DAY 6 AFTERNOON SESSION TOPIC YOUTH HOUR: WONDERS OF PURITY AND HOLINESS

DATE: 8TH AUGUST 2020.

BIBLE TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:7, HEBREWS 12:14, 1 PETER 1:14-16 AND 2 CORINTHIANS 7:1.

I want to Thank God for this Great Convention that has been really, really WONDERFUL as the THEME depicts.

And I want to Specially Thank God for our own Parents in the Lord – Daddy and Mummy Adeboye, for making themselves available for God to use.

Since we started this Convention; we have been receiving Great illuminations and Revelations from the Messages that our father has been giving to us.

It is obvious that he has opened up to God and God is flowing through him to us: Daddy we Thank God for your life.

May your Grace keep on increasing in Jesus’ Name – Amen.

Today, I have been given the Topic: “THE WONDERS OF PURITY AND HOLINESS” to look at.

And I will be looking at these OUTLINES – looking at:

1. The DEFINITION of Purity and Holiness.
2. The DEMAND for Purity and Holiness.
3. The DANGERS of Impurity and Worldliness.
4. The DIVINE WONDERS of Purity and Holiness.

Let us Pray!

OPENING PRAYER

Father, we want to Thank You for who You are.

We Thank You for the Great Things that You have been doing in our lives.

We Thank You first for coming from Heaven to Procure Salvation for us.

Thank You for the Salvation that we are enjoying; For bringing us out of darkness into Your Marvelous Light.

For making us Holy in the Presence of God. We now have ACCESS to God. Father we Thank You!

We really Bless Your Name for what You have done for us. Father, Please accept our Thanks in the Name of Jesus.

As we look into the Perfect Law of Liberty; as we look into Your Word – “The Engrafted Word of Lord” that is able to save Souls.

Lord Please, let this impact our lives for Good for Your Service in the Name of Jesus.

Flow freely through me and meet the Needs of Your children and reposition all us in where we ought to be; so that we will be doing exploits in the Kingdom.

We Thank You!

Lord by the end of it all; the Glory and Honour will be ascribed to You.

In Jesus’ Name we Pray – Amen!

Beloved, we are looking at THE WONDERS OF PURITY AND HOLINESS (2ce).

… Let me read a few Scriptures. Just follow me.

1Thessalonians 4:7:
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto HOLINESS.

Hebrews 12:14:
Follow Peace with all men, and holiness, without which NO MAN SHALL SEE GOD.

1 Peter 1:14-16:

14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

15 But as He which hath called you is Holy, so be ye Holy in all manner of conversation;

16. Because it is written, Be ye Holy; for I AM HOLY.

And let’s look at 2 Corinthians 7:1. Hear the Scriptures:

Having therefore these Promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, Perfecting Holiness in the fear of God.

… Perfecting holiness in the FEAR OF GOD.

God is Holy and in Him is No Unrighteousness at all – No Unrighteousness, no Iniquities or Impurity.

Holiness is the very essence and the Character of God.

Holiness is a “Unique Nature” of God that cannot be separate from His Nature.

The Holiness of God is what separates Him from every other beings or Creatures in the whole Universe.

Hear 1 Samuel 2:2: “There is none Holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any Rock like our God.”

Now hear Isaiah 6:3: “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of Hosts: the whole Earth is FULL OF HIS GLORY.”

So, Please understand that God is Holy, where God dwells is Holy.

You see this in Isaiah 57:15. The Scriptures says:

*”For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the High and Holy Place, with him also that is of a Contrite and Humble Spirit, to revive the Spirit of the Humble, and to revive the heart of the Contrite ones.”

… So where God dwells is Holy!

The Word of God is Holy, His works are Holy, His Wisdom is Holy, His Ways are Holy, His Name is Holy.

