OPENING PRAYER
Our Father and our God, we give You all the Glory, all the Honour, all the Adoration, all the shouts of Hallelujah because You reigns.
You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords; You are the One in Absolute Control of every situations at every time.
Thank You that thus far You have helped us – May Your Name Forever be Glorified.
Thank You for yet another Day on this Side of Eternity – We Worship You, we Adore You and today we look up unto You Lord for even Greater Blessings than ever before.
Please Lord, bless all of us, let it be well with all of us, help us today like never before and at the end of everything, let Your Name be Glorified.

Well, let’s greet ourselves and Prophesy to Somebody to your Right and Left – The Almighty God will bless you Mightily (Amen).
And then you may Please be seated.
As we continue today with Part 23 of our Series on: For Whom The Heavens Open – Using Joshua as a Case Study.
And today, we are moving on to Joshua 6: 3-5.
The reason we read our Bible Text up to Verse 5 even though we want to focus on Verse 3 is that the Big Day is going to be the 7th Day but before the 7th Day, there is a Routine to be followed everyday for 6 Days.
Joshua 6:3-5:
- And ye shall compass the City, all ye men of war, and go round about the City once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
- And seven Priests shall bear before the ark seven Trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the City seven times, and the Priests shall blow with the Trumpets.
- And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the Trumpet, all the People shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the City shall fall down flat, and the People shall ascend up every man straight before him.
We have already learnt in the Previous Series (Parts 21 and 22) that – The Almighty God says that Joshua should “See”:
- That He has given into his hands Jericho because Jericho belongs to God and so He can give it out.
- That He has given him the King thereof because God is the Maker of Kings.
- And He has given the Mighty Men of Valour to Joshua.
We had learnt that even though the Men were Mighty, they are still Men.
And then we spoke on the word “See” – And that talks about the Power of Vision.
That God could have said “Hear” Joshua; but instead He said “See”.
But today, we want to look at the fact that God said they are to go round about the City once a Day for 6 Days!
Many of us thought that in a situation like this, the focus should be on the 7th Day – Yeah, the 7th Day is important and we will talk about the 7th Day.
But everyday is important to God – You don’t get to 7 without Passing through 1,2,3,4,5 and 6.
Psalms 90:12 says: Teach us to Number our Days – Everyday is important to God. And everything that may appeared to you to be Routine, they mattered to God.
Isaiah 28:10 will support the Statement that the Journey of a thousand Kilometres begins with a Step.
Isaiah 28:10 tells us that everything must be done one after the other – Precept upon Precept; Line upon Line, here a little and there a little.
A Man survives by eating a Meal at a time – You don’t survive on Feast.
Feast comes on occasions- We have Christmas Day, New Year Day, Birthday; where you Celebrate and have a Feast.
But Nobody survives on a Feast but you survive on Daily Bread!
And even when you want to eat that your Daily Bread, you don’t swallow everything at one time – You take a morsel at a time.
And with every morsels, you have to chew and chew and chew.
So, what you considered as Routine is very, very Important to God!
In Genesis 17:1; God said to Abraham – I am the Lord God Almighty, walk before me.
He didn’t say “Jump before me”; He didn’t say do a very Long Jump (Hop, Step and Jump) – No, walk; one Step after another.
So, we want to spend few Minutes discussing what should be “The Routine of a Daily Walk with God” or what should be “The Daily Routine of a Christian Life” because it is Daily walking with God that will actually determine whether you make it Home or not!
A Day is divided into Segments – Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night-Time!
You grow Day by Day and so what you do Day by Day determines the Quality of your Christian Life!
- What do you do every Morning?
I. A True Christian should wake up early in the Morning Thanking God and Praying.
Psalms 57: 7-8; David said that I will sing and Praise God early in the Morning.
When a True Christian wakes up in the Morning, he should begin the Day with Songs of Praise to the Most High God – Thanking Him that I’m alive again; that I survived to see another Day.
Lamentation 3: 22-23 says that it is of the Mercy of the Lord that we are not Consumed.
These Mercies are renewed everyday.
So, when you wake up in the Morning, the first thing that you should do is to Praise God for His Mercies because not every People who slept yesterday will be awake today.
You wake up this Morning:
- You open your eyes and you can still see.
