OPENING PRAYER
Our Father, our God, our King; the Holy One of Israel, the Highest; the Almighty, the All-Sufficient God – We worship You.
We give You all the Glory, we give You all Honour and we ask that You will accept our Worship in Jesus Name.
Father, we are Praying that today You will send Your Word and Your Word will heal Your People and will Set the Captives Free.
We Pray Lord God Almighty that by the time this Service is over; several People over the world or those reading now on the Label of DMC will have several Testimonies.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!
Well, wave to one (1) or two (2) People and say: Good Day; God Bless You!
And then you may Please be seated.
As we continue with our series on: “GOING HIGHER; we now move on to Part 27 (Going Higher – Part 27).
And our Bible Text will be: 1 Kings 18: 25-29:
25 And Elijah said unto the Prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many, and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
27 And it came to Pass at Noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.
29 And it came to pass when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
If you want to Put a Sub Title to today’s Message; you Probably want to call it: “Mocking The Devil”.
In Psalms 115: 3-8; the Bible says that He is our God that is in the Heavens; He does as He Pleases.
But idols are dumb – They have mouths, they can’t speak; they have ears, they can’t hear; they have eyes, they can’t see.
Our God is Sovereign, but idols are useless!
In Daniel 11:32; the Bible says that if you know your God; you can do Exploits.
James 4:7 made it clear that if you are truly Submissive to God; you can resist the devil and he will flee from you.
We serve a God who can hear Prayers.
Psalms 65:2 says: Oh ye that hears Prayers; unto ye shall all flesh come.
Not only can He hears; He can also answer.
Jeremiah 33:3 – It says that if you call on Me, I will answer you.
So, I want to begin this Message by Praying for all of you listening to me or reading now on the Label of DMC: That all your Prayers will be answered today in Jesus’ Name – Amen!
But here Elijah tried to show the difference between believing God and Idols!
- He told the Prophet of Baal – He said maybe the reason your god is not answering you is because he is busy talking – That is why he is not hearing you.
Now, we know that our God does talk but our God is not Talkative – We need to Note that!
Psalms 62:11 says: God has Spoken once and twice have I heard this that power belongs to God.
… Our God does not have to speak more than once to get anything done!
Let there be Light and there was Light – That’s it. He does not have to repeat Himself (Not a Talkative).
I. If for any reason whatsoever, He repeats Himself; He is saying: Hey, Pay attention!
Like in John 3:3; He said to that Man: Verily, Verily I say unto you; except a man be Born Again, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
In John 14:12, He said: Verily, Verily I say unto you; he that believeth in Me, the work I do shall he do also.
… He says: Pay attention to what I’m doing!
II. When God repeats Himself three (3) times; then the situation must be very serious.
Like in Joshua 1: 1-8 – Three (3) times God said to Joshua: Be Strong and Be of Good Courage; the Second (2nd) time: Be Strong and Be of Good Courage; when He said it the Third (3rd) time, you can feel a hint of anger in His Voice – I said only be Strong and of Good Courage have I not commanded you?
Now, He was talking to a Messenger that He wanted to Promote overnight to become Head of State.
So, you can understand “Poor Joshua” trembling – How can I take over from Moses?
I mean I knew Moses: I was very Close to him – You appeared to him in a bush of fire. For the Past forty (40) Years; he has been leading the People and these People that he was leading, they were so Stubborn; they made sure he didn’t get to the Promised Land.
And now you are asking me his Servant to take over?
… The Poor boy was trembling! Three (3) times, God has to say: Be Strong and of Good Courage!
III. But there is something interesting here that I believed that you should take Note of – And that is four (4) times in the Bible; God repeated Himself over a Particular Issue.
I think that you should know that such a thing must be Critical!
Four (4) times: Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38 – What was God saying four (4) times? – THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH!
Four (4) times; God who is not a Talkative repeated Himself saying again, and again, and again, and again – The Just shall live by Faith.
That tells you the importance of Faith in the Life of a Christian
Why that emphasis? – Because you are Going Higher, you need to Note.
Because it is written in Hebrews 11:6 – Without Faith, it is impossible to Please God.
So God is saying: Hey, you want to Please Me; you better be a Man or Woman of Faith.
In Romans 14:23; it is also written: Whatever is not Faith is sin.
Meaning what? – You have no Faith you are a sinner. It doesn’t matter what Title you bear.
And you can be sure that no sinner is going to Heaven.
And so God, who is not a Talkative; insisted that you must live by Faith.
Now, there is something else about the fact that God is not a Talkative – This means that those of us who are His Children should not be Talkative!
