OPENING PRAYER

Father Almighty, we Thank You that You can even call us Your Children.

Thank You that the Almighty God, the All Sufficient God, the One who neither sleeps nor slumbers, the Prince of Peace Himself can call us His Children.

Thank You for the Salvation of our Souls, Thank You for the Storms You have Stilled for us in the Past, Thank You for the Storms You will Still for us in the future.

Please, accept our Thanks in Jesus Name.

Lord, visit us again today and bless us Mightily.

In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen.

Praise ye the Lord – Hallelujah!

We will continue with our Series on Going Higher now as we move to Part 47 – Going Higher (Part 47).

And our Bible Text is the same as our Last Sermon (Sunday 16th January, 2022) – 1 Kings 19: 4-8.

4. But he (That is Elijah) himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a Juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5. And as he lay and slept under a Juniper tree, behold, then an Angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7. And the Angel of the LORD came again the Second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
8. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the Strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God

The aspect of this Story that we want the look at today is the fact that it was an Angel that came and brought him food.

So, we want to talk briefly on: “The Ministry of Angels.

In this Story, we learnt that God does not bury His wounded Soldier but rather He feeds them and put them back on their feet.

When as a Christian, you get wounded on this Journey; God is not going to bury you. Instead He will come, He will encourage you, He will feed you and put you on your feet and say: Hey, continue the Journey, the Journey is still Great.

In Matthew 26: 29-75; Peter fell badly. He denied Jesus Christ three (3) times saying: I don’t know Him, I have never seen Him before. He said that I swear that I don’t know Him.

And Jesus Christ looked at him and when he saw Jesus Christ looking at him, he said: Ha, I am finished.

The Bible said that he went out and wept bitterly.

Peter considered himself – Now, no Hope, no Use; I have denied Him three (3) times, He even heard me when I was denying Him and that was why He looked at me to say: Hello Peter; you say you don’t know me?

Peter was convinced that he is no longer of any relevance to God, and that he has failed badly.

In Mark 16: 1-7; on the Resurrection Morning when some ladies came to the tomb of the Lord Jesus Christ and an Angel met them because they couldn’t find Jesus Christ there.

He (The Angel) said: Jesus Christ is not here, He has risen. Go and tell His Disciples and Peter that the Lord has risen.

Peter said that he is no longer a Disciple but tell him that as far as the Lord is concerned, he is still one of my Disciples.

Is there anyone listening to me now or reading now on the Label of DMC – Saying that the God has written him or her off.

I have Good News for you – He is going to reach out to you very soon – Amen!

Because in John 21: 1-19; when Peter said what is the use of going back to my Fishing. I thought that I was going to be a Great Apostle but after failing so badly; I better go back to where I was coming.

… If you can’t go forward, at least you should be able to go back to where you started from.

But the Lord went there to go and meet him.

And the first thing that Jesus Christ said to him and the Others when they met Him there is that – Come and Eat!

He didn’t even begin to say: Ha Peter, this is your face.

No, He said: Come and Eat!

It was after they finished eating that He now said: Peter, I think we need to talk – Do you love because you told me that you love me more than all these. Are you still saying the same thing?

Peter said that I love You.

He asked him the Second Time – Peter do you love me? Peter said: Ha, I love You.

It is as the Elders will say in my Native Land (Yoruba People of Western Part of Nigeria).

They said that it is what happened to “Oloruntunwo” (A dog) that causes “Oloruntunwo” (A dog) to behave the way he did. “Oloruntunwo” (A dog) is not a “Useless Dog”.

Again He asked him the 3rd Time – Peter said: You know all things. I know that I have denied You three (3) times but you know all things; it is far!

And this time, Jesus Christ now said: It is alright Peter. You will still be the one feeding my Lamb; you will still be the one feeding my Sheep and you will follow me.

I have Good News for those of you who thinks that God has forgotten you – He has not. He will reach out, He will restore you and He will reinstate.

