OPENING PRAYER
Father, we say Thank You!
Thank You for the Salvation of our Souls.
Thank You for the Gift of the Holy Ghost.
Thank You for the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Thank You for our father and mother in the Lord.
Thank You for forty (40) Years of Your Grace.
Lord, indeed we have come to say Thank You.
We ask Oh God, that this Evening, even in this Session, have Your way.
For in Jesus’ Glorious and Excellent Name we have Prayed – Amen.
Let the Redeemed of the Lord shout Hallelujah – Hallelujah.
Firstly, I want to Thank Jesus for this Glorious Privilege.
And I want to quickly Thank our father and mother in the Lord, Daddy and Mummy G.O for this great Privilege.
We do not cease to Thank God for the Gift and the Blessing that you are to us.
Daddy, I love you so much.
Mummy, I love you so much.
Thank you very much!
And to our Senior Pastors, all those who lift the hands of our father and mother in the Lord; Thank you so much.
And to the Leadership of the Youth and Young Adult (YAYA), Thank You very much. God Bless you, in Jesus’ Name!
Praise Master Jesus – Hallelujah.
I also want to celebrate my Brothers and Sister who have come before me Tonight.
- Some of them have read my Bible Texts.
- Some of them have said my Points;
But I trust God – You know, the burden of bringing God’s Word is not so much of saying something new.
It is bringing the same Word of God with freshness.
And I’m trusting God across the Auditoriums – The Old and the New, Connecting Online and On Sight, including those reading now on the Label of DMC; even in this fourth (4th) Session – Talk 4, that His Grace shall cause Excellence to rest on God’s People, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.
Psalm 8:1; LORD our Lord, how Excellent is thy Name in all the Earth! Who hast set thy Glory above the Heavens.
PRAYERS
Father, one more time, I ask Tonight, as I speak, speak to us in a Language that we will understand.
Holy Spirit, reveal Jesus through the Pages of the Scriptures and even through the Preaching of Your Word – Amen.
… And God’s people would say a Big Amen – Amen!
WHAT IS EXCELLENCE?
- Excellence for the Believer, is the Quality of Rising Above the Ordinary.
Not through Self Exaltation, but by being all that God has created and redeemed us to be.
- It is the Visible expression of His works in us.
Causing us to stand out as living Testimonies of His Grace.
- Excellence is reaching forth to the highest Standard through consistent efforts.
- It is showing forth the Workmanship of God is us.
- Our Bible Text (Psalm 8:1) says the Name of the Lord is Excellent.
- And by now we know that the Work of the Lord is Excellent.
- And as Children of God, Excellence is the minimum requirement.
Because, God has created us and even redeemed us to live an Excellent Life.
Ephesians 2:8 makes us understand that: For by Grace are ye saved through Faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God.
But Verse 10 (Ephesians 2:10) reveals something important to us: “We were not saved by work; we were saved for work.”
The Bible calls the Believer the “Workmanship” of God.
There is a Painting called “Mona Lisa” – It is the Workmanship of an Artist called Leonardo da Vinci.
DMC NOTES: The Mona Lisa is a 16th-Century Oil Portrait by Leonardo da Vinci, renowned for the Subject’s Enigmatic smile, sfumato technique, and immense Popularity. Believed to be Lisa Gherardini, wife of a Florentine silk Merchant, the Painting is celebrated for it’s Lifelike, Psychological depth and is displayed at the Louvre Museum.
When you see a good road, it is the Workmanship of good Firms, like Julius Berger.
Ephesians 2:10 tells us that, For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
So, we look at the Believer to tell how good the work of God is.
- So, if the Bible says that God is Excellent;
- And His Name is Excellent.
We look at His work – The Believer, who is the workmanship of God, to tell us how Excellent God is.
Jesus is an example of Excellence; Jesus is the Standard of Excellence.
- Excellence for the Believer is not only in Spiritual things.
The Believer ought to be a Master of both worlds – The Spiritual and the Physical.
- Excellence is being a Solution Provider; Continuously remaining a Solution Provider.
