OPENING PRAYER
Father, we give You all the Glory, we give You all the Honour, we give You Adoration.
Thank You for Preserving us, Thank You because of Your Mercies – That is why we are not Consumed. Thank You because that Mercy is renewed every Morning; Thank You because that Mercy is with us even today.
Please accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.
Father, I Pray for all those who are listening to us now or reading now on the Label of DMC Label; Please Lord be Merciful unto us, be Merciful unto our families, be Merciful unto our Nations and Please be Merciful unto our Church.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!
Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!
Well, we are now moving over to: “GOING HIGHER – PART 34.
And our Bible Text remains 1 Kings 18:41:
And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a Sound of Abundance of Rain.
We learnt last week that as we grow Higher in the Lord, we want to look at the Scriptures Verse by Verse and see if there are Treasures that are hidden there that could be of tremendous benefits to us as Individuals so that we don’t just read the Story, gloss over it and let it go.
Last week, we started looking at this Story – We discovered that God must be Merciful because He Preserved a Nation through three and half Years of No Rain.

Now, we are not there when this People heard that Rain was on the way but we feel that it must have been very Good News to them.
They must have said: Ha, it’s going to rain again! – We survived.
If I were one of them, what would I have done? What is the Next thing that will come out of my mouth?
… That is the Next Lesson that we want to learn from this Story.
If I were there and I heard that there is the Sound of Abundance of Rain: I would have shouted Praise the Lord; I would have shouted Hallelujah!
- So the Next Lesson that we learnt from this Story is the issue of THANKSGIVING!
Why must we Thank God? – Especially for those of us who has been Preserved of the Mercies of God!
A. Because according to 1 Samuel 7: 12; Prophet Samuel laid an Offering on the Altar of God and shouted: EBENEZER – Thus far God had helped us, thus far God had helped me.
And my Brothers and Sisters listening to me or reading now on the Label of DMC: You too can say: Thus far God had helped us!
You see because when you look back – Not the Past three and half Years now; when you looked back all the way in your Life, you have reason to say: Hmmm, thus far God had helped me.
I. That my Pregnancy was not aborted when I was in my Mother’s Womb – And she could have done it and I won’t in any way going to stop her.
II. That I wasn’t a “Still Birth” – I could have been born dead and I wouldn’t even know. I would have known that for a while, I was kicking in the Womb and then all of a sudden everything stopped.
III. And then through my Childhood – Some of us when we looked back and consider the circumstances surrounding our Birth:
a. I mean death was awaiting some of us before we were born – If you don’t believe me, ask somebody like Moses. Before he was born, there was already a Decree: If this Pregnancy should result into a boy, kill him.
b. What about those of us who came into the world when there was Tetanus, when there was Smallpox or there were all manners of sickness and diseases that could kill a Child and we survived.

- Tetanus is a serious disease of the Nervous System caused by a toxin-producing bacterium. The disease causes Muscle contractions, Particularly of your jaw and neck muscles. Tetanus is commonly known as lockjaw. Severe complications of tetanus can be life-threatening.
- Smallpox is a disease caused by a poxvirus that is transmitted from Person to Person that causes high fever, characteristic rash, and may kill about one-third of those infected. Smallpox (also called Variola) is the only disease that has been completely wiped out throughout the world.
c. Some of us were not even Born in a Maternity Center – Some of us were Born in Places where there were “No Doctors” to help and yet we survived.
… Oh, thus far God has helped us!
Thank You Lord!
B. Why should we Thank God – Those of us who are alive enough to hear or ready this Sermon?
The Bible says in Psalms 124: 1-end that: If the Lord had not been on our Side – That is what we should be saying now.
When the enemies rose up against us – Enemies from the father’s side; enemies from the Mother’s side; some of us enemies from the In-laws side, enemies in the Place of work.
… If God has not been on our side, where shall we be?
C. If there has not been someone who according to Psalms 46: 1-3 called: “The Ever Present Help in the Time of Trouble”; where are we going to be now?
