NUGGETS FROM PASTOR MENSA OTABIL’S TEACHING: WAIT FOR THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER.
Each one of us go through moments where you feel inadequate.
You think that what you are dealing with is far bigger than you – You don’t have the Strength, you don’t have the Capacity.
Sometimes, you look inside and figure out that you are small, very weak and very incapable.
You are not the only one who feels that way – I think almost everyone goes through that.
And the Disciples of Jesus Christ went through that too at the time Jesus Christ was ascending to Heaven.
And they wanted to know how to survive.
So, we read in the bible the answer. Acts 1:4 –
And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the Promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
… This is Jesus Christ; about to leave to Heaven – The disciples were worried about how life is going to be when He is not Physically around with them. They are used to Him being their Hero, being their Leader.
Now, He is going to be Physically away and the Disciples knew that there were enemies all around them – The People who had crucified Jesus Christ were still around; the Jews who hated them were still around.
They knew that People were not ready for their Message.
And yet in the midst of all of that Jesus Christ told them: “Go to the same crowd that don’t like you and go and Preach the Gospel – Go and Preach the Good News”.
And tell them about what you have experienced and your Witnesses.
So, the question is how are we going to go to this unfriendly environment of Negativity? And how are we going to really be successful trying to convince People who hate us because the environment is Negative?
The answer Jesus gave to them was “WAIT”.
Wait for what?
Wait for the Promise of the Father – The Promise of the Father was the Holy Spirit.
And He said to them later that: When the Holy Spirit comes, He will give them the Power and then they can do the things that they were scared they couldn’t do.
And there are time everyone of us feel that we don’t have what it takes to do things that we want to do.
Because sometimes your Vision may be so big, your desires may be so great but your talent is small, your ability is small.
And you ask yourself, “How am I going to be able to do that”?
… Wait for the Promise of the Father.
The Promise of the Father is the Holy Spirit.
When we wait on the Lord, that is when we will receive Him.
When the Bible says He will renew our Strength – It is the Holy Spirit empowerment.
… His ability that helps us to go out to that word we are afraid of and turn it all around .
So, If you are wondering how you are going to really make it, wait on God to empower you – It is the Promise of the Father.
And the Holy Spirit Special Gift, Special Ability increases your boldness.
Things we don’t think we had, He is the difference Maker – He makes all the difference!
And when you wait for it on Him, the difference will show in your life.
The Disciples of Jesus Christ were not educated but when the Power of the Holy Spirit came upon them, People thought they were the “Most Sophisticated Theologians” because the Holy Spirit will empower you to do things that life has not given Naturally to you.
So, wait on the Lord; wait for the Promise of the Father – And when His Spirit is stirred in you, you will begin to do things that will amaze yourself.
I Pray for you that the Holy Spirit will empower you, equip you so that you can go into your world and make a huge difference – Amen!