How do I know this? Daniel.
The Bible shows us in Daniel 5:12 – For context, the Bible says: Forasmuch as an Excellent Spirit, and Knowledge, and Understanding, interpreting of Dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
Daniel served four (4) Kings – And they were not Democratically elected Kings.
They were not Kings who served four (4) years each.
Monarchs ruled till they die, or till they are conquered. And by the Spirit of Excellence in Daniel, he served four (4) different Kings;
- He was relevant to his Age range.
- He was relevant to Gen-Z.
- He was relevant across Ages.
That’s the Spirit of Excellence!
And Jesus, the Model Man came to show us how to live the Excellent Life, because the Transformed Life Excels.
So the Bible would tell us in Romans 12:2 not to be confirmed to the world’s Standard – “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your Mind, that ye may Prove what is that good, and acceptable, and Perfect, Will of God.”
We are not to be conformed to the Standards of the world; rather we are to be transformed by renewing of our Minds.
- Excellence is a Life, not an Action:
You can carry out an action Excellently and still not be Excellent.
Excellence is seen in little things:
- It is seen daily.
- It is seen weekly.
- It is seen in the course of a man’s Life.
- Excellence conquers what Mediocrity complains about.
It is normal, it is human to give yourself to complain; but Excellence seeks for Solution.
The example is Nehemiah:
As a cupbearer in a foreign land, on hearing about the ruin of Israel, he could have sat down or complained; rather, he took up responsibility:
- What can be done?
- What is Possible?
Nehemiah took so much responsibility, so much so that he and his men; with one hand they held tools for rebuilding the wall; with another hand they held swords to fight the enemies.
The Believer ought to be a Master of both worlds.
Quickly, because of time. Because it would be excellent of me to stay within my time.
TWO (2) GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF EXCELLENCE.
I will give you two (2) Guiding Principles of Excellence:
- Excellence does not settle for Average: There is more in God.
Tell your neighbour: “There is more in God.”
Apostle Paul puts it so Perfectly. He said, “I forget the things that are behind. I forget my results of he Past.”
The greatest enemy of Excellence is Yesterday’s Results.
And so Paul said, “Because of the Work and the Glory ahead, I forget the things that are behind, and I Press.”
Tell your neighbour: “I Press!”
There is more in God.
Child of God, I don’t know what you have achieved since you became a Christian. I don’t know the result;
But I came all the way from the North under the Grace of our father-in-the-Lord to say, “There is More in God” – Amen.
Revelation 4:1 reveals a striking truth to us – The Apostle John was already caught up in the Heavens; After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in Heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as if it were of a Trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
So in Heaven there is Higher Ground.
- How much more on Earth?
- How much more in Africa?
- How much more in your Region?
- How much more in that Business?
Child of God, there is more in God.
- Don’t settle for Average.
- Don’t settle for your Results of yesterday.
There is so much God can do in you.
Just when the world thought we had arrived – We built the Old Auditorium of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Reporters from all over the world came to interview our father-in-the-Lord.
But before they knew it, we went on to build the New Auditorium ( 3 by 3 Kilometers).
RCCG is now in over One hundred and ninety (190) Nations.
And our father-in-the-Lord, with that Grace that says, There is more” came up with Vision 2032 – 40 Million Membership in RCCG by the Year 2032.
- Always going for more.
- Always reaching for more.
The Bible tells us: But the Path of the Just is like the Shining Light, that shines ever brighter unto the Perfect day. (DMC NOTES: Proverbs 4:18)
We don’t arrive in this Kingdom until we see Jesus.
- So no matter your results in the past; there is more in God.
- God can Heal more sick People through your Life.
- God can Minister to your Life.
There is so much God intends to do with our lives.
Even our Mother-In-Israel, Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye;
- One time she was leading the Choir.
- She is also in Charge of African Missions.
- And now a Chancellor of a University (Caleb University);
… Because, there is More in God!
And you see, like Peter, some People want to build a Tabernacle at Transfiguration.
Whereas, Excellence is in the Resurrection.