I. When we considered each time you travel along the roads and the fellow driving in the Opposite Direction is High on Drugs and he didn’t cross the Road to your side to come and crush you?
II. When you read Stories of People who are minding their own Business – Driving safely and then one Tanker or the other had an Accident and they got burnt to death.
You will ask yourself: If God had not been on my side, where will I be now?
D. Why should we Thank God?
I think the People on Mount Carmel must have said: You mean we survived?
If we survived the last three and half Years, we are likely to make it to the Future.
Why? – Because when there is Life, there is Hope.
Ecclesiastes 9:4 tells us that even a Living dog is better than a dead Lion.
If a Lion as Powerful as he is, is still alive then there is Hope that something God will still happen.
David said in Psalms 42:5 – He said: My Soul, why are you cast down? Hope in God because you will still Praise Him.
That I have survived thus far, there is Hope that my tomorrow will be alright!
E. And then; many atimes when we should be Thanking God for Preservation; we begin to think about the things that we don’t have instead of considering what we do have.
I mean Psalms 103: 1-5 – David is actually saying: Count your Blessings, name them one by one.
You are just Preserved – Consider every Good Things the Almighty God has made available to you!
And I want you to spend Quality Time today or as you read on the Label of DMC Thanking God!
I. You have eyes – Thank Him.
II. You can’t see but you can hear – Thank Him.
III. You are not where you think you should be – Thank Him; at least you are not in Prison.
IV. You are in Prison – Thank God that you are not dead and there is still Hope for you.
V. Oh, you are in the Hospital; the Doctors has lost Hope – The Doctors are not God, Thank God that you are still breathing.
VI. If People has written you off – Don’t worry yourself; they are not taking God into the Calculation. The God who can Preserve a Nation for three and half Years can do anything.
Now, that is one aspect because then there are so many things in this Story and I don’t want to spend too much time on Thanking Him even though that should take a whole Sermon on its own.
- But there is something interesting here again: It is only Elijah who heard the Sound of Abundance of Rain.
… The others didn’t hear anything – They didn’t hear anything until Elijah spoke.
Now, I don’t know about you: I would love to be hearing from God!
As a matter of fact, I told my children not too long ago about when I got Born Again – A very Young Christian.
Somebody took me to a Fellowship of Fellow Christians. I was a Lecturer then at the University of Lagos and they were Worshipping God, they were Praising God. I didn’t know most of the Songs they were singing but I was going along with them making a Joyful Noise.
… I was full of Joy anyway: The Joy of Salvation.
Then all of a sudden, I see by a Signal – Everything went quiet and then somebody began to Prophesy – Thus saith the Lord and he went on and on.
And I knocked the Fellow who was sitting next to me: When did God said that?
He said: Keep quiet, God is speaking.
I said: I’m not hearing!
That day, I cried to God – Next time you speak; I want to hear!
I give Him all the Glory and Honour that it wasn’t long after that I began to hear.
I Pray for everyone of you listening to me today or reading now on the Label of DMC: God will open your ears and you will begin to hear from God – Amen.
Because the Ability to hear from Him should be available to every Christians.
In John 10:27 – He said in His Words: My Sheep hears my Voice.
If you are Born Again, you are His Sheep, you should be hearing His Voice!
Even though He said in Revelation 2:7 – He said: He who has ears to hear, let him bear what the Spirit is saying.
As we will find out later on in our Studies; when God wants to speak, He speaks in “Small Still Voice”.
… Not everybody has the ability to hear that “Small Still Voice”.
But according to John 4: 23-24 – When you worship Him; He draws near; when He draws near, He can whisper and you will hear.
He said that He is looking for Worshippers.
It tells you another thing that you get from Thanksgiving – When you are Thanking Him, when you are Worshipping Him; He draws Near, when He is Near then even if He is speaking in “Small Still Voice”; you can hear.
I mean 2 Kings 3: 6-15 for example – When some Kings came to Elisha and they said that we want to hear what is going to happen to us in the future.
