THE STORY AND THE MAKING OF THE MAGNIFICENT TRINITY TOWER OF THE RCCG CITY OF DAVID AND THE CURRENT STATUS AND DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTIONS.
I am here to talk a bit about the Trinity Towers – This Magnificent Building that you are in.
There is an Ancient Chinese Proverbs that says, “A journey of a thousand Miles starts with a Single Step.”
For Trinity Towers, that step started on the 1st Day of January, 2009, when Pastor ID audaciously declared that we should no longer owe any bank for this Land.
We needed to raise a hundred and twenty-one Million Naira (#121,000,000) that Day – At a time when a hundred and twenty-one Million Naira (#121,000,000) looked and felt like a hundred and twenty-one Billion Naira (#121,000,000,000)..
It seemed impossible at the time to achieve.
But Proverbs 24:10 says: If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy Strength is small.
To give us courage for what was to come, God ensured that within four (4) Months – By the 14th of April 2009, we had Paid our debts in Full.
Since that day till today, this Church has Pledged #12.9 Billion and has redeemed #12.4 Billion to the Glory of God.
During all this time, God has never shown us that it is impossible to raise money – Over and over and over again, He has surprised us with the ability to Complete this Project.
Just this January (January 2023), a Month when money is usually hard to come by; inspite of the CBN “Cash Crunch” – Inspite of all that, God has Showed Himself Faithful, and we were able to raise a record six hundred and thirty one Million Naira (#631,000,000) in January 2023.
Our God is the Creator, and whatever He does, He does it in Unity with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; and with us (men) His Creation.
And He does it Excellently well.
In Genesis 1:26, the Bible says: And God said, Let us make man in our Image, after our Likeness: and let them have Dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the Earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the Earth.
The beauty about being created in God’s Image and Likeness is that, the ability to do Extraordinarily Creative and amazing things lie within each of us.
The Trinity Towers is a Testament of the God-Man in us!
As I stand in this Beautiful-Yet-Unfinished Arena, I am not Particularly Mindful of the Sacrifices that we have all made, Financially and Otherwise.
But I am rather reminded about: “Why the Project was embarked on in the first Place.”
I can see in my Mind, a “Double Amputee” I met at a Rally in Gokana (DMC NOTES: Gokana is a Local Government Area in Rivers State, with her Headquarters in a City called Kpor); who rather than beg for money, requested for a Platform to sing – With the Hope that Someone would discovered him as he sang and enable him escape Poverty.
I can imagine (and you would imagine) how many of such People this Auditorium would help over the years to Showcase their Talents, and escape Poverty in the Months to come.
I can see a Young girl that I met in an Island called Idama, who could not have been a day over twenty four (24) years old. Yet she already had six (6) children – Each one from a different man.
… Six (6) children already, and she was not a day over twenty four (24) years Old.
Her Life was truncated because somewhere along her teens: 12, 13, 14; she had not been Introduced to the kind of work that we do in the City of David.
The Trinity Towers will ensure that many such Teenage Pregnancies would be Prevented because of the Mission that will go on here.
DMC NOTES: Idama is an island located in the mangrove forest of the oil rich Niger Delta area of Nigeria. It is part of the Akuku-Toru local government area of Rivers. Numerous settlements populate the Idama territory, which combine with the Idama clan to form the Idama Kingdom.
My Pastors, my Friends, Visitors and Guests; I can see myself Standing waist-deep in the floods that devastated many of our States recently.
And there was a woman in the IDP Camp – She had three (3) children. There was a Nurse there who was taking care of over a thousand People – Just one Nurse, no Medical Doctor.
And when I got there, she looked at me and I was asking about the People. She said that there was this woman, the baby will die that Night!
When I asked what the Problem was, she said, the woman did not have fifty Naira (#50) – First of all, that will take her to the nearest Hospital, which was in Yenegoa (DMC NOTE: Yenagoa is the Capital City of Bayelsa State). And she did not have five hundred Naira (#500) to pay for the Card that will admit her into the Hospital.
That baby and her Younger Sister would have died within the Night. We Thank God that we intervened and she was saved.
But that again, is why we are here! – We intervened in things like this – That the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has done over and over and over again!
When I look at the beautifully dressed women and handsome men in the Sanctuary, I am reminded again of a couple of women that I met at an Island called Peterside in Rivers State Nigeria – just across the waterways from Bonny.
These women, when the tide is Low, cannot get to a Hospital. And because they cannot get to a Hospital, when they are Pregnant; to deliver they are forced to deliver at home.
I watched women who were crying because they had lost their relatives, or because they could not afford to cross nor have a Hospital nearby.
DMC NOTES: Peterside is a Village in Okrika, Rivers State. Peterside is situated nearby to the villages Fuakpa and Eyamba Town. Bonny Island is situated at the Southern edge of Rivers State in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria. It is near Port Harcourt.
Trinity Towers had been at the forefront of Christian Social Responsibility (CSR); of which this Church has built Hospitals, donated Kidney Centers for Dialysis, Donated Cancer Centers – All because of Projects like these.
My People, I’m Painfully reminded of an old woman – In fact, there were a Couple of them that I met in a Town in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.
They were Struggling with Hunger; and Poverty, was Stenched, because their cassava farms, just before they harvest them, some Young men would come and harvest them, steal all their crops. And they would be left in “Abject Poverty” because the Youths were hungry and empty.
DMC NOTES: Tai Local Government Area is an Oil-Rich local Government Area in Rivers State Nigeria and as well a Part of Oyigbo/Tai/Eleme/Okrika Constituency of Nigerian Senate. This Local Government plays a vital role in the Socio-Economy Polity of the State, basically the Council Area.
Trinity Towers is why we are here – And in this Building, it is beyond Glass and Steel. It’s a Testimony-filled Experience that is captured in “The Zeal of the Lord – Trinity Towers Volume 3.”
It is an “Extraordinary Building” that has been built by “Ordinary People” who have had “Extraordinary Testimonies” to Share.
1 Chronicles 22:5 says: And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding Magnifical, of fame and of Glory throughout all Countries: I will therefore now make Preparation for it. So David Prepared abundantly before his death.
Just as Solomon too was Young and Inexperienced, so are we – And so have we stood here today; at the end finished Strong in a Building that is “Exceedingly Magnificent”, Famous and will be Glorious throughout all the Country.
… We must finish Strongly – Amen!
So, the task today is to celebrate God’s Goodness by using “Ordinary Men and Women” to finish what is left.
Today we look to Heaven, to touch our Hearts, as we target about four Billion Dollars now (5 Million Dollars) to close this Chapter of Glory.
Some of the Key Items, of which any one of you here or reading now on the Label of DMC can take Wholly or we can take Collectively are:
- ACOUSTIC: We still need a hundred Million Naira to finish and Perfect the Acoustic in this Hall.
- SOUND SYSTEM: We need four hundred and ninety Million Naira (about 650,000 Dollars) to finish it.
- We need three hundred and forty seven Million Naira for the “Power Buss Bar” that will carry this entire Building of the Trinity Towers.
- We need Chairs in the Hall – Two Thousand (2,000) Chairs are left. We bought about two thousand five (2,500) Chairs. Three Million Naira to finish that too.
- Vestry Lounges: about a hundred and ten Million Naira to finish.
- Tower Access Control: Ninety one Million Naira.
- Perimeter Access Control: another ninety two Million Naira.
- HVAC Installation for all the Air-conditioners -Sixty five Million Naira.
We have a Hall of Fame that will be hung on the Walls as you are going out.
