THEME: THE SIEGE IS OVER?
MINISTERING (DAY 5 MORNING SESSION): PASTOR STEPHEN RATHOD (SENIOR PASTOR, COVENANT BIBLE CHURCH, OKLAHOMA, USA)
TOPIC: WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE IS A SIEGE.
DATE: 10TH DECEMBER, 2021
BIBLE TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 29:1-25.
Good Morning!
The Lord will bless you, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth – Amen.
Thank You Lord, for the Theme of this Congress which says: THE SIEGE IS OVER.
Today I want to show you what our Part is on this Theme; so we can see the Manifestation of the Word of God in our lives.
First of all, let me Define the word: “SIEGE.”
It means a Military Operation in which the enemy’s forces has surrounded a Town, a Building and they have cut off all essential Supplies with the Purpose of forcing you to surrender from within.
But Thank God, the Word of God says: We are sorruounded about by the Army of the Lord.
In the next few minutes we want to look at: WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE IS A SIEGE.
We are looking at 2 Chronicles 20:1-25.
Most you listening to me or reading now on the Label of DMC have heard about King Jehoshaphat.
Now, Jehoshaphat was sorruounded about by enemies.
Remember, the word SIEGE means to be surrounded by Military Operation – And they want to cut Life off.
Several Kings came against King Jehoshaphat.
So let me talk briefly on What to do for the Siege to be Over:
- First of all, Jehoshaphat knew he was not able to fight his enemies. Because he said, those who come against us, they are Mighty, and we don’t know what to do.
So when you don’t know what to do (based on this Story), Jehoshaphat said, I know what to do;
IT IS TO PROCLAIM A FAST AND DO PRAYERS.
Thank God for the The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), it is based on Fasting and Prayer.
… And after the Fasting and Prayer, God always come through.
For instance, our father-in-the-Lord, Pastor E. A. Adeboye told us recently (in one of his Sermons how much Fasting and Praying he does to get Themes (For Programs).
And Thank God, he got the Theme: “THE SIEGE IS OVER.”
So King Jehoshaphat Proclaimed a Fast!
Remember that they were still surrounded by enemies.
While you are still surrounded by enemies, you can still touch God!
So, I have Three (3) Questions – which Jehoshaphat asked God:
So my first question is this: “Are you going to God FIRST, when you don’t know what to do?
So let me talk to you based on the Three (3) Questions which Jehoshaphat asked – Noy to his daughter, not to his soldiers, not to his Army, not to his Musicians, not to his Prayer Warriors.
He asked GOD these Three (3) Questions:
- ARE YOU NOT?
- DID YOU NOT?
- WILL YOU NOT?
These were the Three (3) Questions he asked God while he was Praying.
So let’s go into details about the Questions:
I. First he said: “ARE YOU NOT?”
… Are You not the God of our forefathers?
And I remembered the last time Daddy G.O was teaching us on 1 Kings 18, about Elijah – When he (Elijah) was Calling upon God, and he said: “God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”
The same way Elijah did, Jehoshaphat also said: Are You not God of our forefathers? – The God of Abraham?
A. WHO IS THE GOD OF ABRAHAM?
I. He is the God of Choice – He chose Abraham.
II. He is the God of Surprised Blessings; the God of Greatness.
III. And above all; the God who defended Abraham.
IV. The God of Abraham Rewards.
V. And the God of Abraham is a God of Generational Blessings.
Elijah Prayed; now King Jehoshaphat is Praying – “Are You not God of Abraham?”
Meaning, what You did for Abraham, we are counting on You to do the same thing for us.
… God of Abraham;
B. GOD OF ISAAC:
God of Issac we are in a Siege, but You are going to cause us to Laugh, like you did for Sarah (when you gave her Isaac).
… And of course;
C. GOD OF JACOB
The God of Jacob is a God of Deliverance.
My God! The whole life of Jacob – God was his Protector and Great Deliverer.
So Jehoshaphat Prayed – “Are You not …?
Look at the Life of Job – My God!
Job was in a Siege. For almost nine (9) to ten (10) Months, he lost everything.
But when the Siege was over he came out and said in Job 42;
God I know You can do it all. Nothing is impossible to You. You are the One Who is in Charge. You are the One Who is in Control.
It is Heaven that rules, just like Daniels 4:25-26 says:
That they shall drive thee from Men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of Heaven, and seven times shall Pass over thee, till thou know that the Most High ruleth in the Kingdom of Men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy Kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the Heavens do rule.
When you are Besieged, Fast and Pray. And in your Prayers, ask God these three (3) Questions;
- Are You not?
- Did You not?
- Will You not?
So we have talked about: “Will You not?”
Meaning, remind God of Who He is: the God of your forefathers – He answered Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
And the same God will answer you; because the Siege is Over – Amen.
- The Second Question Jehosaphat asked: “DID YOU NOT.”
Meaning, Jehoshaphat is reminding God of His Faithfulness.
Our God is a Faithful God.
And if you want to Study about His Faithfulness, read the whole Book of Psalms 105.
The Psalmist listed all the Mighty works of God:
I. How He delivered His People, how He helped them out with His Mighty Arms.
II. How He Supplied all their Needs, How He protected them, Healed the sick amongst them, Delivered His People.
… God, “Are You Not? Did You Not?
So, whenever you are faced with a Siege, remember to Pray using these three (3) Questions.
- Thirdly, He asked the Question: “God, will You Not”?
See how.smart he is Praying:
- Are You Not? Reminding God of Who He is.
- Did You not? You have done it before.
- Will You not? You will do it again.
