OPENING PRAYER
Our Father and our God, our King, our Lord, our Saviour, our Friend, the Lover of our Soul; we Worship You. Please, accept our Worship in Jesus Name.
We Thank You for all You have done for us in the Past, we Thank You for what You are going to do again today and we Thank You for what You will do in the Future. Please, accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.
And Lord, even as we gather together to Study Your Words, we Pray that through the Study of Your Words today, our Faith will grow and we will be able to move Mountains.
And Lord God Almighty, Your Name will be Glorified.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.

We are continuing our Series on: Going Higher and now we are moving to Part 50 – “GOING HIGHER – PART 50”.
Our Bible Text will be the same one we have been using but we will now read only Verse 8 – 1 Kings 19:8.
And he (That is Elijah) arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the Strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the Mount of God.
… Unto Horeb, the Mount of God!
The reason Elijah travelled, Fasting for forty Days and forty Nights was because he was going to keep an Appointment with God.
And so, we will be talking as briefly as Possible on: “KEEPING AN APPOINTMENT WITH GOD”.
Appointment with God can be in three (3) Broad Categories:
CATEGORY 1 – God Pays you a Visit.
And it is my Prayer today that the Almighty God will Pay everyone of you listening to me or reading now on the Label of DMC a Visit – Amen!
Now, we take Examples from the Scriptures of some People who has Appointment with God and it was God who came to visit.
A. Let us start with Moses.
The Story of the Divine Appointment with Moses started in Exodus 3:1 to Exoxus 4:20.
Moses was eighty Years (80) Old before that Appointment took Place. And that means one thing: Even those of you who think by now, you may be thinking that its already too late to have an Appointment with God, may God surprise you today – Amen.
Moses, already a “Forgotten Shepherd” at the backside of a desert but God Paid him a Visit – He woke up a ‘Forgotten Shepherd”, before that day was over; he had become a “National Leader”.
All his “Forgotten Dreams” were revived and reactivated because once he has dreamt that he will lead the children of Israel out of bondage. That was why he fought an Egyptian who was ill-treating an Hebrew and he killed him. But then he became a Fugitive for forty (40) Years.
Any Dream of Greatness that he had, had already vanished but God Paid him a Visit – God kept an Appointment with him and everything Changed.
I Pray for those of you who are listening to me or reading now on the Label of DMC; who has Dreams that you feel can never be achieved, God will visit to you today – Amen!
B. Another Example is found in Judges 6: 1-end.
The children of Israel were in serious trouble – They will Plant, their enemies will wait for the time of Harvest, then they will come and take away everything that they have been labouring for. They will bring their Carmel, bring all their animals to come and eat all what these People has been labouring to Produce.
And there was this Young Man called Gideon, who was hiding some of the Harvest from the enemies and God kept an Appointment with him.
He woke up a Youmg Man, living in “Troubled Times”, afraid, unsure of the Future and then God kept an Appointment with him and he ended up becoming a “National Leader”.
C. Another Example is in Mark 10: 46-52.
It was the Story of Bartimaeus – He was blind, he was begging for Money to eat, he was there by the roadside when God Paid him a Visit; God kept an Appointment with him.
I. I should tell you that no matter how Poor you are; you can receive a Visit from God.
And because of that Visit, Darkness Change to Light in the Life of Bartimaeus – Because the Visitor, the One who kept an Appointment with him is the One that the Bible said in John 1: 4-5 that in Him was Life and the Life was the Light of Men. And the Light shines in Darkness and the Darkness cannot overcome it.
I Pray for all of you who are Struggling with Forces of Darkness; you will get a Visit from God today – Amen!
II. He got a Visit from God and he never begged again – Poverty disappeared, because the One who visited him was the Source of all Blessings.
III. He got a Visit from God and he was never a Lonely again.
Hebrews 13:5; because the One who visited is the One that said that: I will never leave you, I will never forsake you.
IV. He got an Appointment with God and all enemies became Servant.
Because as he was crying to the One who had come to Pay him a Visit, who had come to keep an Appointment with him; everybody was asking him to shut up.
But because he was the one for whom the Lord came – Because if you read the Story very well, Jesus Christ came to Jericho and he was getting out of Jericho. He didn’t do anything in Jericho because He came to keep an Appointment with Someone outside the City.
The One who came to keep an Appointment with him was the One he was crying to and everybody asked him to shut up.
