TOPIC: DARE TO DREAM AGAIN

DATE: 6th November, 2020

BIBLE TEXT: JOSHUA 7: 1-7

I like to welcome all of us to the November 2020 Version of Holy Ghost Service.

This is the Penultimate Month of the Year.

I want to thank God for how far He has brought us as a People.

Before I bring us to the Word of God, I will like to extend my Special appreciations to and greetings to our Daddy in the Lord and Mummy: Pastor and Pastor (Mrs.) Adeboye – For the great Wonders that God is doing through your lives and Ministeries.

We salute, we celebrate you Sir and Ma. 

We Pray for God’s Guidance, Good Health, and Long Life, in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

To our Viewers all over the world, who have tuned in for this Service and those reading now on the Label of DMC; I want to give a Word of encouragement, even as we get into God’s Word. 

God has made Promises to all of us at the beginning of this Year. Now we are in the Eleventh (11th) Month, they don’t seems to be fulfilled.

I want to encourage you – Do not Give Up, just yet, for our God is “The God of Eleventh Hour”. He will come through for you – Amen.

God bless you even as you listen to the Word or as you read now on the DMC Labels.

OPENING PRAYER

Father, Thank You, this evening for the Privileged to gather again as a People.

Thank You because You are already here with us.

We acknowledge You by Your Spirit, we ask that You have Preeminent over this gathering tonight in the Name of Jesus.

Because there is no distance in the Spirit; wherever Your People may be, Lord we ask that Your Unction will reach out to everyone of us in the Name of Jesus.

Lord I Pray that You will add Your blessings to the this Word, grant that I will do No Violence to Your Word, that You will help me to break it down into small small Particles that Your People may understand, to assimilate and put it into Practice.

Thank You Heavenly Father.

Sweet Holy Spirit of God; we welcome You and I submit my entire Will, myself to You.

Please use me for Your Glory tonight in the Name of Jesus.

In all that You will be doing; may all Your Glory remain with You and may all say it in the Name of Jesus.

And the Church of God say Amen – Amen.

Turn with me quickly to Joshua 7:

Joshua 7:1:

1. But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.
2. And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.
3. And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.
4. So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.
5. And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.
6. And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.
7. And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

May the Lord bless His Word – Amen 

Tonight for Twenty-five (25) minutes or so minutes; I will be sharing with us on what I call: “DARE TO DREAM AGAIN”.

Please say that to yourself.

And as you are sitting next to your spouse, say to yourself: “DARE TO DREAM AGAIN”.

As a Good background to the story that we have in Joshua Chapter number Seven (7) about the children of Israel.

We need to go back to where God started with them.

They were slaves in Egypt and they were in Servitude for a total of four hundred and thirty (430) Years.

The Bible says in Exodus 12:40, that the number of days that the children of Israel were sojourning.

And for as long as they seems to enjoy, because they didn’t cry unto God; God did nothing about their situation. 

But in Exodus 2:23-25 the last three (3) Verses:

In verse 25 one translation says: “God acknowledged their Plight”

When Christians, when a Nation, and People are going through things they don’t understand. If they keep quiet, God will do nothing about it because He would assume you enjoy it or you are happy to live with it.

But when they cried unto God, as seen Exodus 2:25. 

In the next Chapter Exodus 3:7-8; Verse 8 says: And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a Good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the Place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

… Six (6) Nations that they didn’t work for God gave them.

GOD GAVE THEM A DREAM.

Say to your neighbour, God gave them a Dream.

So God gave a Dream, before they are enjoying some cucumbers, onions and some Good fruits in Egypt but God said I got better deal for you.

God gave the Nation of Israel a Dream and He said I will Take you to that Dream, to that Dreamland.

That was God’s response to the cry of His People – He gave them the Dream of the land of their own.

And now:What is the Dream?

What is a dream?

A Dream is simply an image of the future, of that which is to come or happen but which is revealed to you whilst you are sleeping.

I want to you to know dear children of God, my brothers and my sisters that a dream(s) is/are God’s language to man.

…One of the languages of God to His children.

Let’s quickly deal with some six (6) or seven (7) things about dreams for you to understand this message better:

God employs dreams largely for Younger Believers and Older Believers, who are very busy and cannot stay in one place for God to speak to them.

Genesis 28:12 – You know when Jacob left from his father’s house, Isaac and as he journeyed, the Bible says he fell, tarried and was tired. Found a stone and laid his head upon the stone and slept off.

And the Bible says he dreamt a dream.

Joseph in Genesis 39:4-5 – And Joseph dreamed a dream and told it to his Brethren. 