Because the Bible says in Proverbs 10:19 that: Out of the Multitudes of Words you can’t avoid sin.
If you are a Talkative; you are bound to sin – You are bound to say something that should not be said.
And then Proverbs 29:11 tells us that: A fool utters all that is in his Mind but a Wise Person keeps some of it back.
Meaning what?
If you are a Talkative; the Bible tells us that you are a Fool!
And the fool has said in his heart that there is No God!
So, being Talkative is a very terrible thing.
So, as a “True Christian”, “Child of God”; from now on, watch your Mouth!
… So our God answers Prayers but He is not a Talkative
- Elijah said to the Prophets of Baal – Maybe your God is Pursuing!
Our God does not Pursue – That is the major difference between God and Idols.
Why? – Because He is everywhere at all times.
Psalms 139: 7-10 – If you go to the bottom of the Ocean, He is there; you go to the Highest Heavens, He is there.
… So, He doesn’t have to Pursue anybody to catch him or her.
I mean remember the Story of Jonah – God told Jonah: I want you to go to Nineveh in Jonah 1: 1-17.
God told Jonah I want you to go to Nineveh to go and Preach to the People there and Jonah said that I am not going, I will run away.
And he turned to the opposite direction and began to go to Tarshish.
And funny enough, he decided to go by sea and God was waiting for him there.
The One who made the sea; who made the wind said: Okay, I asked you to go to Nineveh but you think you are clever, you are running to Tarshish – He sent a Storm.
And until they threw him overboard; the Storm didn’t cease.
And he was thinking that at least that is fine, I won’t deliver the message.
God said: Ha, I’m ready for you at the bottom of the Ocean – I have a Messenger there waiting to swallow you.
God told the Whale to swallow him and told the Whale that this is for Safe Keeping and not for eating.
By the time Jonah came to his senses and he said: God, I cried to you from the bottom of the Ocean.
And God said: Fine, no Problem – Whale go and vomit him. Don’t vomit him inside the Ocean as he doesn’t know how to swim – Take him to a Dry Land.
Do you think that you can run from God? Do you want to run? – How?
I. By Land? – Read your Bible.
In Numbers 16: 28-33 – There were some people who thought that they are Clever and they wanted to gang up against a Servant of God.
God told the Ground to swallow them up.
Do you want to run away by Land? – He can ask the Ground to open up and just swallow you
II. Or you say that I will run away by Air – Maybe if you read Joshua 10:11.
The Bible will tell you that when some enemies were trying to run away from God; God bombarded them with Hailstones.
And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword – Joshua 10:11
God is the first (1st) Person to throw a Bomb!
… So, you can’t run away from Him by Land; you can’t run away from Him by Sea; you can’t run away from Him by Air.
If you are wise, you will surrender because He doesn’t have to Pursue you to catch up with you.
And He doesn’t have to go Hunting because the word “Pursuing” there could also mean Hunting (Looking for animals to eat).
Psalms 50: 10-12 tells us that the Cattles upon a thousand Hills; belong to God.
That is why He said that if I am hungry, I won’t even tell you.
You know that there is a Story in John 21: 1-13 – Very, very interesting Story. I wish you can read it again.
It happened after Jesus Christ rose from the dead and then Peter said: I go Fishing and his friends say we will go with you.
And they fished all night and they caught nothing.
And Jesus Christ appeared to them in the morning and said: Hey, have you caught anything?
They said Nothing.
And He said: Okay, come and dine with Me.
The Bible said that by the time they landed; they saw that Jesus Christ was already cooking fish.
Do you know that Nobody asked Him: How do you catch your own fish?
He doesn’t have to use a Net to catch a fish – All He has to do is to tell the fish to jump on board.
… He doesn’t have to go A-Hunting.
Our God doesn’t Pursue; He doesn’t go A-Hunting.
Do you know that one interesting thing about this is that if God ever asked you to give Him something; He is doing you an Honour because He doesn’t need anything from you!
What He wants, He can bring it from anywhere!
And you know that the Bible Scholars said that when Jesus Christ said that if you ask anything in My Name, I will do it.
He is saying (According to Bible Scholars): If you ask Me for something that I have never created, I will create it for you!
… That is our God!
- But then Elijah now went further and said: Maybe your god travelled. Maybe that is why he hasn’t answered you – Cry a little louder maybe he will return from his Journey.
Our own God doesn’t travel – And I like that a lot!
You see, according to Isaiah 66:1; the Bible says that He sits down on His Throne in Heaven and His Legs rest on the Earth.
From His Throne, He is in Absolute Control of everything that is happening.
When you say Travelling – Where is God going to travel to? From where to where?
