OPENING PRAYERS:

Mighty God, we cannot Thank You enough for all You have done for us from January to this particular Month. We give you all the Praises; receive it Lord, in the Name of Jesus.

Holy Spirit, my Senior Partner; come with Your Words for everyone of us. Put on us the Garment of Praise. And we Promise to continue to give You Praise.

In JESUS’ Name we have prayed – Amen!

Somebody with great expectations tonight; and you are sure your great expectations will not be aborted: can I hear you shout a big, big Hallelujah? HALLELUJAH!

I want to Thank God for this great privilege to bring His Words to us. It is my Prayer that as the Words comes forth, all of us will receive New Beginnings in our lives, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

I want to appreciate our father and mother in the Lord for the privilege to stand and bring God’s Words to us. It is my Prayer that your labour over us will not be in vain. And at the end of the day you will make it in Glory, in Jesus’ Name – Amen.

And I also want to appreciate our daddies and our mummies who have laboured over us. It is my Prayers that on the last day, none of us will be found wanting in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

We have been Swimming in Glory since the beginning of this Year. From the first Month to the fifth Month; and this Month is not different. We are continuing with Swimming in Glory – Part 6, with Subtitle: “BORN TO SING GOD’S PRAISE”.

The word “BORN” in this Topic is metaphoric; it’s symbolic in nature.

The word “BORN” represents PURPOSE for which we have come into this world.

BORN TO DO WHAT?

“When a Purpose of a thing is not known, abuse us inevitable”.

The Church of God today is full of so many “Abuses”: Abuse on the Grace of God over our lives; abuse on the Calling of God over our lives.

… Because the PURPOSE for which we are created is yet to be discovered.

But the topic tonight is to bring a reminder to us that it does not matter the assignment you are carrying out in the Church of God; it does not matter what you do for a living; everything you do should bring about Praise unto God.

You might be a Lawyer, you might be a Doctor, you can be a Pastor, you can be a Chorister!

Singing PRAISES to God is not a function of those who SING in the Church. Singing Praise to God is beyond Praise and Worship; it’s beyond Church activities.

It is an act that comes from a Personal Encounter with God.

Nobody can Praise God without a definite encounter. It is Encounter that propels people into Praising. 

Show me a man with Encounter, I will show you a man who lives a life of PRAISE unto God!

BIBLE TEXT: 1 PETER 2:9

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”

The PURPOSE for which we are created is to “GIVE GOD PRAISE!”.

We are created to showcase His Marvelous Works in our lives.

So what does it mean to: SING GOD’S PRAISE?

1. It means to declare His Marvelous Works among men. To tell people about the Wonderful Works of God through Singing.

2. It is to appreciate His Personality. God is not “Sango” (Yoruba Tribe in Nigeria god of Thunder). He is not an Idol, He is not Amadioha (a god in Igbo Tribe of Nigeria) – God is different!

… Our PRAISE unto God is to talk about the Personality of God; to talk about Who God is, through Songs.

3. It is to Exalt Him above all. To exalt Him above circumstances and situations.

Praising God is not a function of what you are going through; it is a function of the God that is inside of you. It is a function of who you know.

… Knowing this God will propel you into Praising Him.

Let’s look at the DIMENSIONS of PRAISE:

1. You Praise God through Songs and Hymns.

You can see that in Ephesians 5:19: “Speaking to yourselves in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”

2. You can Praise God in Tongues.

Jude  1:20 says: “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,”

I would like you to understand that Praising God is also part of Prayer.

In Matthew 6:9-13; the Bible has it on record that, when Jesus began teaching His Disciples how to pray, He said: “After this manner therefore Pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name….”

… So, Jesus was giving God PRAISE!

3. You can Praise God through Evangelism.

When you go out to win souls what do you tell them? You tell them about the Goodness of Jesus Christ. You tell them He can heal, you tell them He can deliver, you tell them He can save. By so doing, you are giving Praises unto GOD!

You see that in Acts 8:1-8; the Bible talks about Philip – when Philip went to Samaria. He evangelised to them and everyone of them was filled with Joy.

… And they began to Praise the Lord!

4. You can Praise God through the Working of Miracles.

When you are anointed of God, and you go about doing Wonders through the Name of Jesus; people will through that begin to Praise the Lord. They will through that Magnify the Lord.

In Acts 8:7; the Bible says the whole City of Samaria was filled with Joy; because of the Miracles, Signs and Wonders that happened through Philip.

5. You can Praise God through your Lifestyle.

People can Praise the Lord through the way you behave.

You see our father in the Lord; even our brothers from the other faith, when some of them come to Jesus Christ. They just say: I like that man (Daddy GO); because his lifestyle is Praising the Lord – you look at his lifestyle, you see Jesus.

Many of us are here because Daddy GO gave his life to Jesus Christ as a PRAISE unto God.

… And through that many of us have come to God.

You lifestyle can sing Praises unto God!

In Acts 9:36-42; the Bible spoke about the woman called Dorcas. She Praised God with her attitude, to the point that when she died, people said, NO! We can die for this woman to live. We have seen Jesus Christ through her. We have seen the Power of God through her. She Praised God through her lifestyle.