- You open your mouth, and you can still speak.
- Your ears are still hearing.
- You can move your Hands and Legs.
Oh, you should shout Hallelujah – Thank God that I made it to another Day.
In Mark 1:35; the Bible tells us that very early in the Morning, a Great while before the Day; Jesus Christ went out to a Solitary Place.
I am sure that He went there to Pray, He went there to Commune with His Father and to Praise Him.
II. The Next Thing you should do in the Morning is to take your “Bath”.
Psalms 119:9 says: Wherewithal shall a Young Man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy Word.
How do you take your bath?
After you Praise and Pray to Him; Study the Bible – That is how you make yourself Clean!
III. And then the next thing of course is to “Dress Up”.
And 1 Peter 5:5 says that you are to be Clothed with Humility.
Every Morning when you wake up; remind yourself that I must remain Humble! – Whatever situation that occurs today; I must remain Humble.
IV. And then of course if you are not Fasting, the Next Tgung you do is to “Eat”.
And according to Jeremiah 15:16; it says that I have found Your Words and I have eaten them.
Early in the Morning, you must eat the Word of God!
Matthew 4: 3-4; when the devil came to tempt the Lord Jesus Christ; the Lord told him – Man shall not live by Bread alone but by every words that Proceed from the mouth of God.
So, you see that your Morning is loaded with the Word:
- It is the Word that will Cleanse You.
- It is the Word that will remind you that you are to be Clothed with Humility.
- It is the Word that should even be your “Early Morning Food”.
V. And then of course, you go to work.
And 2 Thessalonians 3:10; the Bible made it clear – He who will not work should not eat.
What if I have no work? – Create One!
I remembered telling you the Story of one of my Fellow who said that I have Qualifications but I can’t get a job. But he says that I am a Good Cook.
And so, he got some Money to get some beans and oil and then located one little corner and began to roast “Akara” (DMC NOTES: “Akara” is called “Bean Cakes”).
And you know Lagos People – When they saw this, they began to stop.
It wasn’t long before the Man who started roasting beans bought a Motorcycle. And it wasn’t long that he got the second Motorcycle and then become an Employer of Labour.
And Proverbs 22:29 says: Seeth a Man diligent in his Business, that is the one who will stand before Kings.
- What about Noon-Time or Afternoon?
I. In the afternoon, you keep on Meditating on the Word of God because you want to be Blessed.
Psalms 1: 1-3 tells us that if you want to be blleessed; you must Meditate on the Word of God Day and Night.
II. And there is something that I want to share with you as a Child of God – In the Afternoon, expect Divine Visitations.
If you read Acts 10: 1-23; the Bible tells that Cornelius had a Divine Visitation at 3pm in the Afternoon.
That is when God asked him to send for Peter to come and show him the way to Salvation.
And if you check very well, you will find out that the following Day, Peter had a Divine Visitation at 12 Noon.
Meaning what? In the afternoon, while you are at work or wherever you may be; Pay attention to People who cross your Path!
There are no “Accidendal Meetings” – God knows what He is doing. The Fellow you meet today might turn round to be of Tremendous Help to you tomorrow!
I can clearly remembered Somebody that I met on the Sport Field as a Game Master of a Grammar School; who later on become very Instrumental in my Pursuit of my Postgraduate Studies.
Everybody that you meet that you thought is an “Accidental Meeting” could be Somebody God has lined up for your Future.
That is why in the afternoon, be busy with your Father’s Business!
In Luke 2: 42-49; it is the Story of the Lord Jesus Christ – When His Parents couldn’t find Him and He said, why are you looking for me? Mustn’t I be about my Father’s Business?
III. Never forget as a Christian that the work you are doing to earn a Salary is your “Extra Job” – Your Original job is to occupy till the Lord comes!
You are to keep on using every Opportunities to Witness – You never can tell who you will Witness to today and what that Person will turn round to become a Help in your Life.
You must have Probably heard the Testimony of a Sister – An Accountant. Who went to attend a Meeting of Accountants and she Witnessed to a Brother.
The Brother gave his Life to Jesus Christ and unknown to her, that is the Brother God had Prepared for her to Marry.