As a matter of fact; the Bible says that He is sitting down there on His Throne and His Eyes are running to and fro throughout the whole Earth.
2 Chronicles 16:9 – For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole Earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth, thou shalt have wars.
He never needed to travel – If He has to get a Message across; He will send His Words.
Psalms 107:20 says: He sends His Words and it heals them and delivers them from their Destruction.
He sits on His Throne and says: This fellow be Healed; this fellow be Delivered and instantly it will happen.
And I’m representing Him (God) today or as you read now on the Label of DMC and say unto you: In the Name that is above every other names, any one of you sick, be Healed in Jesus Name – Amen!
Every one of you within the reach of my voice or reading now on the Label of DMC: Every form of Yoke in your Life; I decree that they be broken right now in Jesus Name – Amen
… So He speaks to Heal; He speaks to Deliver.
And then He Guides – You need Counsel, you need Advice, you don’t know what to do next – He doesn’t need to travel. All He needs to do is speak!
1 Kings 17: 2-16 – When He wanted to guide Elijah on what to do next; He said: Go to Cherith.
When the River there dried up; He said: Go to the Widow of Zarephath.
He can Guide you simply by sitting on His Throne and sending His Words!
- And then Elijah said: Maybe your god is asleep; maybe you need to wake him up.
You know that one of the Most Beautiful Things about God is that He never Sleep, He never Slumbers.
Psalms 121: 3-4 says He never sleeps nor slumbers.
Why? – Because He is never tired.
Isaiah 40: 28-29 – While He supplies Strength to everybody else; He Himself is never tired.
So, when you cry to Him and it appeared as if maybe He is not hearing or maybe He is sleeping. Even when He Pretends to be sleeping; He is still in control.
Mark 4: 35-41 – The Bible said that when He was in a boat and there was a Storm and He appeared to be sleeping. And the Disciples said: Hey Master; careth thou not that we Perished?
He got up and said what kind of rubbish is that?
Hey, you Sea be Still!
And immediately, there was calm.
I Pray that you will hear from God today – Amen.
… That His Words will heal you, His Words will bring you Deliverance, His Words will Guide you and His Words will bring Peace to your Storms.
The Conclusion is Simple:
- We have a God – He hears, He Prays, He can Answer Prayers and He Promise to Answer.
- We have a God who doesn’t go A-Hunting; a God who doesn’t travel; a God who doesn’t sleep; a God who is not a Talkative; who isn’t busy talking at a time that He should hear you.
The Conclusion is in Psalms 46:1 – He said: God is the Ever-Present Help in times of trouble.
You are serving a God who is ever ready to Help – It doesn’t matter where you are; it doesn’t matter the time of the Day or Night; you have a God who is on Call 24/7.
Anytime you called on Him; He is ready to answer you.
I remembered Years ago – The first (1st) time that I have cause to visit a Head of State outside Nigeria.
And I saw how many doors I had to Pass-through at his Invitation – Security Check 1; Security Check 2; Security Check 3; Security Check 4 and then I got to where it is called Reception.
And finally, they came to take me, and then we had to go through two (2) other Security Checks again before we finally got to see him.
I said: Thank God it is so easy to see Jesus Christ!
Anytime that I want to see my Master, my King, my Commander-In-Chief – As soon as I say in the Name of Jesus Christ; I am in His Presence!
What a joy of being a Child of God!
ALTAR CALL
This is why before we Pray today; I will want to encourage you again – If you are still toiling with the issue of Salvation; Hey, make up your Mind.
If you are still trusting one Idol or the other; you are trusting one fake Prophet or the other – Hey change your Mind.
Give your Life to Jesus Christ today – He is the Only Sure, Ever Present Help in times of trouble. He is the One you can Call upon any time, anywhere and He will answer you.
So, if you want to give your life to Jesus Christ; wherever you are – Bow your head and cry out to Him: Ask Him to save your soul, ask Him to receive you into His Family so that from now on, whenever you need Help, you Call and the Answer will come!
… Let Us Pray!
PRAYER FOR SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER
Ancient of Days – The One who is everywhere at all times; the Ever-Living God; the One who neither sleeps nor slumbers.
I Thank You for Your Words and I Thank You for those who are surrendering their lives to You at this moment.
Father, Please receive them, save their Souls, let Your blood wash away their sins, write their names in the Book of Life.
And from now on my Father and my God; anytime they call on You; Please answer them by Fire.
And those of us who are already Your Children and we need help in one form or the other today; Please as we cry unto You, answer us Speedily and take all the Glory for it.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
Praise the Lord – Hallelujah!