… Your lifestyle can bring PRAISE unto God!

Let’s look at the ABSURDITY OF PRAISE:

To the carnal mind, Praising God is ABSURD!

To the carnal mind, in some situations, you are not expected to Praise God. So in that kind of situation when you Praise God; you are seen as being an “ABSURD PERSON”.

What does it means to be ABSURD?

It means Abnormality – this is not normal.

I will give you two (2) points on Absurdity of Praise:

1. Praise is not Conventional. Every man Praises the Lord in the multitude of what he or she has seen and heard about God.

Praise is beyond the Church: It is beyond Praise Night, it is beyond when we come and the Praise Team lead us into Praise.

Not every singing is actually Praising God.

Praise is a function of the heart. When your heart harbours God; you are propelled into Praise.

Little wonder in our Churches, when Praise Team come, they lead Praises, but we don’t see God. Because it is not about singing!

The first instrument of Praise is your heart.

When there is a problem with the heart, there will be problem with your singing.

… Praise is not conventional. It is a personal thing that you do.

It is also a daily affair.

In Psalms  34:1; David said: “I will bless the LORD at all times: His Praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

I am not going to bless God occasionally; when I am down; I will bless the Lord. When I am up, I will bless the Lord. When my wife or my husband is dead. I will bless the Lord: In the Good Time, I will bless the Lord, In the bad times, I will bless the Lord.

Praise is not Conventional!

Praising God is beyond the Church: it’s beyond Praise Night, it’s beyond Praise Team.

Praising God comes out of a Personal Encounter with God.

2. Praising God is not for Normal People. Normal people don’t Praise the Lord.

How do you explain the case of people who went to battle and the Lord said: Instead of you to go with weapons of war, go with instruments of Praise.

… It is abnormal to people who are normal in the world.

If you want to Praise the Lord, you don’t have to be normal to people of this world. It is not for normal people.

When your child is at the point of death, instead of you to wail, you choose to PRAISE – It is not NORMAL!

The story our father in the Lord told us a long time ago; about a couple who were being joined together on their wedding day. That when they went to sign the Marriage Register (in the Vestry) the man slumped and died. They prayed, and nothing happened. But when they began to Praise; the man came alive.

Because Praise is not normal – normal people don’t Praise the Lord. People who are normal to this world; they don’t Praise the Lord.

SIGNIFICANCE OF PRAISE:

1. Praise is the “Dwelling Place of God”.

The Only Place God can be found is in the Place of Praise.

Psalms 22:3 says: “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the Praises of Israel.”

God can only be found in the Place of Praise!

You want God to be seen in your situation? Then engage in the act of Praise.

2. Praise is a Weapon of War.

2 Chronicles 20:20-22; the Bible says as they began to Praise the Lord, He set ambushment against their enemies.

STORY:

Some years ago, we had a Praise Night in our Parish. As we began to Praise; a particular sister began to manifest. They carried her to the Church office. And she began to talk. She said: I kill my father, I kill my mother, and am at the verge of killing my sister.

… All these came as a result of Praise – Anything can happen during Praise!

Have you ever wondered why one (1) of the Names of God is called “Fearful in Praises?”

God is unpredictable when it comes to Praise; God can appear anyhow – God can appear from any angle.

… That’s why He is “FEARFUL in Praises”.

Somebody shout hallelujah – Hallelujah!

3. Praise brings Divine Intervention.

When you Praise God, the Lord, without inviting Him; He comes over to take over your situation (Acts 16:16-26).

… You want Him to come into your matter? Engage in the ACT of Praise.

4. Men are raised by their Praises unto God.

Everyone who has ever gone up (by God); they climbed up through the “Ladder of Praise” (check through the Scriptures).

Everyone who was ever raised up by God; they are people who know how to worship God.

You want to be raised up by God?

Then, you must engage God in the Place of Praise!

Nobody Swims in Glory without Praise. One of the Ladders to Swimming in Glory is by Praise.

5. Praise turns the Power of God from the Potential stage to the Kinetic stage.

When the Power of God is at the stage of rest. When you begin to Praise: that Power of God comes alive, that Power of God begins to move.

… Because the Kinetic stage is the stage of movement.

I don’t know who you are; whether you are present in Camp, you are watching or reading this now on your sick bed; I don’t care about your location. If you can stand on your feet and make a Joyful noise unto the Lord; the Power of God will go on your behave: it will go to your father’s house, it will go to your mother’s house, it will go to your in-laws’ house. Every gang up of the wicked over your life; as you shout a “Shout of Praise”, they shall be turned around. They shall be scattered in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

I want to talk to us about PRAISE PROVOKERS:

People don’t Praise God without a reason.. Something propels people into Praising God.

1. The Knowledge of God propels people into Praise.

You cannot Praise who you don’t know. Praising God is a function of your knowledge.

When you are bereaved of knowledge, you can’t Praise God well.

When you are rich in the knowledge of God, Praise becomes generous – you are no longer forced to Praise.