And he got angry because they were Idol Worshippers and then he repented because there was one of them who was Worshipping God.
For him to hear from God, he said: Bring me a Minstrel.
That is why in an Atmosphere of Worship, in an Atmosphere of Thanksgiving; it is not uncommon to hear: Daddy said that this is happening, this is going to happen.
And you know what? – Proverbs 20:12 says: The hearing Ear and the seeing Eyes; the Lord had made them all.
In other words: If you go to Him today and ask Him to open your ears – He is willing, it is within His Ability. He can decide whose ears to open so that you can begin to hear from God.
I Pray that you will be one of those People whose ears will be opened today – Amen.
Now, this is interesting because according to Amos 3: 7-8; the Bible says: God will not do a thing without revealing His Secrets to His Servants, the Prophets.
He will tell those who can bear from Him about what He is about to do.
And having an “Advanced Information” can be very, very beneficial.
For example: The Elders has a Saying: If a Lame Man hears that war is coming; if he is Wise, he can escape death.
Because he knows that he can’t run, he can’t move fast; he will begin to run to safety quickly.
I Pray for you one more time that from today onwards; you will begin to hear from God – Amen!
- But then there is still something else to learn from this Passage.
Elijah said: I have heard the Sound of Abundance of Rain.
The Sky was absolutely clear – No trace of Cloud.
That tells you one thing again: One of the Signs of Genuine Prophesy is that it comes almost “Unbelievable Difficult”.
… There was no Cloud.
I mean this is not a case of somebody getting up and saying during the Rainy Season in Nigeria: Thus say the Lord; it shall Rain tomorrow.
… We are in the Rainy Season?
But this Man of God at a time when there had been no Rain for three and half Years and the Sky is still as clear as Possible; he said: Abundant Rain is coming.
In Exodus 14: 1-28 – When the children of Israel were by the Red Sea and the Armies of Pharaoh were behind.
Humanly speaking, there were only two (2) Options: Slaughtered by the Armies of Pharaoh or taking back into Slavery.
And yet the Man of God said: Look at them very well – The enemies you have seen today, you will never see them again.
And the People there would have said: What are you talking about? Are you saying that we are going to drown? Because he said: Move Forward!
… Move to where?
In 2 Kings 4: 1-7 – If you study that Passage very well.
A Widow of one of the Son of the Prophet came to Elisha and say – I have nothing in the house; just a little bottle of Oil and Creditors has come, they want to sell my children.
The Man of God said: Okay, go and borrow Empty Vessels; borrow not a few.
Yes, what next? – Then shut the door on yourself and then begin to Pour out the oil from your little bottle into the Vessels and set aside those that were Full.
What are you talking about? – I told you that the bottle of oil is small; you are now talking about Vessels that are Full?
… But that is Prophesy; that is the Way of God!
I mean in 2 Kings 4: 8-17 – Elisha said to the Shunamite Woman: Nine (9) Months from now, you will have a son.
The Shunamite Woman said: Man of God, don’t deceive me, don’t waste my time, raising my Hope for Nothing.
… But then that is Divine Prophesy.
In 2 Kings 7: 1-end – At a time when Women were eating their children because of hunger; the Man of God said that in less than Twenty four (24) Hours; there will be so much food that Nobody will want to buy.
… It doesn’t make sense – That is Divine Prophesy; that is how you know the True ones!
And then the Big one is in Isaiah 7:14 – It said: God will give you a Sign; a Virgin shall conceive.
What are you talking about? – But that is Prophesy (Divine Prophesy).
I will give you one (1) or two (2) Examples quickly and then I will Prophesy into our lives and we will move on from there next.
- I was living in Mushin (A Low Earner Income Part of Lagos State Nigeria) in a Room – God bless my Beloveth Mushin.
Lord, Please build me a Boy’s Quarter – That was my Prayer.
My wife and children are coming to join me – Boys Quarter, that is all I need.
He said: Son, don’t ask me for a house, I have decided to build you a City.
Does that make sense? – The People I told laughed at me.