You see God employs dreams largely not exclusively for Younger Christians and of course if you contrast that with what He does with what He does with People who have time, you know, because if you don’t have time to sit down in the Place of Fellowship with God, He is not able to reach you, then when He put you to sleep, He is able to talk to you. 

Contrast to what He did to Elijah 1King 19:10-12 – When Elijah ran from Jezebel.

The Bible says, he ran into the wilderness and God came and spoke to him. But He then said to him: You just go and appear before the Mount before the Lord.

You need to be able to stand before the Lord’s Mountain, be able to see Him clearly for you, if He is not going to use dreams for you.

And you know the story that there was great wind, the Lord was not there -Verse 11, then came the Earthquake and God was not there – Verse 12, the last verse says: Then came a “Still Small Voice”.

And that is why God cannot speak to People who are busy except He put them to sleep. 

Praise the Name Lord – Hallelujah!

Not all dreams are from God – It is important for you to know that, because Ecclesiates 5:3 says: 

For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.

I love, I think is the Comtemporary English Version of Ecclesiates 5:3 which says: If you think too much about something, you will dream about it.

So, you are thinking of a lady continuously, who is not your wife, you find yourself dreaming about her.

If you begin to dream about making money, making money and making money, you will dream about that. 

That doesn’t mean God doesn’t talk to you; that could be your own dream.

So, be very careful to be sure that is from God. 

If God gives a dream, it will be fulfilled.

Very quickly: If a Dream is from God, it will benefit other People.

Joseph said in Genesis 50:19-20:

You saw the dream God gave to Joseph, was what Preserved his entire family.

Subsequently as God has done.

And of course, you can see the story of Apple – Apple’s Products, Microsoft.

You can see that all of the Products they have today; they had a dream, but the world is a thousand (1,000) times better because of someone’s dream.

*”A Second Dream”, because we are talking about “Dream Again’ will nearly mean the First Dream or Probably expand it but it doesn’t jettison the First Dream.

You know in Genesis 37:9, Joseph yet dreamed another dream, and he went to tell his father and mother. He said this dream, I have dreamed again.

Everybody say dream again – Dream Again!

He said I have dreamed again and I see the sun, the moon, and the eleven (11) stars made obeisance to me.

It was still an elongation or an extension or an expansion of the “Original Dream” God gave to him.

Because a dream is like His Word, He will hasten His Word to Perform it – Jeremiah 12:1.

So, when God gives a Word only can you can frustrate it 

When God gives you a Dream, He stays with you wherever you go because some of the dreams God will give you, will take you to Places you don’t Plan to be in.

Joseph was from his father’s house, from farm, he was sold out as a slave.

Genesis 39:2, the Bible says God was with Joseph as a slave, when he got to Potiphar’s house and they framed him and put him in jail. 

The Bible says – I believe in Verse 20 and 21 of Genesis 39 (Genesis 39: 20-21).

The Bible says: God was with Joseph in Prison.

When He gives a dream, trust Him, wherever that dream takes you. God will not leave you alone, He will not forsake you.

And finally about dreams – When God gives you a Dream, you are favoured.

He gives you favour; He cause men to you favour.

Don’t forget He gave the Israel the favour, that is taking them to a New Land – Exodus 3:21.

Joseph again found favour in Genesis 39:4.

He found favour in the sight of Potiphar – Even Egyptian his boss.

Now I did say that, the only one Person who can frustrate the dream that God has given you is Yourself

If you sinned, then you are likely to frustrate the dream because God will not be able to accomodate you.

You and I know that.

Now very quickly, let me say this to you – The children of Israel, God took them out of Egypt, delivered them with a Mighty Hand as He had Promised He would and then the first Land they entered into was Ai.

Their leader: Joshua had sent men to go and spy – Spy out the Land, they came back and gave som few reports.

And so God says whatever is in that Land, the first fruit belong to God.

But here was Achan in Verse number 1 of our Bible Text tonight Joshua Chapter seven (7) – Joshua 7:1.
He trespassed,

Trespassing means going into someone else’s Property without his consent or authority.

He took what belong unto God and the Bible says God was wrath and so God caused them to suffer defeat.

That is what happened. 

Sin is a Dream killer

We got to be very careful when God gives us a dream. We must keep ourselves Pure.

Habbako 1:13 says: God’s eye can’t behold evil and cannot look at iniquity.

That was why they lost that battle.

God doesn’t want you to suffer defeat, God doesn’t want me to suffer defeat.

But we got to keep ourselves as Pure as we can by His Grace.

