TOPIC: THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT.

Father, we want to Thank You for Your Mercy, for Your Grace; helping us through Bible School.
Thank You so much!
We know it’s all by Grace, and we appreciate it all.
And Lord, I know that You have a Vision for every one of us for taking us through the Bible School.
I just Pray O God, that by this Message, You’ll make this Vision Clearer.
Be exalted,
Be Glorified
In Jesus’ Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.
Can somebody shout Hallelujah – Hallelujah!

I just remember one big woman: So she made a Statement and said that they should go ahead and review the Bible, so that the Bible can support some of the modern beliefs.
… That they should review the Bible to support Human Belief.
When I heard her talking on the Television I said, “This woman has Spiritual Mental Problem and she needs a Spiritual Psychiatrist.”
In fact, if I mention her name, it’s likely all of you will know her. But there’s no need for that.
Somebody who thinks that God should modify what He has said, so as to fit in to the conditions and the lifestyles of Human Beings.
The converse is what is the reality: Man should change to fit into what God is saying.
Anybody who thinks God should change to fit into what man is saying has Spiritual Mental Problem.
We are looking at “The Sword of the Spirit.”
And our Bible Text is in Ephesians 6:17:
And take the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God:
We are Mountain Movers, in the Name of Jesus Christ – Amen.
We remove Obstacles; we establish Miracles in the Name of Jesus Christ – Amen.
And we want to look at the The Sword of the Spirit from that Perspectives.
Now we are out of Bible School; so what do we do with what we have learned?
What do we do?
How we move Mountains having studied the Bible?
PERSPECTIVES OF MOUNTAINS
There are Three (3) Perspectives of Mountains that I want to consider in the short time that I have to share this Message.
And then a hint on the Process that moved each of these Mountains.
- Principalities.
The first (1st) Mountain is a Mountain that is related to the devil; to Satan – It’s a very big Mountain.
Because the Bible says, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (DMC NOTES: Ephesians 6:12)
Those titles are high titles – They are not just mean people.
We are not just fighting ordinary demons – The demons we are fighting are the ones that can stop Angels from operation.
Like the Prince of Persia who can stop an Angel for twenty one (21) days, until that Angel receives reinforcement from Heaven.
So we are not wrestling against mere demons that you just say, “Out! In Jesus’ Name’ and they go out.
These ones we wrestle, you don’t just cast them out on Jesus’ Name, and they go out. No, they are Principalities, Pinces; Prince of Persia, Prince of Nigeria, Prince of wherever.
They are Powers, they are Rulers.
They are Wicked – Extremely wicked, Spiritual wickedness.
But we Thank God that He that is in us is Greater than he that is in the world.
- The Lord Jesus Christ has overcome all of them.
- He has triumphed over them in it.
- And He has handed over this Authority to us.
He says, Behold, I give unto you Power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (DMC NOTES: Luke 10:19)
No matter how great the Principalities and Powers, Rulers and Forces of Darkness may be, the Power delegated to us supersedes their Power.
So we must view it from that Perspectives – That no matter how big these demons are: Demons, Princes, the Power in us supersedes them.
Because He that is in us is Greater than he that is in the world (DMC NOTES: 1 John 4:4)
When God says that kind of thing, it means our attitude should be right towards these forces, that we are not taking them for granted.
But at the same time, we know that we know, that we know, that we know! That the Power in us supersedes all Demonic Powers.
A number of times the way some People talk, they speak as if the demons are so Powerful that Christians should be afraid of them. No!
We have to Watch – We are to be cautious, but not afraid of them.
- He that is in you is Greater than he that is in the world.
- He that is in you supersedes every Satanic Power.
Whether he’s called the dragon or the old serpent, or Satan, or the devil;
… They overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb!
Can Somebody shout: The Blood of Jesus!
Please shout it loud: The Blood of Jesus!!
Shout it with Authority: The Blood of Jesus!!!
… They overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb.