When they laughed at the Prophesy coming your way – Rejoice as that is evident that it is from God!
… Well today, the rest is History!
- We were in one of the Holy Ghost Services when God spoke that there is someone here – The Doctors said that you will never had a Child, now you are going to get a Set of Twins.
What are you talking about?
I mean this Woman knew that – They have told her: You do not have a Womb.
And then she became Pregnant, went to see the Doctors – The Doctors said that I don’t know how this could happened but there is a baby in your Womb.
The Woman said: No, No, No – My daddy said two (2) and not one (1).
Thank God for those who will believe God – The Bible says: The Just shall live by Faith!
She went back some couple of Months later; the Doctors said: Well, I can’t believe this but there are two (2) here.
And then the Day of Delivery came and the husband said: I don’t want to take risks; let this thing be by Caesarean Section Operations – I don’t want the baby dying during Labour.
DMC NOTES: A Caesarean Section Operations is a Surgical Procedure used to deliver a baby through incisions in the abdomen and uterus.
And then the Woman woke up and saw everybody looking at her as if she came from the Mars – She said what is happening! Where are my children?
They said that your children are okay – No Problem!
DMC NOTES: Mars is the fourth Planet from the Sun and the second-smallest Planet in the Solar System, being larger than only Mercury.
And the Doctors who Performed the Operations said: I have Performed thousands of Operations but this is the first time I’m seeing a Twin coming from No Womb.
Because after the Twins were born, the Husband said: Take away the Womb, I don’t want more children.
The Doctors said: I can’t find a Womb.
When God speaks, it doesn’t make sense because a Miracle doesn’t make sense and God does not deal with senses.
… The Bible says: The Just shall live by Faith!
Let me conclude by Prophesying based on the Word of God in Isaiah 3:10.
The Almighty God said: Say ye to the Righteous, it shall be well with him!
I. Everyone of you children of the Almighty God – Your tomorrow shall be alright – Amen!
II. It doesn’t matter how impossible that may seems – Your Future shall be Glorious (Amen).
III. You are going to be Greater than you can imagine – Amen.
IV. A day is coming when People will look at you and Pray that: Whatever God sees in you that makes somebody like you so Great; Father Please do the same for me – Amen!
… That is how Great you are going to become – Amen!
ALTAR CALL
But Prophecies are for the Righteous – Say ye to the Righteous …
So, if you are not a Child of God and you want God Himself to speak to your Future and turn everything around for Good; surrender your Life to Him now – It is when you are Born Again that you become the Righteousness of God in Christ.
… The Choice is yours!
Let Us Pray!
If you will love to surrender your Life to Jesus Christ now, so that your Future will be Glorious, so that one day you too will be able to say: Christ in me, the Hope of Glory!
Bow your head now – Cry to the Lord and say: Please, save my Soul, have Mercy on me Almighty God, make me one of yours so that my tomorrow may be alright.
Cry unto Him now – And Promise Him that you will serve Him for the rest of your Life.
You must make me one of Yours – Let Your Blood wipe away all my sins and I will be yours and yours forever.
Talk to Him for just a moment and then I will Pray with you.
Oh Thank You Father.

PRAYER FOR SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER
Ancient of Days once again I want to Thank You for Your Words.
On behalf of everyone of us Lord I’m saying Thank You for Preservation, Thank You for all You have done for us, Thank You because if You have not been on our side; what shall we be saying now.
Thank You Lord – Please accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.
My Father and my God; I’m also crying unto You that You will open our eyes so that we begin to hear from You.
And to those who are coming to You today, surrendering their lives; Please receive them.
Oh Lord and my Saviour; let Your Blood wash away their sins, write their names in the Book of Life, let them become one of your Sheep so that they too can begin to hear Your Voice.
And I Pray that they will never backslide again.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!

Again, I rejoice with those of you who has surrendered your Life to Jesus Christ today – I want to Promise you that from now on, I will be Praying for you if you will kindly send me your names, your Address and your Prayer Request.