So, can I tell a “Peter” here tonight, or reading now on the Label of DMC:
- I know that you have seen the faces of Elijah and Moses;
- I know that the Countenance of Jesus has been altered;
But do not build a Tabernacle in the Resort.
Sin has not been Paid for; the Holy Ghost has not be given.
Don’t build a Tabernacle in the Transfiguration; Excellence is in the Resurrection.
- Excellence is Consistency.
Excellence simply put, is the act of being consistent – Excellence is consistency.
By the Mercy of God, we are here celebrating the Fortieth (40th) Anniversary of the Holy Ghost Service of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) because there is a God that begins, and a God that Journeys.
Our father-in-the-Lord is Eighty four (84) years now, because there is a God who begins; and there is a God who Journeys.
Excellence is being consistent; continuing in God daily, weekly – Reaching for the highest Standard.
I want to round up by saying this: Yes, Excellence is learnt – It is gotten when you are under a Tutor.
But I want to submit to you that Excellence is by a Spirit – Excellence is Sponsored by a Spirit.
Daniel 6:3 says, Then this Daniel was Preferred above the Presidents and Princes, because an Excellent Spirit was in him; and the King thought to set him over the whole realm.
- Daniel was able to serve four (4) Kings because…
- He was able to solve Riddles and answer hard Questions because…
- He remained relevant through the years because…
An Excellent Spirit was in him!
Genesis 41:37-43 says: And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
Daniel and Joseph are Proper examples of men who walked in Excellence.
The Bible reveals their secret – They had the Spirit of Excellence in them.
The Question I want to ask you this Evening is:
- Since you received the Holy Ghost, how Excellent have you become?
- What is your Level of Excellence now that you have the Holy Ghost?
Some of us only use the Holy Ghost to go out and come in.
Some of us only use the Holy Ghost to get a good jobs.
But I came to announce to us that Excellence is a Spirit; And the Spirit you receive at Redemption is a Spirit of Excellence.
By that Spirit, you can reach the highest Standard; And do so much more in God by the Spirit of Excellence that is at work in you.
Don’t sleep on the Spirit of God.
Don’t sleep on the Holy Ghost.
Use the Holy Ghost for an Excellent Life.
There is so much God intends to archive in us. If we are His Workmanship, we must live as such.
If you are still sitting down, you are not in an Excellent Position. You ought to jump on your feet right now.
PRAYER POINTS
- You are going to say: Father, I know Your Spirit is in me. Work out Excellence in my Life.
Open your mouth and Pray.
Lord, I am tired of this Level. I am tired of being a Local Champion; work out Excellence in my Life.
Are you Online, On-Sight, in the Old or New Auditorium, or reading now on the Label of DMC:
Open your mouth and Pray!
There is so much in God and there is so much that He can do through you.
Tell Him Lord, I am tired of Mediocrity; I am tired of living like I don’t have the Holy Ghost! Please, work out Excellence in my Life.
You have done it in the Life of our father-in-the-Lord; You have done it in the Life of our mother-in-the-Lord; and we see what You are doing in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). My Life will not be an exception.
For in Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
- You are going to say: Father, this Oil upon the head of Aaron – That is our father-in-the-Lord; let it Flow down into my Life.
The Spirit of Excellence that works in our father-in-the-Lord, let it flow down and rub off on me.
It is like the Precious Ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his Garments; (DMC NOTES: Psalm 133:2)
Let it meet me wherever I am: in the North, in the South, in the West, in the East; across the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG); in PSF, in YAYA, in the Regions.
Father, let it Flow!
Thank You Father.
For in Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen
CLOSING PRAYER
And so Father, we say Thank You!
Thank You for Your Grace;
Thank You for Your work in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Thank You for Your work in our Mother and Father’s Life.
We say be Exalted!
Lord, we ask Oh God, even through this Meeting:
We ask for the Spirit of Excellence to rest on us, in the Name of Jesus.
Anywhere we have been Mediocres, from today, we receive Grace to be Excellent.
Thank You Father!
For in Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
Let Somebody shout Hallelujah – Hallelujah!