One more time: The Blood of Jesus!!!!
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their Testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (DMC NOTES: Revelation 12:11)
Those two (2): The Blood of the Lamb and by the Sword of the Spirit.
Because the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God – It is the combination:
I. The Blood of the Lamb covers us, giving us assurance of absolute Protection, removing every sin.
So the accuser of the Brethren has nothing substantial to accuse us of.
II. And the Sword of the Spirit – The Word of our Testimony now commands in a way that these forces cannot stand it.
And if you look at that Ephesians 6:10-11, the Bible says: Finally, my Brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the Power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
… To be Protected from all the wiles of the devil.
So God has Provided for us what protects us from all the wiles of the devil.
Not from some, not from many – I mean that you are totally protected against every satanic force without exception.
You are completely protected against every satanic force, against all the wiles of the devil.
And if you go further, Ephesians 6:16 says: Above all, taking the Shield of Faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
It is not you will quench “some” darts of the wicked; not you will quench “many” darts of the devil.
“Wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Every arrow of Satan is quenchable – Amen!
It’s not just quenchable, we have been given the capacity to quench every arrow of Satan.
That’s why my heart goes back to the fact that they overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of their Testimony.
Please, can we say that Blood of Jesus again? The Blood of Jesus!
Please, one more time, with real Authority – The Blood of Jesus!!
… And by the Word of their Testimony.
- Worldliness
The second (2nd) Level of Mountain that we must move by the Word of God is the Mountain of Worldliness.
In Romans 12:2, the Bible says, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your Mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and Perfect, Will of God.
If you get Conformed, you can’t be Transformed.
Because if you get Conformed, you become Deformed – Spiritually Deformed.
… But be not conformed to the world.
God sent us into the world that we should be in the world, but not of the world.
God, in the word of Lord Jesus Christ has overcome the world.
The Lord Jesus stated this several times, “I have overcome the world.” (DMC NOTES: John 16:33)
And He has delegated that Authority to us.
The way He delegated the fact that He has overcome the devil, He has overcome the world, and He has given us that authority; so that we can enjoy the things that are in the world without being overcome by the things in the world.
We can be in the world without being of the world.
This is the Standard of what God wants of us.
And when we look at the world and we look at the world system, and we think the whole thing is so corrupt, that the whole thing is so negative, the whole thing is so bad;
- And we say, what are Christians going to do?
- Is there any hope for Christianity?
I’ve heard People make that Statement a number of times – They say, “Is there any Hope for Christianity”
The Lord Jesus looked at it; looked at the world, looked at the crowd. What did He say?
He says, “The Harvest truly is Plenteous.” (DMC NOTES: Matthew 9:37, Luke 10:2)
But where is there a Question Mark? The Labourers.
This is why God has released you from the Bible College – So that you can match the scarcity of Labourers and you can fill the gap.
You see, if this Sword of the Spirit to you is not the Word of God that is quick and Powerful – That is, if it is not alive to you and Powerful through you, then there is a Problem.
For the Word of God is quick, and Powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (DMC NOTES; Hebrews 4:12)
It may be that you went to Bible School, but Bible School didn’t go through you. Because if the Bible School went through you, the Word would be alive in you and it will be Powerful in you.
Think about somebody like Jeremiah. At a time Jeremiah said: because everywhere he preached they insulted him. It was very difficult for him and his Ministry was very difficult.
So after a time Jeremiah said, I’m not going to Preach again – I will not preach again. What’s all this Problem? Everywhere I go, they are insulting me. I’m not Preaching again!
So he tried to harden himself.
And I just imagine that as he did that, the next Person passed infront of him and maybe made a Statement. And he would just say: “Oh Boy, come here! Look, if you don’t repent…”
Because he said, even when I said I will not Preach again, His Word was in my heart like fire. It was like fire burning in my bones.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his Name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. (DMC NOTES: Jeremiah 20:9)
May the Word of God be Fire in your heart – Amen!