But because of that Appointment which was for him alone; the enemies became his Servants – The same People who are asking him to shut up became the Servants that said to him: Be of Good Cheers, the Lord is calling you. And they led him to Him.
V. Because of that Appointment, his enemies became his Footstool.
I’m Praying that Somebody will have an Appointment with God today or as you read now on the Label of DMC and your Darkness will Change to Light and Poverty will come to an End in your Life and you will never know loneliness again and even your enemies will become your Servant – Amen!
Do you know that because of this Appointment that we are talking about – If you are the one God is interested in, and by now you should now you should be married and you are not; because your Loneliness is about to end – Amen.
D. I give another Example in John 5: 2-9.
It tells the Story of a Man who has been sick for thirty eight (38) Years and he had a Divine Appointment.
He was just lying down there helplessly but God is the One who came to keep an Appointment with him. And you know what happened – The sickness ended, his failure ended, his defeat ended, his despair ended; because the One who was visiting according to Colossians 1:27 says: Christ in you, the Hope of Glory.
When God chooses to keep an Appointment with you, everything will Change for the better
CATERGIRY 2 – But then keeping a Divine Appointment might be that God will give you a Designated Place where He wants to meet you.
A. In the case that we read about in the Bible Text (1 Kings 19:8); the Designated Place for that Meeting with God as far as Elijah was concerned was “The Mount of Horeb”.
B. In Genesis 22: 1-18; God told Abraham – Take your son Isaac, who you love and go to this Particular Mountain; that is where we are going to keep an Appointment.
God may designate a Place where you will go to Pass a Test.
Because Abraham went to that Mountain and he Passed the Test.
And because Abraham got to that Mountain and Passed the Test, God made sure that right on that Mountain that his Blessungs become Irreversible because God swore on that Mountain – He said that I swear by Myself: In Blessings I will bless you and in Multiplication, I will multiply your seeds.
Hebrew 6: 13-14 says that when God had that Appointment with Abraham on that Mountain, because there was no one Higher than God, he swore by Himself. He made sure that the Blessings shall be Irreversible.
You see because there are occasions when God could bless you and then your Actions can cause that Blessings to be reversed.
1 Samuel 3:20 – God said to Eli: I’m the one who said that you and your father’s house will Stand before me forever. He said that for once, I change my Mind.
But as a result of that Appointment that Abraham kept with God on that Mountain, God said: No, No, No; your Blessings will be Irreversible.
And you know what – He even went further to say: I will multiply the Blessings on your seed.
You know that Deuteronomy 1:11 says that when you think that you are Great, then you don’t know the meaning of Multiplication; you don’t know how Generous God can be because He can Multiply you a “Thousand Times” more than you are – Amen.
And I’m joining you in saying Amen to that – Because I’m looking forward to the time when the Redemption Camp will become a “Thousand Times” bigger than it is now (Amen). And too in your Life, in your family, in your Ministry will become a “Thousand Times” more than you are – Amen!
CATEGORY 3 – You could keep an Appointment with God and it is you that will Fix that Appointment (You do the Fixing).
You know that there is a saying that if the Mountain won’t come to Mohammed; Mohammed can go to the Mountain.
A. In 2 Kings 4: 1-7; a Woman was Destitute – Creditors were coming to sell her sons and she fixed an Appointment with God.
She ran to the House of the Man of God and said that I must keep an Appointment with God today.
B. In 2 Kings 4: 8-37; a Woman lost her only son (A Miracle Son). She made up her Mind that I will keep an Appointment with God – She drove the child fast until she came to where the Man of God was.
… She kept an Appointment with God – The Appointment that she fixed herself.
C. In 2 Kings 5: 1-14; Naaman fixed an Appointment with God – Because Somebody told him that there is a God in Israel that can cure you of your Leprosy, that can remove your reproach. And he got up and came, kept that Appointment with God and he was made Whole.
D. In Mark 5: 25-34; there was a Woman who has been bleeding for twelve (12) Years. She has spent everything that she had and instead of getting better, she got worst.
When she heard that Jesus Christ was around, she fixed an Appointment. She didn’t consult with Jesus Christ before coming – She just decided that I’m going to keep an Appointment with God.
You know the rest of the Story – She kept that Appointment with God and everything Changed.
Now, why am I telling you all these?