So, let us be very watchful because Amos 3:3, if God is Pure, if God is Holy and He gives a dream, it will take us to remain holy to keep that dream alive.

That was the difference between Joseph and children of Israel – They both had dreams of God, but when that woman in Genesis 39 says lie with me, in Verse 9 of Genesis 39; he says: How can I do this great sin and sin against my God.

He refused to – No wonder God stood with him, God gave him favour.

So, we know that the children of Israel, let us go back to our Bible Text in Joshua 7, they have sinned against God. God then fished out Achan and his family and dealt with them with what they deserved for their sins.

There are two (2) things I want you to know – The Bible says: They ran from the land, when the People of Ai Pursued them, they turned their backs on the enemies or at the enemies.

Whereas, they ran and got into a Place in Verse number five (5), the Bible calls it where they ended up “Shebarim”.

Please say that to your neighbour: Shebarim!

Shebarim is a Place of brokenness, it is a Place where dreams especially are shattered.

They call it dream-shattering Place.

In other words, all the dreams that God gave them in Exodus 3:7-8 of a New Land, a Land that flows with milk and honey was shattered, because it was a Place that was bad.

Let me say to you quickly, Ai is another City, don’t forget they entered and took the accursed thing.

Ai simply means a Place of iniquity, it means a heap or hill of ruins or waste, that’s what Ai means.

And so that Place where they sinned called Ai is a Place of iniquity, a Place of waste and I Pray that everything that try to waste our dreams, the Lord will destroy it in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ – Amen!

Now after they left Ai, they have two (2) options, the children of Israel – They can either, if you go to Verse two (2) of Bible Text, they can either return to one (1) or two (2) Places: The first (1st) Place will be Beth-aven is one choice they had, the other one is Bethel.

But let me explain to you what they both mean – I’m sure many of you know what Bethel means but maybe not Beth-aven.

Beth-aven simply means Place of Vanity.

And so on nothing else, they have sinned, they have come back to God.

I believed God has healed them but they can then sit there and be holding beaches Party and just go back to Beth-aven or nothing else.

But they had a dream – They had a dream, they needed that dream to reinvigorated and Beth-aven was certainly not a choice for them. The only other option was Bethel.

Bethel is the House of God, Bethel is God’s House.

Don’t forget that Bethel was the first Place God met with Jacob in Genesis 28 – When he slept with his head on the Pillow of stone.

So he is going back to God because the Dream came from Him in the first Place and if you must dream again you have to return to God.

Let me go back to Joseph very briefly – Joseph had two (2) dreams:

I. The first (1st) one limited in scope. He was going to get his brothers, his eleven (11) brothers to bow to him.

II. The Second (2nd) one says: Now, it encompasses his parents, the Sun, the Moon and the eleven(11) Stars all of them will bow down to me.

.. That was his Second (2nd) dream.

Did you realized that in the first (1st) dream; God didn’t take it away from him – It was still the same Dream but God expanded it.

*I don’t know what Dream God gave you – Perhaps at the beginning of the Year, Perhaps some couple of years but I’m here to let you know that God has not forgotten that dream and He will not fulfill it – Amen.

But He will expand it for you in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

Can I hear somebody say an Amen – Amen!

Nigeria had a dream, at Independence – We had this dream of utopian of what our Nation should be like and God was Faithful, as He has always been.

I have heard stories and believed  them because they are from authentic sources of how in the seventies (70’s) up to early eighties (80’s), how University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital (UCH) located in Ibadan Oyo State Nigeria was reputed to be the best Medical School in the world.

Please believe me- According to a Doctor who has trained there.

I understood that in those days, the South; they came for Medical tourism in Nigeria.

What more can we ask from God as a Nation?

Those of us who were Privileged to have gone to school in those days then, it was the best Education you could get.

Only People who couldn’t gain Admission in Nigeria went abroad to study.

Can I say this to you: The Economy was so buoyant.

As I Prepare for this Message I look into the Old Passport that I had between 1981 and 1984 and saw two (2) things – Two (2) endorsement that really struck me.

The first was: There was a Year I was going to the United States (US) for a holidays and I book Business Traveling Allowance (BTA) of Eight hundred (800) naira (Naira is Nigerian currency).

Excuse me and the endorsement from the bank gives one thousand, one hundred and sixty-four dollars ($1,164) That is Nigeria.

You really need  didn’t have to change your money anywhere – If you took your naira to anywhere in the world, it is a “Convertible Currency”.

I saw another endorsement in my Passport with one thousand Naira (N1000) – I got Nine hundred and sixty-four British Pounds (€964).