May the Word of God be Fire in your bones – Amen!!
I say: May the Word of God be Fire in your heart and in your bones – Amen!!!
Can Somebody say: Father, make Your Word Fire in my heart, and in my bones, in the Name of Jesus – Amen!
It is then that you can communicate the heart of God.
“But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.”
He said, “I won’t Preach.” But he couldn’t stop Preaching.
It was not possible when the Word is burning in your heart as Fire, and burning in your bones as Fire – It is not possible to stop Preaching.
The example of Jeremiah is very important to us because as far as the Lord Jesus Christ is concerned, the harvest truly….
He added “truly” to it – “Truly the Harvest is Plenteous.”
No matter what we say about the world, the Harvest is Plenteous.
No matter what we say about any Nation, anywhere, the Harvest is Plenteous.
As far as God is concerned, all He wants is Labourers.
The Lord is reminding me of two (2) People now – Let me tell you about one of them.
There was one John Hyde.
John Hyde that God sent to India at a time when India was so difficult that to win a Single Soul was difficult.
And John Hyde held on to God – He said, “Father, give me one Soul a day or I die.”
He brought it to a point of desperation and he started praying “One soul a day this whole year.”
The days he did not win any Soul he didn’t sleep till daybreak.
He said, “Father, the Covenant was broken. What did I do? I want one Soul a day.”
One of the days he didn’t win any Soul. The next day he didn’t win any – He said: Lord, better take me to Heaven. There’s no need staying here if I can’t win Souls. “Give me Souls or I die!”
And then God answered him. The next day he won ten (10) People to Christ.
And at the end of that year by Personal Evangelism, he led four hundred (400) People to Christ.
… That was more than one Soul a day.
- It’s because he cried it out from his heart.
- It’s because it was burning in his heart.
DMC NOTES; Praying John Hyde, 1865-1912 (Missionary to India and Prayer Warrior)
John Nelson “Praying” Hyde was an American Missionary who worked in the punjab region of India. From a Presbyterian minister’s family, his father prayed that God would raise up more ministers. John had not been initially planning to become a missionary, but changed his mind through God’s providential workings and the death of his brother. He left for India in 1892. On the way there, he read a letter from a friend who spoke of praying that John would be filled with the Holy Spirit. This initially angered John, but he later realized God was speaking through his friend, and he seriously sought for God’s help. It wasn’t easy for John to be a missionary because he was deaf and had difficulty learning the language. At first there were few converts and much persecution. To change the spiritual tide, John began praying for God’s blessings to come upon the missionaries, including spending entire nights in prayer for the mission. He attended the first Sialkot missionary conference in 1904. Afterwards he also started up the Punjab Prayer Union, in which members agreed to pray for thirty minutes each day for spiritual revival in India. It was while praying that he felt impressed that one convert would be won each day. Later he prayed for two converts each day. Eventually he felt impressed to pray for four converts each day. At the end of his life he returned to America where he died in 1912.
When you go to Bible School, let the Word burn in your heart .
Let the Word burn in your bones.
The Certificate is not enough!
Certificates do not satisfy God – What satisfies God is Fire.
Please, Somebody say: The Fire!
Say it loud: The Fire!
Say it loud: The Fire!!!
That’s what satisfies God.
Add Fire to that Certificate.
Add Fire to it.
- The Flesh
The third (3rd) and last Mountain to be moved apart from the world, is the Flesh.
To me, I think this is even the most difficult.
Some People may think moving Satan is the most difficult; to me, moving Satan is not as difficult as moving the flesh.
I think it’s moving the flesh.
But Thank God that there is nothing impossible with God – Nothing at all. Nothing!
A Passage came to my heart as I was Preparing – That is Hebrews 4:12.
It says: For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
It’s the Sword of the Spirit that pierces to give us Victory over the Flesh.
And Victory over the Flesh comes as the Sword of the Spirit discerns our heart.