No one ever returns from an Appointment with God Unchanged! Anyone who ever had an Appointment with God will return with a Testimony.
- Moses had an Appointment with that God fixed.
In Exodus 4:20; the Bible says that when Moses was leaving that Place of Appointment, he took the Rod of God in his hands – The rod of a Shepherd Boy had become the Rod of God.
And with that Rod, he led the whole Nation out of Captivity.
- In Mark 5: 2-20; there was tris Mad Man of Gadara.
He didn’t know anything about Jesus Christ but the moment he saw him; something within him even in his Madness told him – Hey, this is my Day of Appointment and it was God who Planned that Appointment.
You know what? – By the end of the Appointment, the Mad Man had become an Evangelist completely well.
- In 1 Samuel 16: 11-13; David was busy in the bush, God Planned an Appointment, sent a Prophet and they sent for David in the bush and they brought him.
He kept that Appointment with God and that Shepherd Boy became a King.
- Abraham and Isaac kept that Appointment. And by the time they were returning, they returned with an “Irreversible Blessings” and the son returned with a “Blessing of Multiplication”.
… Nobody keeps an Appointment with God and remains the same!
Why? – Psalms 16:11 tells us that in the Presence of God, there is the Fullness of Joy.
When you keep an Appointment with God, your Joy will become Full.
That is why Probably David said in Psalms 122:1 – I was glad when they say unto me; let us go to the House of God.
… Let us go and keep an Appointment with Him!
Is your Joy anywhere less than Full? – Come and keep an Appointment with God!
Understand that God could arrange an appointment but you too can arrange the Appointment.
Make up your Mind that you will keep an Appointment with God today.
I remind you of two (2) Stories now:
- The Story of one Woman who was sick and it got so bad that the Doctors called the family together that there is Nothing more anybody can do for your Mum as she is going to die. You can take her home if you want.
And the Woman says: Fine, take me to the Church. And they told her that there is no Service today in Church and the Pastors is not going to be there. The Woman said that who told you that I want to see the Pastor – Take me to the Church.
They took her to the Church. She says: Just take me close to one of the Pillars – She came to keep an Appointment with God.
As she touched the Pillar, she was made ‘Completely Whole’.
- I have told you the Story of a Man that a Prophet told him at the beginning of the Year that – Thus saith the Lord; this is your Last Year on Earth. You are going to die this Year, you can’t see New Year.
He said: Is that so? – The Prophet said: Yes. Is there anything that I can do not to die this Year? – The Prophet said: Nothing.
He said that: Okay, could you help me tell God to let me see December 31st? Afterall, that is still Part of this Year.
The Prophet said: Why not? I can Pray that Prayer.
December 31st came, very early in the Morning the Man ran to the Church at Ebute Metta (RCCG, National Headquarters Parish). He didn’t take a bus, if he saw anybody coming, he will dodge because he doesn’t want that Fellow to be the one who will kill him.
Finally, he got to the Church – As soon as he gets into the Church he said: The death that will come and kill me here, I will wait and see.
… He kept an Appointment with God and he lived for several Years later.
ALTAR CALL
Matthew 11: 28-30; Jesus Christ is saying to those of you who are out there – Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy ladened and I will give you rest.
Come and keep an Appointment with Me and everything will Change.
Shall we bow our heads in Prayers?
So, all of you who will accept this Invitation, who will come and keep an Appointment with Jesus Christ for the Salvation of your Soul; Pray to Him now to P,lease save your Soul, tell him you accept His Invitation, you will keep an Appointment with Him forever.
PRAYER OF SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER
So, my Father and my God; I Thank You for Your Words and I Thank You for all those who are willing to receive You as their Lord and Saviour, willing to keep an Appointment with You today.
Please, receive them, save their Souls, wash them clean with Your Blood and let them become a Member of the Family of God.
And as many of us – Those of us who has been Born Again before and those who are just giving their lives to You now – As many of us who will constantly keep an Appointment with You; I Pray Lord God Almighty that things will get better and better for us all.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!
Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!
And those of you who has just given your Life to Jesus Christ, Congratulations. That is one Appointment that you have kept with the Lord. You need to keep more Appointments by coming regularly to the Church of God to learn at the feet of Jesus Christ.
Go to the nearest Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) near to you and tell the Pastor there that I sent you.
And the Lord will bless you and I will be hearing Good News from you very soon in Jesus Mighty Name – Amen!
