OPENING PRAYER
Father Almighty, You are Worthy to be Praised – You are Worthy of our Honour, of our Adoration, You are Worthy of our Worship because there is no one who loves as Passionately as You love us. We give You all the Glory, we give You all the Honour – Please, accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.
As we continue with our Study Lord, we Pray that the Power in Your Word will heal us Body, Soul and Spirit and all our Needs will be met.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!
Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!
We continue with our Study – “GOING HIGHER”; we are now going to Part 54.
Our Bible Text will remain in 1 Kings 19: 13-14.
- And it was so, when Elijah heard it that he wrapped his face in his Mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a Voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
- And he said, I have been very Jealous for the LORD God of Hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy Covenant, thrown down thine Altars, and slain thy Prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my Life, to take it away.
Remember that I say that when a Teacher asks a Question – It is not that he doesn’t know the answer, but he wants to find out from the Student how much does he knows!
And here we find Elijah showing how little he knows – He was reporting Israel to God and said that Israel committed three (3) grievous sins:
- They forsook God’s Covenant.
I. He was trying to say to God according to Deuteronomy 7:9 – You are a Covenant Keeping God.
II. According to Genesis 17:9 – You told our father Abraham that we are expected to keep our Covenant with You.
… But Israel, they have forsaken your Covenant.
- God, they have thrown down your Altars.
And I know that in Leviticus 6:13 – You said that the Fire must never go out on Your Altar.
… The Fire must keep on burning!
Lord, not only has the Fire gone out, they have even thrown down the Altar.
- Lord, they slew Your Prophets with a Sword.
And I know that it is written in Psalms 105: 14-15 – Touch not my Anoinred, do my Prophet no harm.
… Not only have they touched Your Anoinred, they have done a lot of slaying with the Sword!
He was reporting Israel to God!
Many atimes, as you are Going Higher in the Lord, you might be tempted to report God’s People or the Churches no longer use to be what it used to be.
We are not talking about you reporting your Nation now, we are talking about you reporting the Church of God to God!
You are talking to a Man about his wife; don’t you think that you should be careful? Because the Church of God is the Bride of Christ.
I. Oh, the Church is no longer used to be what it is to be.
II. Oh, in the Olden days, the Church used to Pray but now they are bringing Jokers to the Church to come and entertain them.
III. Oh, the Church used to Fast, now they would rather eat.
IV. Oh, the Church used to be committed, now they only want what they can get from God.
We are talking to those of you who are Going Higher – Watch it!
- Because in Romans 14:4; the Bible says – Hey, you don’t Judge a Man’s Servant. Let the Master do his own Judging.
As you go Higher in the Spirit, learn not to rush to Conclusions about anything – Not even in the Church alone.
James 1:19 says: Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- Watch it because as you are Going Higher, as your Anointing is Increasing, as you are becoming more Powerful in the Lord; Watch your Actions, Watch your words.
Remember Luke 12:48 says: To whom much is given, much will be required.
The Higher you go Spiritually, the more careful you must be!
- Matthew 7: 1-2 says: Judge Not, so that you will not be Judged.
Matthew 7: 3-5 says: Hey, before you begin to Judge, before you begin to think of the mote in the eye of your brother; why don’t you check? There might be a log in your own eyes.
The African Elders has a saying: You can see the back of the head of another Person; Somebody else is watching the back of your own head. You might be more guilty than the ones you are accussing. Or it might be your responsibility for even the errors that you are Pointing out in the People you are accusing!
Remember in 2 Samuel 12: 1-14 – God sent a Prophet to King David to go and confront him.
And in those days, Kings were so Powerful – You are a Prophet and you come in and you don’t behave yourself, the King can cut off your head.
So, the Prophet decided to use Wisdom and told David a Story of a Man who has many Sheep and another Man who has one little Lamb and the little Lamb is very close to him that he even sleep on the same bed with the little Lamb.
And then the rich Man with many Sheep had a Visitor and wanted to entertain the Visitor and he went and use his Position to take the little Lamb from that Man to kill it for entertainment.
David said: What do you say? That Man is dead – In my Kingdom, that Fellow is dead.
And the Prophet said: Thou art the Man sir. You took one of the wife of your Royal Servant, you had everything, this Man had only one wife and he is loyal to you and you know what you did.
Many atimes Brother and Sister, you don’t know all the Story before you begin to Judge!
Because as you begin to grow in the Lord, it will soon become clear – People will know that you are Anointed, People will know that you are Close to God; and so they will bring cases to you!
When the Possecutors have finished speaking, why don’t you listen to the Defense Counsel?