It is very important that we understand that Holiness is a MAJOR ATTRIBUTE of each Person in the Godhead:

I. God the FATHER is Holy – John 17:11.

II. God the SON is Holy – Acts 4:30.

III. And the HOLY SPIRIT is Holy as His Name depicts.

So, each Person of the Godhead is equal in order of Holiness to the Other in the Trinity.

No wonder we declare in Worship: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Host!

Therefore, it is very important for us to understand that there is no Man, Being or Deity, that compares with God Almighty in Holiness or in Purity.

His holiness is exquisitely Impeccable, Immaculate, Faultless, Flawless and without any filthiness.

That is why you hear the Scriptures in Exodus 15:11; the Bible says:

“Who is like unto Thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like unto Thee, Glorious in Holiness, fearful in Praises, doing Wonders.”

And then in 1 Samuel 2:2, the Scripture says: “There is none Holy as the Lord: for there is none beside Thee: neither is there any rock like our God.”

… Very important!

1. THE DEFINITION OF PURITY AND HOLINESS.

PURITY: Which comes from the Latin word “Purous” which means the attribute of being Clean, being Clear, being Chaste, being Godly, Spotless, Unmixed: in ATTITUDE and CHARACTER.

PURITY Is what the Bible describes as been without Spot, Wrinkles, Blame or Blemish.

That is why you can read Ephesians 5:26-27:

“That He might Sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word. That He might Present it to himself a Glorious Church, not having Spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be Holy and without blemish.”

… Very Important!

When you come to the word HOLINESS;

HOLINESS is derived from the Hebrew word “Kadosh.” – Which means Separate from or Set Apart.

So, Holiness is a state of being separated from Sin, separated from the world, separated unto God.

Or Set Apart unto God.

Holiness also means a state of Wholeness or Perfection and Freedom from Moral Evil.

Holiness is a state of Complete Obedience to the Will, the Word and Ways of God.

So, Holiness may also be rendered as Sanctification, Godliness, Consecration and Sacredness.

Hear Exodus 30:29: “And thou shalt Sanctify them, that they may be most Holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be Holy.”

If you read Leviticus 20:7, the Scripture says: “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye Holy: for I am the LORD your God.”

2. Now let’s look at THE DEMAND FOR PURITY AND HOLINESS.

We have looked at the definition of Purity and Holiness.

Now let us look at: The Demand for Purity and Holiness.

NEW BIRTH: When we receive and accept Jesus Christ as our Personal Lord and Saviour in our heart; God makes us Holy and Righteous in Christ

That you see in 2 Corinthians 5:21. The Bible says:

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”

If you also read Romans 5:18-19. The Bible says:

“Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

So, at NEW BIRTH we are made HOLY.

But we are however Commanded; we are called and commanded by God to live Holy just as we have been made Holy when we got saved.

That you have been Holy when you got saved, does not mean you should now be living an Unholy Life.

We were made Holy when we got saved, and we are now Called and Commanded to be living in Holiness.

That is why you see in 1 Peter 1:14-16. The Scripture says:

“As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is Holy, so be ye Holy in all manners of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; FOR I AM HOLY.”

So, Purity, Sanctification and Holiness is a “Direct Demand” from God to every Believer in Christ.

God demands the Complete Separation of Believers from sin and the world – To be completely set apart unto Him, unto His Word, unto His Service; to be living in Righteousness and Holiness.

That is why you read in 2 Corinthians 6:17. The Scripture says:

“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”

Purity and Holiness is the Foundation of Christianity (2ce).

And so any Gospel that condones and Promotes the “SIN CULTURE” is a Fake Gospel and should never be tolerated by any Believer.

Everyone in all Nation across the Continents of the World, that is calling the Name of the Lord must depart from Iniquity.

Purity and Holiness is what gives Colour, Credibility to the Christian Faith.

So anyone who consciously Practices and indulges in Sin – without regards to Purity and Holiness, is not of Christ.

You cannot be a “Genuine Christian”and be enjoying LIVING IN SIN.

