BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 14:12
OPENING PRAYER
Our Father and our God, we want to bless Your Holy Name.
Thank You for being our Master,
Thank You for being our Commander-In-Chief,.
Thank You for making us Your Disciples
Please accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.
Tonight, in Your Own Miraculous way, Please visit us, speak to us Lord and Glorify Your Holy Name.
We Pray that this Year’s Disciples Convention will be full of Miracles, Signs and Wonders.
Please don’t let us go back home the way we came.
In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
Well, if you are a Disciple, give a Disciple Hallelujah – Hallelujah!
John 14:12:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
When we say “Greater Works”, how are we to respond: “Greater Works than this”.
So, when we talk about the “Excellent Disciple”; we are talking about a Disciple who can do Greater works than the Master.
In other words, when we are taking about Good, Better, Best; before we come to Excellent.
By the time a Disciple is as Good as his Master, he is already Good.
For a Disciple to be Excellent, he must be able to do more than his Master ever did.
And in the Name that is above every other name, everyone of you will be able to do more than Jesus Christ did – Amen!
When Stephen was being stoned to death, he Proved that he was a Good Disciple – At the Point of his death, he Prayed for those who are killing him just as Jesus Christ Prayed for those who Crucified Him. He asked God to forgive those who are killing him.
… He was a Good Disciple.
But an Excellent Disciple must be able to do more than his Master did.
Elisha was an Excellent Disciple – Elijah his Master was able to do Mighty Things:
☆ He called down Fire from Heaven anytime that he wanted.
☆ And he crossed River Jordan just be smittening it with the Mantle.
But Elisha said that I want to exceed what you did – I want to be an Excellent Disciple. He got a Double Portion of his Spirit.
He followed the footsteps regimentally as we have learnt in the School of Disciples (SOD).
When he wanted to cross River Jordan after Elijah has left; he not only took the Mantle but he did exactly what his Master did – He wrapped the Mantle together like his Master did.
He smote River Jordan the way his Master did,
But at the end of the day, we saw that he was an Excellent Disciple.
Why? Because going through the Scriptures, his Master (Elijah) Performed seven (7) Miracles and by the time Elisha died, he had only Performed thirteen (13) Miracles and Performed the extra Miracle after he has died.
Paul the Apostle was not just a Good Disciple, he exceeded what the Lord did in such a manner that the Bible says: God Performed Special Miracles by the hand of Paul.
Jesus Christ healed a woman who touched the hem of His Garment while Paul was sending out the Handkerchiefs and Aprons from his body to go to People and they don’t have to even near him to obtain their Miracles.
The School of Disciples (SOD) has been around for years – Many of us joined the School of Disciples (SOD) from the very beginning way back in 1985.
The Question is:
Are we already doing what Jesus Christ did?
If we are already doing what Jesus Christ did, then we are Good Disciples.
But we don’t want to be just “Good”; we want to be “Excellent”.
I had attended a Convention of Pentecostals – As a matter of fact, the Biennial Conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) last year (2025) in Abuja.

And then, it was my turn to speak – And the Choir was “Good” as they sang very well.
But then, I turned to them and said: “You have been Good but I wish that you are Excellent”
I said that I have been here since the Previous day and all the songs that you have been singing are just Beautiful English songs. But this is a Convention of Nigerians and I haven’t heard a Single Nigerian song – No song in Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba and this is a Conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
So, you see the difference between “Good” and “Excellent”.
I said that I also heard you singing a Particular English Song that has what we called Refrains – You know a closing kind of Chorus at the end of a Song.
You sang the refrain first time and we are hearing the refrain for the first time – And so, many of us didn’t catch it.
So you sang it again the second time and I said, thank you; now we heard what you have said.
Now, you sang it the third time and I said, nice we now enjoyed it.
Now, you repeated it for the 4th time, we say okay, we are Standing Solidly on four (4) Pillars.
Then you sang it the fifth time and I said, that is Grace.
Then you sang it the sixth time, I said that by the time you moved from 5 to 6 time; you have moved to the Number of Man because six (6) is the Number of Man.
I said that God is a Spirit, they that Worshipped Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth (DMC NOTES: John 4:24).
… Then you are moving from the realm of the Spirit to the realm of Man – Good Song, beautiful refrain.
Then you moves on the seven times; I said maybe they wanted to make it Perfect.
Then you move on to eight, nine and ten times – I think I stopped counting.
I said that I am telling you this because you are my Children – There is a difference between between Good and Excellent.
Disciples, you must be Excellent:
☆ Excellent when you Pray.
Not walking around, with your hands in your Pocket and you are Praying as if you are playing.
You are talking to the Almighty God.
Don’t you know how Jesus Christ Prayed? For a man to Pray until he was sweating blood; that is not a Casual Prayer.