Because by the time the Possecutors had finished, you will want to get that Fellow and cut off his head – Listen to what he has to say.
1 Kings 19:18; God said to Elijah – Boy, Oh boy; you failed the Test. You are accusing the whole of Israel but I still have seven thousand (7,000) who has not bowed down to any Idol.
You are talking to me now as if you are the only Man left – There are at least seven thousand (7,000) Extra.
… You don’t know all the Story Brother/Sister.
- You may not even know the Correct Story – Watch it!
1 Samuel 1: 9-20 – Can you believed it? Eli thought Hannah was drunk.
Here was a Woman crying out in agony to God, Pouring out her heart to the Almighty God – The High Priest, Big General Overseer, felt that the Person who was Prayimg so hard; that only the lips are moving, the Voice wasn’t heard. She was Praying at a Pitch higher than what ordinary ear could hear and “Oga” (High Priest) thought that she was drunk.
How wrong can you be? – Watch it!
In 1 Samuel 16: 1-13 – The Great Prophet Samuel was wrong seven (7) times in one day because he jumped to Conclusions.
He was sent to go and anoint a King in the house of Jesse and Jesse brought forth his seven (7) sons. And the first one was tall, big, handsome. Samuel said: Hey, the God’s Anointed is before me. But God said: No sir!
Do you know why he talked so?
Because the first King he anointed in 1 Kings 10: 20-24 – King Saul was taller than everybody else. So, the Prophet jumped to the Conclusion – The King must always be tall (Taller than everyone else).
Who told you that God will repeat the same thing twice?
Oh, there are some People who will say – Well in 2 Kings 1: 1-18; that since Elijah was hairy, anointing must have to do with Plenty of hair.
Until you read 2 Kings 2: 23-24 – And you find out that the Person with the Double Portion of Anointing was “Bald-Headed”.
There was a Man who came to Ebute Metta (National Headquarters Parish of RCCG) Years ago and said he wanted to see the General Overseer and they said go right in, he is there.
He came in, he saw me and said I want to see the General Overseer. I said how can I help you? He repeated that I want to see the General Overseer, I said I’m the General Overseer and he said you are deceiving me.
He came out of my Office very angrily. Fortunately, he met Someone else coming to see me and when he followed that Person in, he was fuming.
And I came out with the other Fellow. And he said: Is that the Fellow? – Yes! Where is his beard?
… You can be wrong!
- In the things of God, tread softly because you are going to be Great.
If you have stayed with me on “Going Higher” this long, there is no doubt about it – That all these efforts of mine won’t be in vain, all your learning won’t be in vain. God is going to take you Higher, your Anointing is going to Increase. But in things of God, tread softly.
In Luke 4: 25-26 – The Bible tells us that there were many Widows in the time of Elijah; Elijah was sent to one (The Widow of Zarepheth).
If you are not careful, you will accuse God – How come that there were many Widows and you rescued only one?
The Bible didn’t tell us the details but many Widows died of hunger during that Great Period of “No Rain”.
But God knows the End from the beginning – 1 Kings 17: 8-16, God knows which of all these Widows will put Him first.
I. Which of all these Widows will be Willing to sacrifice her Life and the Life of her son just to Please God.
II. God knows which one will say: Yes, I have only one Meal left for me and my son to eat and die. We are on the brink of death anyway and God wants it – Fine, let God have it. God knows it!
You know in Acts 11: 1-18; after Peter came from the house of Cornelius, the Great Apostles gathered together, called him to a Meeting and challenged him – ‘What were you doing in the house of a Gentile? We heard that you went there?’
They didn’t tell us all that they said but they Probably told him that ‘You went to the house of a Gentile because he was rich.’.
Peter had to say that: The Spirit bade me go.” – I heard His Whisper. I was reluctant.
He told them what happened in Acts 10: 1-end. I didn’t want to go but I had to obey the Spirit.
Whether you believed it or not, I got quite a lot of queries recently from well-meaning Christians – ‘Daddy GO Sir, we learnt that you went to a White Garment Church to go and dedicate a Church. You of all people?
Those who will listen – I told them that the Spirit bade me to go and I was just obeying the Spirit.

Years ago, I think in 1982 or so, I was invited to one little White-Garment Church – It wasn’t a big one.
I went because they said they have heard about me and I should come and Preach.
I got to the door and they asked me to remove my shoes, I did, because the Spirit bade me go.
Because there was a Man in the Church – An Engineer, that God knew He was going to need in the building of a Campground that we had not even located at the time.
I went, I Preached, he (the Engineer) gave his Life to Jesus Christ. He came to The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and he became the Engineer who started the work of the Camp.