That is why 2 Timothy 2:19, the Scripture says:

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the Name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

… We should be Truly Pure.

Since Purity is the Character of God, we are to be living like Him. We are supposed to be like Him – Be example in Purity.

We are to have Pure HEAD, Pure HANDS, Pure HEART

I. The Purity of HEAD: Means we are to have a CLEAN Thought life.

Proverbs 23:7 says: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:

We are to have a CLEAN Thought life – That is what we mean by Purity of the HEAD.

II. Then Purity of HANDS: That talks about action! We are to have CLEAN HANDS.

Psalms 24:3-4; says: “Who shall ascend into the Hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his Holy Place? He that hath clean hands, and a Pure heart; who hath not lifted up his Soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.”

So, living a life of Purity DEMAND: Purity of HEAD – that is talking about our Thoughts Life; Purity of HANDS – that is talking about our Actions;

III. Purity of HEART: We are to have Pure HEART. We need Clean Heart

… You can read Mark 7:21-23, Proverbs 4:23.

So, that is TRUE PURITY: Purity of Head, Purity of Hands, Purity of Heart.

So, there is need for TOTAL PURITY; and to experience TOTAL Purity, you should read 1 Timothy 4:6-12 – to experience TOTAL PURITY.

You will find in that Scripture, that to experience Total Purity, we should have what we call “CHRIST LINKED CONVERSION”.

You see that in that 1 Timothy 4:6-12.

Christ Linked Conversion: Christlike Conversation, Christlike Conduct, Christlike Compassion, Christlike Confidence, Christlike Conviction, Christlike Chastity.

… That means we should be living in PURITY.

And there are what we call THE PRINCIPLES FOR A LIFE OF PURITY.

… The PRINCIPLES for keeping yourself Pure:

1. There must be Spiritual Salvation – According to 2 Corinthians 5:17.
2. There must be Spiritual Preparation – According to 2 Chronicles 27:6.
3. There must be Submission to the Scriptures – Psalms 119:9-11.
4. There must be Service to the Saviour in Total Obedience – John 2:5.
5. There must be Sanctification – 1 Chronicles 15:12-15.
6. There must be Sensitivity to the Sacred – Psalms 24:3-6.
7. And there must be Spiritual INTIMACY.

In keeping yourself Pure: There must be Spiritual Salvation, Spiritual Preparation, Submission to the Scriptures, Serving the Saviour in Total Obedience, Sanctification, Sensitivity to the Spirit and Spiritual Intimacy.

And we are commanded to be Holy and Pure;

I. In our CONDUCT – 1 Timothy 6:11-12.

II. In our COMMUNICATION and CONVERSATION

III. In our CHARACTER

IV. In our COMPANIONSHIP

V. in our CALLINGS.

VI. In our CONSCIENCE.

VII. in our CONGREGATIONAL SERVICES.

… We commanded to be HOLY, to be PURE.

3. Now, DANGERS OF IMPURITY AND WORLDLINESS?

Because we need to have understanding of this so that we can be enjoying the WONDERS OF PURITY AND HOLINESS.

So, what are the DANGERS of Impurity and Worldliness?

Hear the Scriptures in James 4:4, the Bible says:

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

And if you read 1 John 2:15-17, the Scriptures says:

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

So, if Holiness is a state of being separated from Sin, separated from the World; or set apart unto God for Service then the opposite of Holiness and Purity will be WORLDLINESS.

And Worldliness is the Active Devotion, Affection, Affinity and Love of man; for the Standard, the Styles, the Systems, the Stuffs in the world other than the Love of God.

So Worldliness, according to the Scriptures, is exhibited or manifested as: The Lust of Eye, the Lust of the Flesh, the Pride of life.

And Worldliness does not connote been isolated from the world but it means you can be in the world and still be separate unto God.

Like Jesus Christ who lived in this world, lived among sinners, talked with sinners, lived with sinners but was never mistaken for one – He was still DISTINCT and SEPARATE unto God.

