all Understanding, shall keep your hearts and Minds through Christ Jesus.”
You must stop worrying about the things you cannot Change.
- THINKING GOOD THOUGHTS.
If your Mind must be Stayed on God, you must Rejoice; You must Pray. But also Think Good Thoughts.
Philippians 4:8 says … Think on these things.
One of our biggest Problems is “Wrong Thinking” – So we need to start Thinking Right.
The countenance and disposition of a Person is much more affected by the Thoughts of his or her Heart.
The Heart reacts to what it thinks – So, think correctly!
Apostle Paul gave us example of things to think about in Philippians 4:8:
“Finally, Brethren, whatsoever things are True, whatsoever things are Honest, whatsoever things are Just, whatsoever things are Pure, whatsoever things are Lovely, whatsoever things are of Good Report; if there be any Virtue, and if there be any Praise, think on these Things.”
- Things that are True. It is Truth that you know that will set you free.
Jesus said in John 8:32 – “And ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free.”
- Things that are Honest, things that are Just towards God and your fellow men. So as not to be an offence to any one.
- Things that are Pure, Chaste and Holy.
- And it says something of Good Report, so as to Promote Good Name and a Godly Testimony among men.
- Things that Promote Good Morals, that are worthy of Praise – Think on these things.
- DOING THE RIGHT THING
Philippians 4:9 says: “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of Peace shall be with you.”
You need to follow through your word by putting Action into it! You must support your word by your Actions.
Thinking without doing is like saying without doing – So you need to act out your words by doing the right thing.
You may have the right thoughts, but you need to Put it into Action.
Notice the Promise of God:
“Peace and Presence are conditional on DOING.”
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7 – For God hath not given us the Spirit of fear; but of Power, and of Love, and of a Sound Mind.”
It takes conscientious efforts and discipline to win the battles of the Mind – It doesn’t just happen!
You can have a Sound Mind!
The Power of the Christian life begins with a Sound Mind.
And if we will Practice the things discussed here, I believe there will be a Great Change in our Thinking and Influence.
You need to Cultivate a Sound Mind; because the Natural Man is enemity with God and is at war with God.
ALTAR CALL
To have a Sound Mind, the Bible says: You must repent, if you are not Born Again.
And if you are Born Again, you must yield your entire being to Him in Total Surrender.
Bow your head wherever you are reading this Message on the Label of DMC, as we Pray!
PRAYER FOR SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER.
Eternal Father, we commit those People who are giving their lives today unto You; we Pray Lord Almighty, receive them into the fold of Christ. Lord, save them today.
Lord Almighty, let the Spirit of God come and Possess them to do the Will of God. Remove the stony hearts and replace it with Sound Mind.
For all the Believers who have certain war in their Minds, Jehovah God, give them the Grace to Master their Minds and to surrender to the Holy Spirit.
I Pray that You will take over the battles of their lives and there will be Testimonies after now.
Let everyone Possess Sound Mind, Decision Making and Good Conduct of life!
When it is time for us to give an account, we will hear: ‘Well Done! Thou Good and Faithful Servant’.
Everyone that needs a Miracle – As a result of receiving a Sound Mind today, give them their Miracles, and let the Name of the Lord be Praised!
In the kingdom of the Righteous, count us worthy to reign with You.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name we Pray – Amen!