I’m tempted to tell you a Story of one Young Man who is now an Elder who fell badly – Fell the first time, I went out to him and he got restored. He fell the Second time, I went to him and he got restored. He fell the Third time, I went to him and he got restored. Then he fell again and I say no more.

And then I went to the University of Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University, in Ile Ife Osun State, Nigeria) to hold a Program and I was returning to Lagos State the following Morning.

As I got to the Gate of the University, instead of turning Right, God said turn Left. And I told my driver turn Left – I obey first before asking: God, where are we going?

And then he mentioned the town of that Young Man – Okay Lord, I didn’t know what we are going to do in the town because He guides you Step by Step; one Step at a time.

When we were approaching that town, I said: God, we are near the town, where are we going?

And He said that you are going to the house of So and So – Probably He knew that I would have been a bit reluctant if He had told me in Ile Ife.

We got to the house, he was in the bathroom, the wife opened the door. The wife saw me and couldn’t believed her eyes – What is happening? I said I want to see your husband.

She went and told the husband – Daddy GO is here. The husband said: What kind of joke is this? This is not April Fool.

He came out, he saw me and just broke down and began to cry.

There was not much to say now.

How could you be here? – God sent me.

Today, I thank God that God reached out to him – He has become a very, very “Useful Vessel” in the Hands of God.

Everyone of you thinking that God has written you off – In the Name that is above every other names, He will restore you today (Amen).

But let me now talk about the Ministry of The Angels!

… The Angel brought food to Elijah.

1. Angels has a Ministry to you as a Child of God – Hebrews 1: 13-14.

Angels are Ministering Spirits; created to Minister to those of you who are Heirs of Salvation.

2. Angels use to bring down Healing to the Incurable – John 5: 2-9.

At the Pool of Bethesda, once a Year an Angel will come, trouble the waters and stir it up. The first Fellow to jump in gets healed.

3. Angels use to bring Deliverance in very difficult situations.

In Daniel 6: 16-22; an Angel came. And just the Presence of the Angel was enough to shut the mouth of Lions.

4. You know an Angel can be Pretty Strong.

2 Kings 19:35 tells us that a Single Angel killed a 180,000 Soldiers in one Night.

… That is a lot of Power!

5. An Angel can bring the Prisoners out of any kind of Prison it doesn’t matter those who are guiding the Prison.

Because like we heard in the Last Sermon (16th January, 2022) in Acts 12: 5-11; an Angel came in and brought Peter out of all the Soldiers on guard; with all the doors securely locked.

6. Incidentally, a touch from an Angel can destroy Yokes.

Because in that Story in Acts 12:7; the Chain binding Peter dropped off when an Angel touched him.

7. An Angel could bring Good News.

I. In Judges 6: 11-23; an Angel brought Good News to Gideon.

… Hey Gideon, you are going to be a National Deliverer.

II. In Judges 13: 1-end; an Angel brought Good News to the family of Manoah.

… Your family is going to give birth to a Champion.

III. In Luke 1: 5-38; it was an Angel that brought the News of the birth of John The Baptist to Zachariah.

It was the same Angel that brought the News to Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ that even though she was a Virgin, she will be giving birth to a Saviour.

8. In the Past, an Angel could bring an Answer to Prayers – Daniel 10: 1-14.
9. An Angel can bring a Word of Encouragement to Somebody who is in a Storm – Acts 27: 13-26.

… And we can go on and on and talk about the Ministry of an Angel

But there must be a Warning because having said that now, some of you might then begin to look towards an Angel for Help.

1. Don’t worship an Angel – They are your Servants.

… You cannot be worshipping your Messenger.

2. They are Creatures created by God.

They are Powerful, they are Strong, they don’t Sleep, they don’t Slumber – Good, but the Creator Himself is available.

In John 5: 2-9; an Angel has been coming every Year and that Man by the Pool of Bethesda has been there for 38 Years. He couldn’t get into the Pool because others got there before him.

But when the Creator of the Angels came; just one Word and he was made Whole.