Even though He lived among sinners, He walked with them but you could not find any fault in Him. He was still separate unto God.

That is how we ought to Live!

That is what the Scripture says in John 17:14-16:

“I have given them thy Word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I Pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”

And Romans 12:2, the Scriptures says: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may Prove what is that Good, and Acceptable, and Perfect, Will of God.”

So, Worldliness and living an Impure Life as a Believer, has dare Consequence and Disadvantages.

And WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES, THE DANGERS of living an IMPURE LIFE or living WORLDLY?

I. DESTRUCTION – According to 1 Corinthians 3:17.

Destruction is one (1) Major Dangers of living an Impure and Unholy life.

II. DISASTER throughout life.

All manner of Spiritual and Physical disasters – 2 Chronicles 15:5.

III. DEFEAT in the battle of life – Read Joshua 7:1-13.

IV. DISEASES.

All manner of Diseases and Pestilence will have access to the Person who is worldly and unholy – You can read 2 Chronicles 21:12-18.

V. DENIALS of God’s Promises and Blessing.

As you can see in 1 Samuel 2:30. Hear that Scripture, hear God talking to Eli;

“Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”

So you see the Dangers, the Disadvantages of living an Impure Life: Destruction, Disaster, Defeat, Diseases, Denial of God’s Promises and Blessing.

VI. DOWNWARD movement.

As you can see in the life of Samson – if you read Judges Chapter 14 up to Chapter 16.

… Downward Movement!

VII. DETHRONEMENT.

You will also see this in the life of Samson.

VIII. DEPARTURE of God’s Presence.

You can’t be living in Sin and and God’s Presence will remain with you.

IX. Denial of ENTRANCE into Heaven.

Look at that Hebrews 12:14 (that we read before); “Follow Peace with all men, and Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”

So, denial of entrance into Heaven.

X. Declaration of God’s JUDGEMENT or Divine Judgement. You see that in Revelation 20:15.

XI. DELETION of Name from “THE BOOK OF LIFE”.

XII. DEATH.

So you see the DANGERS of living an Impure Life: Destruction, Disaster, Defeat, Diseases, Denial of God’s Promises and Blessing, Downward Movement, Demotion, Dethronement, Departure of God’s Presence, Denial of entrance into Heaven, Declaration of God’s Judgement or Divine Judgement, Deletion of name from the Book of Life, Death.

So, you are to keep yourself PURE – AND TO KEEP YOURSELF PURE:

I. Be careful where you LIVE – 1 John 3:1-3.

II. Be careful where you GO – Judges 16:1.

III. Be careful what you SEE with your eyes – 2 Samuel 11:1-5.

You know what happened to David, as a result of what he allowed his eyes to see? – He fell into sin!

So be careful where you live, be careful where you go, be careful what you see.

IV. Be careful what you THINK about.

What you set your heart to THINK about – Ephesians 4:21-24; Proverbs 23:7.

V. And be careful what you DESIRE.

And you see how Samson fell; you see what happened to Samson.

If you look at Samson’s dying and death moment; just look at it:

I. He lost his VISION.

As a result of Worldliness, Impurity. he lost his Vision, he was blinded – Judges 16:21.

II. He lost his VITALITY.

He was BOUND – Judges 16:20-21.

III. He lost his VICTORY.

He was GRINDING – Judges 16:21.

IV. He lost his VIABILITY.

He was GROUNDED to the Grave.

So, you see his Death and Dying moment (Samson): He lost his VISION (blinded); Lost his VITALITY (bounded); Lost his VICTORY (Grinding) and Lost his VIABILITY – He was grounded in the Grave.

And there is a MAJOR lesson from Samson’s fall:

And that lesson is that sin BLINDS, sin BINDS and sin can GRINDS and Sin can GROUND you and STAGNATE you.

You see this in Judges 16:21.

Samson actually means SUNSHINE – which depicts LIGHT.