If you don’t want to talk to Him, no Problem – Who is in Problem? Is it Jesus?
☆ Disciples, if Nobody is shouting Hallelujah when People say that they should shout; Disciples should not be begged to shout Hallelujah.
☆ Disciples, you know what the Master said in His Words – He says clearly that He loves a Cheerful Giver.
If Nobody is clapping and rejoicing when we say that it is Offering Time, Disciples should do so.
Each time they say that it is Offering Time in a Congregation where there are Disciples, even if you are only few there; when you shout and rejoice, that is when People will turn round and say: “These People are different.”
Disciples, you must Excellent in Prayer, Praise, Giving and in everything that you do.
☆ And then you must be Excellent in Power.
A Disciple if he is going to be an Excellent Disciple, will only very, very rarely refer the Sick to a Senior Pastor.
What Jesus Christ said was that “The work that I do, you will do also”.
What you should ask yourself during this Convention is:
☆ Lord, I have been a Disciple all these days/years; why am I not already doing at least the works that You did?
A Disciple doesn’t just obey Instructors, he does it Promptly.
A Disciple does not have to be told two (2) or three (3) times to stop now for Christ sake.
In a Gathering of Disciples, that should not happen.
Someone a Retired Judge of the Court of Appeal in Nigeria came to visit me just tonight.
And as we were talking, he told me that I have graduated from the School of Disciples (SOD).
I said you mean it ma? She said yes. And we started talking.
And I told her that when we started the School of Disciples (SOD); the Chief Judge of Ogun State joined us.
And in those days, I had the opportunity of going round because when we want to Graduate; Graduation in those days involve cutting Grass – It does not matter who you are.
Because each time that we come for the School of Disciples (SOD), we come in on Friday Night – We cut the grass, we dig hole, carry cement, we build houses at Night. All of us do that including myself.
And then the Day of Graduation came – They have already cut the grass and I was now inspecting. And then I came to the Section that was cut by the Chief Judge of the whole State.
And in those days, if you cut grass; there must be no grass above 2cm after you have cut the grass.
In those days, when we ask you to wash the Plates or clean the Toilet; we use dettol – Disciples Clean.
It must be clean such that everybody passing by will know that a Disciple has passed by here.
And so I told her that while I was inspecting and I got to the Place where the Chief Judge has cut the grass, I saw a piece of grass that was a little over 2cm high.
And so I called him: Sir, what happened? After you cut this Place, a Miracle happened and it grew again?
And this is a Man who has not cut grass since Secondary School days – He hasn’t cut grass for more than forty (40) years.
He laughed – He looked at his hand and I smiled. I said that I understand and so together we laughed.
I said don’t worry, come with me and let us inspect the remainder – The cutting of grass of others and we won’t find a grass above 2cm where the Disciple has done cutting.
When a Disciple washes a Toilet (Pit Latrine), you can go there and hold a Bible Study – There will be no odour.
… That is what we called Disciples in those days – We work during the Night, we work during the day and we leave a track behind to show People that a Disciple has been here.
During the Convention, we did the work – We cut firewood, we do washing of Plates.
When we are washing Plates, other Disciples will come to me and say: Sir, we will like to do this and that. I will say, what are you talking about?
It is in the School of Disciples (SOD) that we learnt that “The hand that cannot do Manual Labour cannot raise the dead.
You say, then how come that we don’t see you in the Kitchen anymore?
Because if I say that I want to wash Plates in the Kitchen, People who don’t know what is going on; they will come out not to help me wash but to touch the hand that is washing. And I won’t be able to do any work.
And yet, you want to be able to say to the People: Raise your Handkerchiefs and I will bless it in the Name of the Lord.
And they will come back with reports that Somebody died and we laid the Handkerchiefs upon the Fellow and the Fellow came back to Life.
That is what we are expected to be.
By now, when Somebody come to the Convention; as soon as they touches any Sick Person; they are supposed to be healed.
We are supposed to be Commandos of God and not ordinary Soldiers of Christ.
DMC NOTES: A Commando is an elite Soldier in a specialized Military unit trained for high-risk operations, such as hit-and-run raids, sabotage, and reconnaissance, often behind enemy lines. They undergo rigorous physical and tactical training to act quickly and aggressively in hostile environments.
Before we leave this SOD Convention 2026, you must become Excellent!
Stand on your feet!
You are going to Pray to God: Ask Him to forgive you.
How can I be trained in Your School Oh God and still can’t even heal an Ant?
How can I be Your Disciple and still not do at least what You have done?
Forgive me Oh Lord and Change me now to become an Excellent Disciple.
Ask Him for Mercy for being Lazy.
Ask Him for Mercy for not doing what you are supposed to do as a Disciple.
Cry to Him to Change you so that you can become an Excellent Disciple.
Go ahead now and Pray!!!