He is Lemoshe – He was the Second-In-Command to the Baba Adura (Spiritual Head of the White Garment Church).
I went because God said, ‘Go.’ In the things of God, don’t jump to Conclusion, tread carefully.

Can you imagine the reaction of People to what happened in Luke 1: 26-38 – When all of a sudden, Mary became Pregnant?
Hey Mary! With all the Trainings that we gave you in the house? We thought that you are a Virtuous Girl. Hey, what happened?
And she said: An Angel came to me! – Hey, Angel?
Matthew 11: 18-25 made it clear that the husband-to-be didn’t believed her. But because he loved her and didn’t want to disgrace her; he said that I will put her away quietly.
He needed an Angel to visit him and tell him that this is the correct Story.
Now, because some of you by the Special Grace of God, you are Going Higher; God is going to put you in Charge of His People sooner or later.
- Complaining about God’s People can lead to very serious Problems – Don’t forget that they are His People.
He said that: I will build my Church – It is His Church, not yours.
- If you are not careful, if you see what you may misunderstood about the Congregation; you may begin to query your Calling!
Numbers 11: 10-14 – When the children of Israel were disturbing Moses, he got to a Stage when he said: Lord, what is going on? Am I their Parents? Why are all these happening?
- And if you are not careful, you might make an “Ungodly Request”.
Moses said in Numbers 11:15 – He said: “GOD KILL ME!”
- If you are not careful, it can lead to reduction in Anointing.
Numbers 11: 16-17 – God said: Alright, Moses you said that the Load is too heavy. No Problem, gather to me seventy (70) Elders and I will take your Spirit and I will give to the seventy (70) Elders.
I will gladly Spend and be Spent for You! Even though the more I love You, the less I am loved.
So, if you are Pastoring a Church or you are in Charge of a House Fellowship Center and you look at all the People and you see the way that they are reacting to you – Hey, Pay the Price!
I will tell you a Story and then I will close – You have heard it before.
I have been Fasting and Praying for days unending – Continuous Fasting.
And I was sitting here in the Campground in those early days – My Offuce was one little Wooden Office, near the Expressway.
And in the Morning, I have Prayed All Night, I was tired and for one reason or the other; I was just Low in Spirit.
And I just said to myself – Why am I killing myself? The People I’m Praying for don’t care anyway. All they wanted is: Pray for me. They don’t consider or care for you.
And I dosed off, with my head on the Table and I fell asleep.
When I woke up, there was a Young Girl standing before me, carrying a cake in her hand all the way from Ikoyi (A City in Lagos State Nigeria).
And she said: Sir, I don’t know whether it is God I heard or not; but I have never heard Him before. But the Voice I heard says: I should take this cake to you at the Campground. I don’t think that the devil will ask me to take a cake to a Pastor.
I took the cake from her. I Prayed for her and she left.
And I heard God say loud and clear: I thought you said Nobody cares?
I am not a cake Man but I ate every bits of that cake with Joy.
As you “Go Higher” in the things of God tread softly!
Now, those of us who has not even started the Journey at all; who has not even given our Life to Jesus Christ; we say that if it is this tough then why are you asking me to come in?
1 Peter 4:18 says: If the Righteous be scarcely saved, where will the Ungodly appear?
Or you can say: If it is this tough – Those of you already a Christian will say: I don’t want ti “Go Higher”.
It is not Good to be at the bottom.
My Prayer is that you will be the Head, and not the Tail – Amen!
ALTAR CALL
So, if you have not yet given your Life to Jesus Christ, you are not even yet at the bottom. You need to come in to start and then you can begin to grow in the Lord.
So, if you want to give your Life to Jesus Christ, Please bow your head.
And say: Lord, save my Soul. I want to taste You Lord, I too want to be High in the Lord. But in the meantime, I want to start with You – Save my Soul!
Bow your Head, Pray that Prayer and I will Pray for you now. And God will save your Soul.
PRAYER FOR SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER
Oh, Thank You Father. I give You all Glory and Honour for Your Word.
I Thank You for releasing the Truth to us because You said when we know the Truth, the Truth shall make us Free.
Those who are coming to You now, asking You to save their Souls; Father Please receive them, forgive their sins, save their Souls, wash them clean with Your Blood, give them a Brand New Beginning – Let them begin the Journey to the Top.
And Lord God Almighty, let them serve You till the Very End.
And all Your Children who are ready to keep Going Higher, Please Lord whatever Price we have to Pay, give us the Grace to Pay the Price.
Thank You my Father and my God.