But it is unfortunate that he ended his life in DARKNESS, with his two (2) eye balls plucked out of his head.

But this did not just happened overnight; he was Spiritually Blinded a long lime before his enemies was Plucked out his eyes.

When he was living in Impurity, he was already Spiritually Blinded.

Samson was to live a life of Sanctification, Separation, Service, Self Denial and Spiritual Control but he was out of control..

From his downfall, we also should learn that One (1) Step Towards the devil is a journey away from God’s Destiny and God’s Will.

… Now let’s look at what we call:

4. THE WONDERS OF PURITY AND HOLINESS

The things you enjoy when you are living a Pure life and living a Holy Life:

I. DIVINE PRESENCE – Both on the Earth and in Heaven.

You will be enjoying Presence, which is necessary for you to overcome in the battles of life.

… Divine Presence!

II. DIVINE PROTECTION.

You can see this in Psalms 34:7 and Job 1:8-10.

… Divine Presence, Divine Protection!

III. DIVINE PROVISION. Psalms 37:25.

IV. Divine Performance of Promises and Answers to Prayers. – Luke 1:6 and then verse 13.

V. DIVINE PROMOTION AND ELEVATION. – Hebrews 1:6.

VI. DIVINE POWER AND ANOINTING. – Hebrews 1:9.

VII. DIVINE PEACE OF GOD AND THE PEACE WITH GOD.

Peace that Passeth all understanding; Peace of God and Peace with God – 2 Peter 3:10-14.

VIII. DIVINE HEALTH AND LONGEVITY. + Exodus 15:26, Proverbs 3:1-2.

IX. DIVINE HONOUR. – 2 Timothy 2:19-21.

X. DIVINE BLESSING.

So you see the DIVINE WONDERS OF PURITY AND HOLINESS – Divine Presence of God, Divine Protection, Divine Provision, Divine Performance and Promises and Answered Prayers, Divine Promotion and Elevation, Divine Power and Anointing, Divine Peace with God and the Peace of God, Divine Health and Longevity, Divine Honour and Divine Blessing.

So Beloved, every Believers in Christ has been CALLED and COMMANDED to come and be living a: Pure, Sanctified, Consecrated, Separated Holy life without SPOTS WRINKLES, or BLEMISH.

And the DANGERS of living an Unholy, Ungodly and Unrighteous life are GRAVE and SEVERE.

There are opportunities out there for every Believer to CHANGE, and make Good use of this opportunity to be living a Holy Life.

PURITY and HOLINESS is the best way to the TOP; the best way to live your life because God demands that we live a Holy Life.

And I Pray for you (if you are saved): that the Grace to continually be living a Holy Life will remain in your life – Amen.

The enablement will be seen in your life – And you will not fall into Worldliness, into living an Impure Life, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

ALTAR CALL

And if you are out there and you have not even submitted or surrendered your life to Jesus Christ;

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as Personal Lord and Saviour, how wonderful it is for you to come and know Him: Who can make you PURE, Who can SET YOU APART – for His Life and for Heaven!

So, if you are there and you have not given your life to Christ: I want you to repent of your sin. Come before Him. Receive Jesus Christ as your Personal Lord and Saviour.

He will forgive you, He will cleanse you by the reason of His Blood and your life will be transformed, your life will be changed.

… So let me Pray for you!

CLOSING PRAYER

Father, I Pray for everyone out there that heard the sound of my voice or reading now on the Label of DMC.

Those who have seen the DANGERS of Impurity and Worldliness. Those who have seen the WONDERS of Purity and Holiness:

Lord I ask that all those who are Your children You will give them the Grace and the Power to be living Holy lives, Pure lives, in the Name of Jesus.

And I Pray for those who have accepted You, who have received You as Personal Lord and Saviour – as the Message was going on (or reading now on the Label of DMC); I Pray that You will keep them in Your Presence.

Lord, let them never depart from You, for ever and ever.

In Jesus’ Name I Pray – AMEN!