When He said, “God, will You Not?”
It means: We are Your Children, we are Called by Your Name, we have turned from our wicked ways, we have repented, we are reordering our Stories by Fasting and Praying.
Now we are asking You: Will You not help us like You helped Your People throughout the Ages Past?
And then you God answered the Prayer of Jehoshaphat, like He heard the Prayer of Elijah; and answered him.
Thank God our God hears and answers; and heals our Land – The Siege is Over!
The way the Lord answered Jehoshaphat for reminding Him. God said: Okay Jehoshaphat, you reminded Me of Who I Am.
He said, let Me tell you something; Bethel is not yours. Bethel is Mine.
Because you said I Am the Lord Who delivers; I Am the Lord Who can destroy any Siege over your life!
…. Bethel is not yours. Bethel belongs to the Lord.
So the first point is Fasting and Prayer.
- IT IS GOOD TO HEAR FROM HEAVEN.
We just heard the word “THE SIEGE IS OVER”.
God spoke, gave them instruction – “Use the Musicians infront of you and Praise the Lord – for His Mercy.”
Mercy means that, God does not give us what we deserve.
We always say: “When Prayer fails, start Praising.”
But in this situation, when Jehosaphat was under a Siege,he Praised God for His Mercy.
Exodus 20:6 says: And shewing Mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep My Commandments.
When. You read Psalms 106:1-17;; it says God’s Mercy is Eternal.
Why? – God is Eternal, so His Mercy is Eternal.
David said in Psalms 108:4: For thy Mercy is Great above the Heavens: and thy Truth reacheth unto the Clouds.
Psalms 145:8 says: The LORD is Gracious, and Full of Compassion; slow to Anger, and of Great Mercy.
… Not only is Your Mercy eternal; Great is Your Mercy.
What did Prophet Jeremiah said when he was besieged?
It is of the LORD’s Mercies that we are not consumed, because his Compassions fail not. They are New every Morning: Great is thy Faithfulness.
“… Are You not? Did You not? Will You not?”
So God moved to action as soon as He heard the Prayer of Jehoshaphat – He set confusion in the Camp of the enemies.
The same God will set confusion in the Camp of all those who think evil concerning you to besiege you – Amen.
The Good News is this: The enemies of Jehoshaphat ended up killing one another.
Your enemies will end up killing one another, because the Siege is Over – Amen.
… So let us conclude this Message:
Jehoshaphat was surrounded by enemies, he was under a Siege, they were to be cut off from Life and he didn’t know what to do.
So he went to God: First; Some instructions came; Prayer and Praise combined; Mercy Showed Up!
… Mercy Showed Up and the Siege was Over!
What happens? – The Results, when the Siege is Over:
Listen to this: Again, we are in 2 Chronicles 20:25; it took three (3) days to collect all the Silver, the Gold, the Precious Jewels, Clothes, etc – It took them three (3) days.
Why? – Listen to this: The enemy thought that under the Siege he was going to cut off all their Supplies.
Remember, Ephesians 3:20 says: Now unto Him that is able to do Exceeding Abundantly Above All that we ask or think, according to the Power that worketh in us.
And God showed Himself More th Than Enough in the middle of the Siege.
So during this time, Fast and Pray and get ready to collect the Wealth of the wicked, which is laid up for the Righteous.
The Righteous inherit the Blessings because the Lord says: I Am going to turn it all around – THE SIEGE IS OVER.
In Conclusion, my friends that are here and those reading now on the Label of DMC, this is what I want you to do:
I want you to “FAST” and “PRAY”.
And the Prayers you are going to Pray shall be these three (3) Questions of Jehoshaphat: “God, are You Not? Did You Not? Will You Not?’
Tell Him Who He is – He is the Almighty God. He is the One in Charge. He is the External Creator, and He is the Possessor of Heaven and Earth. The Deliverer, the One who will destroy all your enemies.
Tell Him Who He is:
If you are sick, tell Him He is your Healer Exodus 15:26.
If you are Poor, tell Him, He is the One Who teaches you to get wealth – Deuteronomy 8:18.
If you are confused; “The Lord is your Light and your Salvation whom shall I fear” – Psalms 27:1
Tell your Problems Who your God is: He is THE ALMIGHTY – Genesis 17:1
But then, look back through your Life and see how God brought you through. How He brought you through!
“… Are You Not? Did You Not? Will You Not?”
You know I listened to Daddy G.O when he told us the Story of how he asked God to build him a Boy’s Quarter when he was still living in Mushin (Lagos-Nigeria). And God gave him Redemption City.
So now Pastor Adeboye can look back and say to God: “Did you not bring me from Mushin (Lagos Nigeria) to the Reception City?”
… Even though to him (Adeboye) it is till not a City yet.
Because he wants to build an Auditorium that is bigger than Ibadan (the Capital of Oyo State, Nigeria) – Redemption City is on its way of getting there!
Pastor Adeboye can now say: Are You Not? Did You Not? And then he can say – WILL YOU NOT?
All the folks in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) all over the world and you reading now on the Label of DMC; let me you ask this Question: How is Pastor Adeboye able to Succeed all the time?
The answer is in these three (3) Questions: “Are You Not? Did You Not? Will You Not?”
Also, he humbled himself to listen to Instructions from God and obey the Instructions.
You too, learn to obey God from today.
For the Bible says: If you love me, you would keep my Commandments.
And then start Praising God for only one thing – “Lord You are Good and Your Mercy endures for ever.”
And start shouting, because THE SIEGE IS OVER, in the Name of Jesus Christ – AMEN!