Praise becomes a lifestyle. Because you know who He is, you know what He can do and you know what He is doing.

Knowledge is crucial to the Praising of God.

One of the ways to test Maturity and Growth on this journey to Heaven is PRAISE!

… Praise comes by knowledge.

2. The Sight of God can also provoke us unto Praise.

You can’t see God and be normal (2ce).

The Bible says: And God appeared in Shiloh, via His Words.

… People who see God; they don’t behave like normal people.

Are you not wondering why you see our Daddy in the Lord always going about with his Tambourine?

He has seen God. He knows who He is; and that’s why he doesn’t take God for granted.

He Praises God!

When Moses was about to see God, God said: you can’t see me and live. The moment Moses saw God, he couldn’t even stand it.

In Mark 5:1-6; the Bible says, when the mad man of Gadara saw Jesus from afar; even the demons inside him recognised Jesus and said: Bros, I hail oooh! Bros I am ready to go wherever you want to send me to. And please send me to that corner.

Jesus said: Wetin you dey wait for? Pack your load and GO!!!

And the demons jumped out of him. The Bible says the demons were about ten thousand (10,000) of them.

How many demons are on your case?

If you can stand up and shout hallelujah, all the demons inside of you will jump out; in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

3. The ACTS of God can provoke you into praise.

When in your very eyes, you see the lame walking, you see the blind seeing – Nobody will tell to Praise the Lord.

In Acts 3:1-8; the Bible says that the lame man at the Beautiful Gate; when through Peter and John, he stood up and he began to leap for joy, he entered into the Beautiful Gate; everyone who had seen him before, and they knew his condition. When they saw him again, and they knew something had happened; they all joined him to Praise God.

I don’t know how you came here: Maybe you came here with hypertension, maybe you came here with burdens in your heart; I can tell you how you are going to leave here. By the time you shall be going home (after this meeting); you shall be dancing the “Dance of Joy” in the Name of Jesus – Amen. You shall be singing the “Songs of Praises” in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

The RESULTS OF PRAISE

Quickly. I will take that from the story of Paul and Silas. In Acts 16:16-26;

What do we stand to gain? What do we stand to benefit?

1. Praise turns Problems to Promotion.

It does not matter your problem, as you Praise God tonight; if your Amen can go high, the Lord will turn your Problems into  Promotions, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

2. Praise Turns your Test to Testimony.

I don’t know where you are; the devil has been testing you, the devil has been provoking you. As you Praise the Lord tonight, and you shout another Amen: your “Test” will be replaced with “Testimony” in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

3. Praise Turns your Trials into Triumph.

I don’t know where the devil is looking for your trouble or he is trying you. As you engage God in the Place of Praise and you shout another Amen; You will triumph over all your enemies in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

4. Praise Turns your Obstacles to Miracles.

It doesn’t matter what has been standing on your way; when you engage God in the Place of Praise; as in the case of Joshua Chapter 6: the wall of Jericho around you will come down, n the Name of Jesus – Amen.

5. Praise Turns your Attack into Attraction.

It does not matter where the devil is attacking you; as you engage God in the Place of Praise, all your Attacks will be turned into Attraction in Name of Jesus – Amen.

6. Praise Turns your Affliction into Distinction.

It does not matter how afflicted you are; if you can gather yourself together and begin to Praise the Lord: your Affliction will be turned into Distinction, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

As I close; Who are those who are QUALIFIED to Praise the LORD?

1. Those who have been washed by the Precious Blood of the Lamb – Those who are saved, those who have confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Personal Saviour; they are qualified to Praise God tonight (and always).

2. Those who are CONSECRATED.

Consecration is one (1) thing that is missing in the Church today. If you can get yourself Consecrated; because God does not eat anything.

The only food God eats is PRAISE. And you are the vessel through which that “FOOD” is served.

Nobody can eat from a dirty vessel. Except a mad man. Anybody who wants to serve God must first wash the plate, before serving the food. 

The same way you are a vessel that will give God Praise. And the only Praise God will accept is from those who have been Consecrated – “Set Apart” unto God.

2 Timothy 2:21 says: “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.’

When our father in the  Lord will come forth, and he will give the Altar Call; don’t argue with the Spirit of the Lord. Because today is the day of Salvation; tomorrow may be too late.

As you Praise the Lord tonight, I see Him intervening in your matter, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

CLOSING PRAYERS:

I stand upon the sacrifices our father in the Lord has paid: in the Place of Giving and in the Place of Prayer; and I Pray for everyone watching or reading all over the world. As you stand up and shout Amen; your Point of sorrow will become your Point of PRAISE – Amen.

I say two (2) more times; I don’t care your situation, I decree by the Sacrifice our father in the Lord has paid: in the night, in the day. I say your Point of sorrow will become your Point of Praise, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

Somebody with the loudest Amen; I say your Point of sorrow will become your “POINT OF PRAISE”, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

Father we give You Praise! Bless Your Words in our hearts, and give us Grace to walk by it.

In Jesus’ Name we have Prayed – AMEN!