Those of us, who were old at that time can still bear Testimony to these Points.

So, we had a dream for Nigeria – We have the first Television Station in the whole of Africa.

Some European Countries didn’t even have a TV Station.

And you can go on, go on!

You went out of this Country and you are Proud to be a Nigerian.

We had a dream but like the children of Israel; sinned entered this Nation – No wonder we seems to have lost our dream as a Nation, no wonder corruption everywhere, greed, avarice in Governors, at all levels.

Why would the dream be truncated.

As individuals we are not any better than the People we elected.

We keep on abusing Government and all of that and I take nothing away from that but our Representatives at all levels, are Part of us before they became who they became.

But if many of us have the opportunities some of these guys have, we probably do a lot worse.

May God have Mercy upon Nigeria – Amen.

I say may God have Mercy upon Nigeria in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

But it is time for Nigeria to dream again, it’s time for Nigeria to dream again – And that is why I have to salute the Youth, our Younger children, our children and the Younger Generation today, who have dreamed yet another dream they can see of Nigeria.

My children tell me: Dad; Mum, they tell us – They said you told us the kind of Education you had and we can see that because our Parents, our friend’s Parents tell us the same thing.

We can see that you guys were well-schooled.

We can see that your Education compares favorably with any Institution anywhere in the world.

But we cannot see that in our days, we don’t seems to have a future in that line.

Many of them have Studied abroad; they have voluntarily returned to Nigeria just because they had a Dream again about the things their Parents told them and even better things.

Many of them have come back to work, many of them started businesses, Government Policies killed their businesses.

They got their backs to the wall but they say today: We got a New Dream.

We have decided, we have dreamed one more time, the dream that our Parents told us, we have another Dream. We have yet another Dream, yes we are holding on to our Parents Dream but something that is better than they had.

They want Education restored, they want Good Health Sector, they want Security and Safety, they want every Nigerian regardless of your Religion, what you believe in or what Faith you Profess to have equal opportunities and we say we can Dream, we can have Dream, another dream.

I want to salute all our Youths – From the North, to the South, East to the West on this New Dream.

I want to thank God again for the Theme of this Holy Ghost Service – As a Nation we are dreaming again – Amen.

Can I hear somebody say an Amen – Amen

As Individuals, we are dreaming again – Amen.

Have you a business, have you lost a relationship because of sin. 

May God have Mercy upon our Souls – Amen. 

But begin to get back to the Place of communing with God and while you are there another Dream will come – Amen.

And as that dream comes, take it with two (2) hands and run with it and stay Clean and Pure and God who speaks through dreams, God who gives us dreams will once again give you a Dream and He will cause it to fulfilled in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

Dream again!

Dare to do it for the God you serve, the God that I serve is Faithful and He will make sure it comes to Pass in the Name of Jesus – Amen.

Shall we Pray together!

CLOSING PRAYER

And so Heavenly Father; we are thankful.

Thank You for the brief moment we had to share together in Your Words – We give You Glory, we give You Praise for the things You have revealed to us from Your Words.

We are asking Oh God for Grace, for more Understanding – What the Speaker cannot convey, Holy Spirit of God Please convey it to the very innermost Part of our hearts in the Name of Jesus.

Lord, we also ask for Grace to be Doers, Lord to send us to the Place where You can drop Dreams in our hearts and we will do nothing to frustrate those Dreams but with Your help, with Your Favour, with Your Divine Assistance that these Dreams will come to Pass. 

We Pray for Nigeria and the Youths, we Thank You for how far You have brought us, we declare and decree that this Nation shall not disintegrate in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

We speak Peace from the North, East, South and West of Nigeria in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

The King’s hearts,the Bible says are in Your hands; You can turn it to whither You will.

Father the heart of Mr. President and those who work with him at all levels, in the States, the National and State Assembly, Father turn their hearts to Peaceful Resolution of things to come Pass in the Name of Jesus 

And once again Oh Lord, this Nation will become a Nation to be reckoned with in the community of Nations.

Thank You for our Economy that we will receive buoyancy for Safety and Security.

Thank You for Provision of lives basic amenities for every Citizen of this Nation.

Thank You for Guarantee of Safety of lives and Properties in the Name of Jesus.

We give you Thanks, we give you Praise, and as we continue tonight in this Service, Holy Spirit take control in the Name of Jesus – Speak through Daddy, anoint him Oh God Mightily for tonight meeting.

Thank You Heavenly Father.

We give You all the Praise, all the Glory and Adoration in the Mighty Name we Pray – Amen