Today, I know that their Marriage is one of the most Successful ones in The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
You never can tell who you are going to meet in the Afternoon – Be busy!
- And then come the Evening!
The Evening according to Psalms 141:2; it is the time that you offer Sacrifices to God!
David said: Let my Prayer comes before thee as an Incense; the lifting up of my hand as an Evening Sacrifice.
That is why you find that True Children of God; when they finished from their Places of work, they go straight to the House of God.
Oh, today it is Digging Deep; tomorrow it is Faith Clinic, next time it is Sunday School Preparatory Class. And when they are not doing that, they are having House Fellowship Meeting.
Every Evening! Some People have complained that we always have something to do about God.
The Evening Time is meant for you to Worship God and Sacrificing to Him.
- This brings us to the Night-Time.
I. Normally, the Night-Time is when work ceases according to John 9:4 – Jesus Christ said that I must work the work of Him that sent me while it is Day, the Night comes when no Man can work.
So at Night, working ceases. Why? It is time to Sleep and Rest!
Psalms 127:2 says: He gives His Beloveth Sleep.
II. You know what? The Night-Time is also the Time for Dreams.
Some of the Dreams are just as a result of the work you have done during the Day according to Ecclesiastes 5:3 – Multitude of Business can Produce Dreams.
And some of the things that you met during the Day that are not completely cleared and you have some things to worry about; when you go to bed, God will come to you in your Dreams and show you the way out!
Because many Dreams could be Revelations from God!
I mean Genesis 41: 1-end – God showed Pharaoh the things that He was about to do in the Dream.
And when you are talking about Joseph; you know that he got his Dreams – Dream 1 and Dream 2.
You can only Dream when you are Sleeping!
III. But also, the Night-Time is the Time to Medidate on God Himself – Not just His Words now but on God Himself.
Psalms 63:6; David said: On my bed, I just begin to think of You.
While all the works has ceased now – God, You are so Good to me. Look at what Yiu have done to me again today? Look at how far You have helped me?
… That’s the Night-Time – No Distractions, no Phone Calls. You can now spend enough Time with God as you are lying on your bed to think of the One who is seeing you through to yet another Day.
According to Psalms 130:6 – David said my Soul waits for the Lord in the Night-Time much more than those looking for the Morning to come.
It is as if he is saying – I don’t even want the Day to come too soon; so that I can spend Time Medidating on the Word of God.
IV. But the most important thing is that at the Night-Time, as you are going to bed; remember that God could arrive before tomorrow Morning.
Because in Luke 17:34; the Bible says that when the Lord shall return, there will be two in Bed, one shall be taken and the other shall be left.
Those who knows me, they will tell you that every time we have our Night Devotion before we go to bed; my Last Prayer every Night after I got Born Again is: Lord, if You Return tomorrow, Please don’t leave me behind.
That is why we should go to bed Spotless because according to Ephesians 5:27 – It says that He is coming back for a Bride without Spot, without wrinkle.
What do we mean by Spotless?
Don’t let anything go with you to bed that the Lord did not Approve it.
Ephesians 4:26 says: Don’t let the Sun goes down on your Anger.
Which is why every Christian Couples must settle every quarrels before they go to bed everyday!
Spend every Day as very Precious to God – It may be to you a Routine but to God, that is what makes all the difference!
ALTAR CALL
And of course, those of you who has not given your Life to Jesus Christ – I mean you spend your Life as you like but just come to Him.
I have just told you how to spend a Good Day – Day after Day, after Day; from Morning till Night, all around the Word of God.
So, if you want that kind of Life – That will make you a Success all the way through; bow your Head there and cry to God for Salvation even as I Pray for you right now!
PRAYER FOR SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER
My Father and my God, once again I want to Thank You for Your Words and I want to Thank You for all those who will want this kind of Godly Life in a Day-To-Day basis and they are saying: Lord, I’m surrendering my Life to You today.
Please receive them, save their Souls, have Mercy on them; let Your Blood wash away their sins, give them a Brand New Life.
And I’m Praying for all Your Children who are already True Christians; from today onwards, let every Day of their lives be Focused on You from Morning till Night Lord.
And let it be well with them.
And Lord, if we go to bed tonight and You Return before tomorrow Morning, Please don’t leave any of us behind.