3. Yes, Angels used to bring Healings but now, the Healer is here!

1 Peter 2:24 says: By His Stripes of the Lord Jesus Christ, we were healed.

We don’t have to wait for an Angel now – All we need to do is to cry to Jesus Christ!

4. And there are Places that an Angel cannot go – Daniel 3: 14-30.

When the Furnace was heated seven (7) times hotter than before; no Angel could go in to bring out Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

It was the Son of Man – Jesus Christ that went in there to bring them out.

I think for one reason or the other; Probably because they have a rough Idea of what Hell is – Angels don’t want to go into Fire!

5. And in any case according to Psalms 24: 7-10; Angels form what we call “The Host of Heaven”.

But Jesus Christ is the Commander of all Hosts – “The Lord of Host” that is His Name.

… He commands all Angels and He commands all demons also!

So, rather than worship Angels as useful as they can be; remember that they are merely your Servants!

6. They are even Limited.

They are inferior to you because they can’t even be allowed to Preach the Gospel.

Acts 10: 1-35 – When God wanted to bring Salvation to the house of Cornelius; He sent an Angel to go and tell him to sent for Peter; who will tell him what to do to be saved.

The Angels couldn’t Preach the Gospel – They are not allowed to Preach as they are inferior to us.

7. Don’t look up to an Angel to bring you food.

… If God wants to send an Angel, He will.

What the Bible says in Philippians 4:19 is that: God will supply all your Needs according to His Riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.

… Not by an Angel!

Philippians 4:13 says that I can do All Things through Christ…

… Not through an Angel!

There is this Important Point that I need to state before I conclude – If an Angel is sent by God to block your Way, you can’t move him.

Numbers 22: 21-25 – An Angel blocked the Way of a False Prophet and there was Nothing anybody could do about that.

If the devil himself is Standing in your Way – The Bible say that if you have submitted your Life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you can resist the devil and he will flee from you.

But if you Command an Angel to move out of your Way, he will ask you in whose Name?

You say in the Name of Jesus Christ, he will say that He is the One who sent me to be here.

Jesus Christ is the Lord of Host, if He asked me to block your Way, your Way is blocked!

Don’t worship an Angel, they are sent to serve you!

I have always told my children – Wherever I go, I have at least two (2) Angels going with me (One on my Right, one on my Left).

They say – You know them?

I say I do. I even know their names – One is called Goodness while the other is called Mercy.

It is written – Surely Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the days of my Life. But then I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Come, join the family of God and then wherever you go; Angels will be there to Minister to your Needs. But don’t worship Angels as it is Jesus Christ that you must worship!

ALTAR CALL

If you want to give your Life to Jesus Christ, bow your Head now and I will Pray with you for the Salvation of your Soul.

And very soon, you too will be able to say: Surely, Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the days of my Life.

Let Us Pray!

If you want to give your Life to Jesus Christ, you want the Angels to begin to Minister to you from now on; as a Child of God, cry to Him now and say: Lord, save my Soul, forgive my sins, receive me into the Family of God and I will serve You for the rest of my Life.

In Jesus Mighty Name we have Prayed – Amen!

PRAYER FOR SALVATION AND CLOSING PRAYER

And so my Father and my God, once again I want to Thank You for Your Words, I want to Thank You for the Ministry of Angels.

But I want to Thank You because we can be far, far Greater than Angels – We can have Angels as our Servants.

And so, I’m asking Lord God Almighty that all those who want to become Children of God, those who wants to surrender their lives to you today; Please save their Souls, let Your Blood wash away their sins, receive them into the Family of God and from now on, let them begin to enjoy the Ministry of Angels – Angels who will be their Servants and not Angels that they will worship.

And Lord God Almighty, I Pray for all of us who are Children of God – The New ones and the Old ones; wherever we go, let our Body Guards (The Angels of Heaven) begin to go with us.

And anything we will do that will cause an Angel to block us; Father don’t let us do it again.

Thank You Father.