It makes a distinction between our motives, so that we know the things that are arising from the Flesh; and the things arising from the Spirit.
So the Sword of the Spirit pierces to separate the Soul and Spirit.
For many of us, our Problem is the fusion of the Soul and Spirit – The Soul and Spirit are fused.
- So you are led by your emotions, which is part of the Soul.
- Or you are led by your intellect, which is part of the Soul.
- Or you are led by your Will, which is part of the Soul.
And let me put it this way: The Soulical Christian is not a Spiritual Christian.
DMC NOTES: A “Soulical” (or “Soulish”) Christian is a Believer whose daily life, worship, and service are driven by their own Human Mind, Emotions, and Willpower (The Soul) rather than by the guidance of the Holy Spirit (The Spirit).The term comes from the Greek word psuche (soul). In deeper Christian Teachin such as that taught by Watchman Nee; Believers are viewed as having a Spirit, Soul, and Body. A Soulical Christian relies on Natural Human Talents, Clever reasoning, and Emotional zeal for God, instead of waiting for Divine Revelation or yielding completely to God’s spirit.
And a number of us are Soulical – We are led by our Emotions, and our Feelings.
Just annoy the Person a bit, you’ll see what happens! – The soul emerges and begins to lead; begins to utter, and begins to do things.
But when the Word, the Sword of the Spirit, which is sharper than any two-edged sword, pierces to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, then the Person is led by the Spirit.
- The Holy Spirit does not fill you in your Emotion;
- Or fill you in your Intellect;
- Or fill you in your Will.
He fills you in your Spirit.
That’s why the Bible says in Ephesians 3:16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his Glory, to be Strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That is where it counts the most in your Life – And it takes the Sword of the Spirit to pierce to the dividing asunder of the Soul and Spirit.
So what do we do?
Let’s return to the Word and let’s allow the Word to return to us.
George Whitfield is one of the men I love a lot. I read a lot about him and about John Hyde too.
George Whitefield Prayed through the Word of God (the Bible) four (4) times from Genesis to Revelation on his knees.
DMC NOTES: George Whitefield (often spelled Whitfield) was an 18th Century English Anglican Priest and Traveling Preacher. Born in 1714, he became one of the key founders of Methodism and the Global Evangelical Movement, sparking massive Religious Revivals in Great Britain and the American Colonies known as the Great Awakening.
I’m saying this to you because you are Graduates of Bible School.
What else should we say?
Should we give you a lower Standard?
A man like us, a Youth like us, Prayed over every Verse of the Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22; four (4) times on his knees.
One of the times, he was on his knees for thirty six (36) hours Nonstop – Nonstop!
I want us today to make up our Minds to return to the Word of God.
Please, let’s rise wherever we are. Let’s rise!
It takes God, but let’s ask the Lord:
Father, help me. Help me to truly return to Your Word.
Help me to truly return to Your Word in the Power of Your Spirit.
Help me Lord!
If one man could Pray through the Bible four (4) times on his knees, that was why God used him the way He did.
That was why God used him so tremendously.
Please ask the Lord to help you to return to the Bible.
I know you have graduated from studying the Bible, but let’s ask the Lord;
Father, help me to truly return to Your Word.
To the Miracles of Your Word.
The Power of Your Word.
The Sanctification of Your Word.
The Impact of Your Word.
The Ministry of Your Word.
By the Power of Your Spirit in the Name of Jesus.
Please talk to the Lord with all your heart:
Help me Lord to return to Your Word.
Help me Father.
Make today a Special Day in your Life.
A Special Day of returning to the Fire of the Word.
The Powe of the Word.
The Intensity of the Word.
To the Realities of the Word by the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Help me Lord to return to Your Word!
Please Pray this Prayer as Nobody else will Pray it for you.
Pray it with all your heart until God answers you this Morning;
Lord, take me back to the Power of the Word.
Pray it until something happens in your heart!
